Rubber seal issue after only a few years of purchase

    published

I expected a good quality washing machine from Bosch - unfortunately this has been a disappointing experience as only after a few years a small piece of the rubber seal chipped off which resulted in leakage. I now had the seal replaced (costing me over $300) but would not look for another Bosch appliance or recommend it after this experience even though we have a number of Bosch appliances at home. The technician suggested that the reason would be clothes caught up in the seal - this is not the case as I never had that happen. I see other reviews with the same issue which would indicate some quality issue with the seal. Sadly disappointed with Bosch.
Do not recall the month of purchase but it was some time in 2014.

    Poor design

    published

The design is not fit for the purpose as it allows continual blocking using. Liquid detergent & its difficult to continually clean. The passage are too restrictive for clear flow. The positioning of the electronics makes this operation of cleaning very sensitive it has obviously been designed off the. Computor without practical experience input by a practical engineer

Great for dirty work clothes and delicates

    published

We've had this machine for nearly two years and it hasn't skipped a beat washing everything from mud laden farm clothes to baby onesies. We particularly like the Speed Perfect function which reduces a normal cottons wash to one hour and the eco mode when we're not in a hurry. Also very happy with the woollens cycle and water efficiency, particularly because we use our own tank water. The delayed start is a good option for night time and means your clothes aren't left sitting in the machine for hours on end when you're not home.

We couldn't justify a Miele but very happy with this machine.

Yes, someone did come out and replace the filter screw and remove the SMALL amount of debris that had caused it to block and break. However, the machine now smells like burning rubber or metal whenever I do a wash. Still a complete lemon!

    Customers be aware

    published

I purchased this late January 2015 with extra 3 year warranty,, I had to call for a service as it was leaking, the rubber rim had a tear in. According to Bosch and I was told this applies to all front loaders, this part is not covered by the warranty why? Because when taking the clothes out of the machine you drag the clothes out and this is what causes the tear. We were never told of this when looking at front loader washing machines.
Furthermore they are aware of this, should they not put a better quality seal in their machine to prevent this.
Has anyone out there had a similar issue with their front loader? I would appreciate your response

    Blown up and expensive repairs!

    published

We have both a Bosch front loader and dryer and had the machines a few years and it has been good....until now! The front loader's drum bearings are worn, and is going to cost us in excess of $650 to repair it, on top of the $99 dollars it has cost us today to have someone come out to have a look at it. Seriously, what is the point... We bought a Bosch as we thought it would last the distance rather than going with a cheaper machine that we thought would blow up - the cost to repair the Bosch is more than a new machine at $750 total...
    Very disappointed.

Warranty Service Centre Is Polite However No Good

The machine is ok, the drum has a squeaking noise. Be careful there is no warning sticker like most all machines in Australia about removing travel bars. Loud compared to others I have. Hard to clean the rubber ring. Unusually sensitive if you don't have a full load stops to easily. Don't buy this machine!

Best Washing Machine I Have Ever Had!

    published

Bought it to replace an Asko, best idea ever. Washes so well and so many options for different loads. Super quiet and can not hear it when its no. Love the delay settings as it allows me to make sure the washing is finished just in time for me to get home. Would only ever buy Bosh again. Fantastic Machine

One of the best machine I have ever own

    published

This machine is a beast when it comes to washing clothes. It's not a quit machine though but the clothes comes out clean and it doesn't wear-out your clothes. I used to own a samsung front loader before and yeah it was pretty ordinary, it was one of those machine you have to check the washing after using it just in case you might find some dirt clothes, no wonder this samsung machines are exploding these days. What kind of a company is that from making a washing machine to making phones.

    Disappointing Performance

    published

Had this machine for 2 1/2 years and up to this point very happy with the machine, but on the weekend a major failure happened while washing a load of bathroom towels (well within the load rating)! The machine has completely smashed itself to bits internally, one of the springs which suspend the drum and trough at the top has come completely off (was lying in the bottom of the machine) and no sensors or anything stopped the machine, so as a result the cabinet is completely dented on both sides and bottom, soap dispenser is damaged and the Drive Belt is shredded, as well as a variety of other bits and pieces which are damaged internally. Not really good enough for a machine costing this amount of money!!!

hi. just like to know why our newly bought and installed waw28460au connected only to the cold tap please?

Bosch moved to cold water inlet only in their models Aquascure water inlets years ago. The manual confirms this. They use the heating element in the washing machine to precisely heat the water to the required temperature, as the hot water inlets are variable in temperature and often take a while to heat up.

BOSCH washing machine front loader. 01 FD 8609

Choosing cold water however inside was very hot.

Water supply is connected to a water hose.

In gentle mode can wash at 30 degrees. In other modes, the inside of the washing machine is hot and the drainage is very hot.

I wanted just washing with just water!

    What is the problem?
