Scale on water measuring cup wrong way round!
Hi all. Firstly, I can not believe that Breville customer service have not reported this to everybody who owns one of these. The reason why your eggs are coming out hard is the scale on the water measuring cup is in fact around the wrong way! More water for less eggs? No. Less water means less time, therefore if you are doing just 1 soft boiled egg, only fill the measurer to 7 on the half egg side, 2 eggs to 6 and so on. I had a great soft boiled egg, beautiful runny yolk and nice white outer this morning no need to pick the end, using water to level 7 (lowest).

Used every day
I received mine as a gift from a friend. I love that I can get consistent results every time. I did have to learn that smaller eggs take less time. I use the measurer as a guide only. Bigger eggs take longer, who'd have thought. I love that I can walk away till the buzzer sounds. I deducted a point as the poached egg section is a bit fiddly getting them out. Possibly I need to find a different greasing agent.
I'm so sad this has been discontined, as finally the buzzer ceased to work. It still cooks, but they need to be watched. ...Read more
How lazy am I? September 26th 2018 Update: Loved my Egg Creations This has been my standby snack maker every two or three days. Sadly the buzzer no longer works, so I'm looking forward to finding it's replacement as I'm not good at supervising cooking. Loved being able to walk away and come back when done. You had to slightly adjust the water level with larger eggs, but you'd expect that.

Recommended Water Is Wrong
Bought this years ago and never managed to get soft boiled eggs when going by Breville's recommended water amounts. Through trial and error i recently figured out that for 2 chilled 70g each I needed to measure the water to just under the no. 4 mark in the cup provided for perfectly soft boiled eggs the way i like it.

Not like the older model
I have had an egg creation for 7 years and my soft boiled egg was perfect every morning. Last week it died so off I went and bought another one. What a disappointment. Every 'soft boiled' egg is rock hard and the buzzer is so low in volume that you have to stand next to it while it cooks. My previous one was so loud I could hear it outside which was great. This one is going back immediately. Why have the changed it????

I hope you have also read all the other product reviews as we all have had the same problem. I have returned my egg creation now for a refund. What a shame as I loved my old one and it worked so well.

Poor results for non chilled eggs see other reviews they say the same
I have fresh eggs from my own chickens so the eggs don't get chilled. So no matter what amount of water you use they never never cook how you want them. Today I am off to get a sunbeam egg cooker which doesn't look as good on the bench. However it cooks eggs that have not been chilled perfect to the guide.

I like my Breville Egg creations. Makes life so much easier and reminds me that I have something cooking with the buzzer. I always used to forget the eggs on the stove and would drive me insane. This is exactly what I wanted.

Frustrating
We purchased to make life easier as we love hard boiled eggs, and soft boiled. The measurements on the cup have never produced the desired results and to be honest I have never had to patience to continually adjust the water and waste eggs hoping to get the results we desire. We should be able to read the directions, follow them and get what we paid for. Forget about soft boiled eggs, with the best results we have achieved on the soft boiled was 2/3 hard boiled and 1/3 softish. Coating started coming off the bottom after a short time and for ...Read more
some reason the egg sticks to the shell a lot of the time meaning that peeling the shell away is quite frustrating as you lose chunks of the egg white. Would never buy again. design Very loud buzzer, Measuring cup water levels inaccurate and do not produce correct results, coating comes off after short time, eggs stick to shellSimilar opinion? Wouldn't be without one!
I purchased my Breville Egg Creation about 2 years ago and it's been used around 3 times a week since then. I find it the perfect way to boil a couple of eggs. I don't like eggs that are too well done and the Breville seems to cook them to perfection, once you reduce the amount of water below the indicated amount. For two eggs cooked slightly runny, I put water to just below the 7 mark on the side of the accompanying measure. Don't put too much water or else you'll end up with hard boiled eggs! A little experimentation is required. The Egg Crea...Read more
tion is also a very efficient way to cook as you use next to no water and it has low power consumption. Excellent! Energy efficient. Cooks eggs to perfection. The buzzer at the end of cooking is really loud!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Works well and very simple to use
I like hard boiled eggs, this product does hard boiled eggs very, very well and it's really simple to use, yes it has a loud buzzer but I'd rather that than burn my house down, it makes sure you go and turn it off, like now, not later, hard boiled eggs cook perfectly with no green tinge and having to put them in cold water I always cook 7 eggs at a time, measure the water in the container provided, pierce the eggs and away you go, excellent so simple and virtually no clean up afterwards, just wipe lid tray and base unit, simple :)
Simplicity and perfect hard boliled eggs
nothing is wrong with it if you read the instructions

