Good coffee machine - but there's room for improvement!
My pod coffee machine broke down after extensive use and we decided to purchase this one for something different (and we don't mind filter coffee). It's definitely easy to use, easy to clean, the mesh basket for the ground coffee is made of durable stainless steel and I love the fact it has a timer so you can program it and wake up to a jug full of freshly brewed coffee. My cons are:
- when it says '12 cups capacity' it's actually 6 full cups. And to have 2 good cups of coffee you have to actually brew for 4 (which is the minimum anyway). So c...Read more

promised much, delivers some!
This machine promises to make 12 cups of coffee. I guess it can - if you use very small cups. However that is a small issue as it will make 6 - 8 decent size cups of coffee. The good things are its ease of use, it is fully programmable, the coffee basket is easy to remove, clean and replace and it looks nice - it has a brushed aluminum finish. However, the access port for the water is a terrible design. You life the lid and on the RHS rear corner the water gets poured down the side of the machine. The problem is the designers should have m...Read more
ade it with a pull-out "spout" to help direct the water down. Unless you have mega space on your kitchen bench, you will inevitably pour water down - the outside! The worse feature of all is that it never makes the coffee really hot! Even if you make the coffee and pour it immediately, is is not really hot, and in winter this is a poor effort.

Pretty good. Could be better.
Our choice was between this and the Sunbeam PC7900. Very similar machines, but after reading the reviews here, I chose the Breville. Plus I managed to find it cheaper: $60. We've been using it daily for 2 months.
Good:
- The timer works perfectly and the resulting coffee is as good as other drip machines we've owned.
- It has a neat design. The carafe stays secure on the warming plate.
- The water level is easy to read, thanks to a little red float ball in there.
Bad:
- The LCD clock unit itself is about the cheapest component they ...Read more

loving it!
I bought this for my husband as he begins work very early in the morning. With the timer function and heating we both have fresh coffee when we wake up. The smell drifting up in the morning is gorgeous and so far we're very impressed.
The mesh filter is easy to clean as are the other components.
ease of use, easy to clean, reliable timer function

One year guarantee means just that.
We like the Breville Aroma Style Electronic Model BCM600 so much that we have now bought three in a row. Each has lasted between 13 and 20 months, the last one breaking down exactly 375 days after purchase. Each time the problem is the same. One day the heating element is dead. The indicator lights are still working, but there is no heat, and hence no coffee. Each time we have bought another Beville Aroma on the theory that if we ever broke the carafe we would have a backup. Now we have three backup carafes and filters, but three useless and ir...Read more
reparable machines. What to do now? -- perhaps we should try a different brand and sell the Breville carafes on e-bay. The coffee is good, the timer works well and we love the convenience. The warranty should be for three years, and the equipment should be engineered to achieve that goal.3 comments
Update. In July 2014 we exchanged our third Breville for a fourth, but this time under warranty. When this happened we were told that the new one will still be under the third warranty, so we have only six months to go. This may be our last purchase.
Hey! I have just broken my carafe - would you be keen to sell one?
Hi Olympus, I do have one that I could sell, but need to consider safe transport. Let's go on email to discuss. The new ones are north of $40. Let me know what you bid.

Great Coffe Maker, but
Great coffee maker, but the 2 hour turn off feature is a real problem. I like to make a full carafe of coffee and have coffee on tap for the day. Breakfast at 8.00am, however at lunch time the coffee is cold. unless you intend to drink the full amount that you make within the 2 hours, it is not worth buying. If the machine can be programed to turn on at a specific time, the user should also be able to alter the automatic turn off period.
easy operation, easy to clean
Condensation a small problem, main problem is the 2 hour turn off feature. Breville should give the user the chioce of when the machine turns off.

What more could I ask for
Purchased this machine recently and it give hot coffee, to those who say its only warm...well your just crazy!! I think the steam from the coffee is a dead give away.
And to those people who say its hard to fill/ measure water for coffee...well you get "out" what you put "in".... So to achieve best results ;-) use the coffee pot to put in the water!! It's super easy lol
I would give it 5 * if it weren't for the condensation dripping down the back of the machine. :-)
Aroma & taste of coffee and style of the machine
Condensation in top of the water cavity.....this I'm sure is a "fault" but I can live with it. Until it or we blow up haha

An Excellent Coffee Machine
I have had this machine for several months and couldn't go without it. It is fast and efficient and holds 12 cups. Your able to set it so it will brew just before you wake up and it has a very attractive look to it and it is very easy to clean. I love this coffee machine and I have never had any problem with it. If you treat it carefully, it will last years.
The ground coffee is of plenty supply, so it is easy to get good coffee for it and you are able to make dozens of recipes with it. I love it and it is my first serious coffee machine an...Read more
d I wouldn't want any other kind, this is great and I love the ease of use and ease of cleaning and of course it's sleek design. The timer function is the greatest, to start brewing before or when you wake up, so you have steaming hot coffee ready for you when you get up. The carafe is kept hot for up to 2 hours. It is the best. Very Reliable, Easy to Use, Same Quality Coffee Every time, Energy Efficient, Clock interface, and a great Timer Setting to set it to brew 10 minutes before you wake up, It is also very Stylish and compact. The ground coffee in the filter overflowed over the top of the filter, but it only happened one time ever and we have had it for several months.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Breville Aroma Style Electronic
Very sleek and nice looking. Brews quickly, auto timer is great. The one bad thing is the lid to the coffee pot itself broke after about 6 months. It's a bit of a cheap, plastic hinge that snapped so you just have to lay the lid on top after that. It's too much hassle to get another pot so we just made do with it for a while and then went and bought a whole new set up.
Quick brew and very good looking machine
plastic lid on pot broke after only a few months

