Infuser BES840BKS (Black Sesame)

The pump on my machine does not stop. I received the machine secondhand as a gift about 4 months ago and today when the machine was switched on at the wall, the motor/pump sound started immediately without me hitting the on button and water flowed through the machine and was immediately deposited hot into the drip tray. The machine doesn't seem to care about whether it is on or off, only if power is flowing through it. Any ideas?

Hi. I recently bought a Breville Infuser. I started using it and noticed that my pressure guage doesn't move. I used a bathroom scale to see the tamping pressure and it 30 lbs and over. I bought a bag of espresso roast from Starbucks and had them grind it for me. I use the unpressurized basket and it doesn't move. I use the pressurized basket and it barely moves. Any thoughts?

if the coffee runs through in about 30 seconds, and it looks and tastes OK with decent crema, I'd suggest the gauge is broken. If it's still under warranty can you get the shop to take a look?

So far these are my observations.

Pressurized single shot basket- barely reach espresso zone-little crema

Pressurized double shot basket- pre-infusion stage-barely any crema

Unpressurized single shot basket-able to reach perfect espresso stage-perfect crema

Unpressurized double shot basket- no movemen-no crema.

I don't understand your comment above- it sounds like the gauge is working. If that's not what you mean and the gauge is not moving at all altho you're getting good crema, you need to bring it in for service to get the gauge fixed,

The only other thing i can think of - is it possible that SB ground your beans way too coarse. It should be like fine sand,

I have had my machine for 3 or 4 years now and love the coffee. I make 3 or 4 coffees a weekend, so not heavy use.
Now the Double shot function has stopped working correctly.
First it started making too much coffee, Correctly pre-infusing the grind but then trying to make over 250 ml of coffee. (Was using default settings all of the time.)
I tried programming it with no success. The beeps and process all wnet smoothly, but when you then make a coffee the water does not stop automatically. But does stop with a manual press of the button. Now it makes a half second noise and does not even infuse the grind.
Is there any software reset or something can do please?

Thanks. Unplugging for 12 hours overnight, and then reprogramming the time for a double shot seems to have worked thanks. Unplugging for a short time did not though.

Your machine should have a black flexible disk. You need cleaning tablets (doesn't matter which brand, buy at a coffee supplier or ebay). I use a half tablet as that is enough.
1. Turn the machine OFF. MUST BE OFF (see steps 7 and 8)
2. Fill the water reservoir and empty the trays (otherwise it will overflow during the cleaning cycle)
3. Put any sieve (coffee basket) in the handle
4. Put the black disk on top of the sieve (hollow side up)
5. Put the cleaning tablet in the centre of the black disk and attach the handle to the machine
6. Put a jug under the coffee outlet
7. Hold down BOTH right hand side buttons (the one and two cup),
8. While holding these two buttons, press and HOLD the start button for about three seconds
9. The machine will turn on and the cleaning cycle will start.
The cycle takes about 5-7 mins and is a series of flushes that use about half the reservoir. After the cycle is finished, the machine will beep and turn itself on for normal use.
I often find the tablet isn't fully used.
Recommendations: flush the handles assembly and empty the tray. Refill the reservoir and run a second cleaning cycle without a tablet. Run some steam and water before use.
To unblock the steam outlet, there should be a little pin. I believe the steam nozzle tip can be removed and soaked, if badly blocked. I haven't needed to unblock the nozzle as I thoroughly wipe the nozzle and flush with steam IMMEDIATELY after use.
I usually need to run the cleaning cycle every two or three weeks. You also need to change the filters in the water reservoir every two or three months (depends on tour water quality). They can be bought from Breville. Probably also available online and from coffee suppliers.

Contact the store. Looks like you have a lemon. They are obliged to replace it under law.

Unfortunately I bought it online through JB-HIFI and it was the last one they had in stock, so I don't know how replacements would go?