Disappointing product
I am so disappointed with this product. The measurements for cooking time are so inaccurate. I love soft poached and boiled eggs. I have ended up with either raw eggs or boiled so hard that they are inedible. Perhaps over time I may be able to adjust my measurements but I am not holding my breath. My old sunbeam egg maker was way better!
It's compact and easy to clean
Measurement cup will not produce desired soft eggs. No 'medium' measurement.

I am also disappointed in the Breville egg creatons product. I have found it difficult to get the top off without burning myself from the remaining steam. I too much preferred the sunbeam egg maker.

Dangerous menace in the kitchen
I have two main complaints about this item:
First, the calibration of the little cup they give you to measure out the correct quantity of water (and, killer511, to puncture your eggs with) is about as far from reality as you can get. To soft boil two eggs, I have to put in a quantity of water that is supposed to be appropriate for more than seven!
Second, it is almost impossible to get your boiled eggs out without scalding yourself. The atmosphere under the dome-like cover (that has no handle) is steam at 100 deg C, so you have to put the bla...Read more

Excellent
We were given this Egg creations egg maker so that we could make perfectly soft boiled eggs each time. However after following the instructions they were over cooked. We wrote to breville and they gave us some tips on adjusting the water and we eventually got it right. Now we can cook eggs perfectly and easily each time with as little mess as possible and so much more quicker than having to boil water on the stove first. Highly recommended
Great little egg cooker! No mess, easy to use, easy to clean. Cute looking unit
Suggested measurements are not accurate. Took us 4 attempts to get perfect soft boiled eggs

Great little time saver
I have found this to be excellent value in the kitchen. The eggs come out exactly as I like them, each and every time. I don't use it that often, but when I do, its been quick, clean and easy.
Easy to use, quick and clean and perfect eggs every time.
Nothing that I can see yet.

i love soft boiled eggs and this makes them so easy to make and once you prefect it you will use it all the time, its also very easy to clean
this is so great for me as i could never get the eggs right when boiling in water so this makes things so easy, it is easy to use, very easy to clean, takes no time and you get the perfect eggs everytime
the only thing is that there are different size eggs therefore different cooking times so experiment with it and you will perfect the perfect soft boiled eggs in no time

Messy!
We found this messy and eggs usually erupt like a volcano. Easier to use a saucepan. Hard to peel them too. We ended up packing and donating this.
Hmm... Does poached eggs alright.
When trying to boil eggs, it's not as clean as we hoped.

Questions & Answers
Jill Masked
Hi. My granny gave me one of these machines which she had never used but she has lost the instructions and after reading the reviews, the measuring jug as well. I am happy to measure in another jug but can you please forward me the amount of water required and an instruction manual if possible.
Regards
Jill
1 answer
Jill, please send us an email to [email protected] and we will be happy to forward the instruction book to you. The water required for hard boiled eggs is 1 egg = 100ml then reduce by 10ml for each additional egg added. For Medium or soft boiled eggs 1 egg = 55ml then reduce by 5ml for every egg added.

Is it possible to obtain a replacement plastic water measuring cup?
1 answer
Hi, I am not sure as I just use the cup the opposite way, i.e, cooking 1 egg use the minimum water i.e 7, 2 eggs 6 3 eggs 5 etc. The funny thing is the printing on the side of the main unit is around the wrong way as well. Not much to be said of Breville quality control:)