If you are careful when using the machine, like all things, it wont break.
That's helpful

Fantastic Coffee Maker
We've owned this coffee machine for over a year and still going strong! It makes lovely hot coffee that rivals my local coffee shop. Definitely much cheaper in the long run to buy the fresh beans and brew yourself! I love this machine as you don't even need to use the paper filters - just use the removable filter. I find if you use the paper filters, it absorbs all the lovely coffee oils and ruins your coffee. Highly recommend!
brushed stainless finish, quick brew, HOT coffee

This brews coffee really quickly and does what it says on the tin! You can programme it so that it switches on for you at a certain time ensuring that you have your coffee all ready for you when you get out of bed. Quick and simple to use, and sleek looking! Looks great on the work bench!

Terrible
Very disappointing. Had a similar one (a Kambrook) for 15 years and it was fabulous. Very reluctant to buy another Breville again!
When it works, it makes a smooth brew. Easy to clean.
After only a few months, I was forced to take it back. The 'drip' system was a dud - the liquid would continue to pour out of the drip filter when the jug was pulled out. On other occasions, the drip system would get clogged and coffee would be pouring over the jug (not into it!). As a result, I don't know how many times I had to clean up the kitchen bench and cupboards.

Disappointed
Bought this model after old Breville with filter paper stopped working. This model looks great on the bench and makes a good hot coffee. However the water tank filling aperture is too narrow so you must pour slowly to avoid spillage. When it comes to making a fresh batch of coffee, you open the lid and the condensation water runs down the back of the machine onto the bench everytime, even though there is a little lip on the back of the machine to catch the drips it is inefficent. I will be returning this to the shop as it has a basic design fa...Read more

Not as good as it looks
After paying a bit more for a machine that has an auto timer and looks great we were disappointed when it only produced warm coffee, had a narrow area for water filling and has now stopped working after 3 months of use.our latest purchase was under $20 and is the first ever coffee maker we have bought that gives piping hot coffee
Looks good
Cold coffee ...difficult to fill water area ...condensation drips all over bench

Excellent Drip Coffee Macine. Simple to use.
The machine is simple to use and produces great drip coffee. I bought this machine for $50 from Clive Anthony against the objections of my wife, who thought it would be a waste of money given her previous experience with similar machines. Even though we have several other espresso machines in the house, much to my surprise, my wife now keeps asking me to make her coffees from this machine.
The cup measure on the machine relates to 150ml cups. The instructions say to make a minimum of 4 cups, which equated to about two and half mugs. Using st...Read more
rong ground coffee requires a very heaped teaspoon per each of their cups. Or one and a half teaspoons when using lighter coffee. If you don't turn the machine off after the coffee is brewed, it will keep the content of the pot warm for the next two hours before switching itself off. In Program mode, you can set it to brew coffee at any particular time you wish. The really interesting thing about the performance of this machine is the difference in result compared to our espresso machines. Coffee from it is very similar to the smooth coffee one gets from Robert Timms coffee bags. Thus we have some packets of strong ground coffee which we didn't really like all that much when used in our espresso machines, but which came out really nice from this machine. The filter is very easy to clean. The water container is very fairly narrow, and you really have to use something with a spout to get the water in without spillage.Similar opinion? Quick and easy to use
I found the machine quick and easy to use, unlike a lot of percolators, this one brews your coffee pretty quickly and tastes great. Only fault is that unless you like black coffee it isn't hot enough, but then again that's most percolators for you! Customer service is very helpful and friendly also
Brews the coffee in record time and has a safety cut of thing, so if you leave it on for far too long after you use it it turns the machine off
Good temperature coffee if you like it black but I like mine with milk (only a tiny bit) and I find I have to microwave it afterwards, then again I like really hot coffee

Bought from Harvey Norman on special for $69. It is so easy to use and makes lovely coffee. I am a black coffee drinker and is perfect for me. When making coffee for my husband who likes his white with two sugars, I pour the milk and sugar into his cup first and put in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds and he has perfectly hot coffee every time.
In coffee shops when you order coffee they will always heat the milk first before adding. It should be no different when making it at home.
If the coffee gets to boiling point you have burnt coffee ...Read more

I bought a Breville coffee machine in May 2022. It worked fine and in December I had problems. The red light came on but coffee didn’t filter through. I took it back to the store and it was replaced. 2nd machine has been fine until this morning. Same problem with light on but it won’t make coffee! I’m quite disappointed as it’s a fantastic machine and coffee is excellent. Please let me know what needs doing!! It’s lockdown and the store is still closed! I’m contacting you from Namibia, so cannot call helpline. Thank you...... J Stafford

Sounds like your machine needs cleaning, it is blocked. Add two thirds water and one third white vinegar to tank. Place jug in position as if you are making coffee and just turn on. Let it drip through and then tip out jug. Run a tank of clean water through coffee machine and then it should be good to go, if not repeat process. Rinse out filter and jug to get rid of vinegar aftertaste. If you don't want to use vinegar you can purchase a descaling cleaner from the supermarket. You should clean your machine approx. every month, if you use daily.
Thank you. I will give it a try and let you know.
Good morning again. I have tried the cleaning process, but still nothing!!! Help please!!!!!

It's still going strong and we've only ever used Harris paper filters. We run it three times a day: at 6, 4 then 8 "cups" on the gauge. Hey, we use mugs :)
I'm about to mod it too.Our clock actually *speeds up* approximately one minute per week.
