Perfect little rice cooker

published

Cooks up to 10 cups of rice, and that is a lot of rice for a lot of people. We've only ever use it to cook jasmine rice.
Pros:
Easy to clean
Teflon lining lasts 3 years and counting
Cons:
Takes 25 mins to cook 2 cups of rice and longer for more cups

Can't complaint!

published

Very good rice box/cooker. Reliable, cheaper and simple. Cooking rice is perfect. We are using an earlier version of this rice box then now using the latest version. 4 of my friends also using. Importantly, we can take this with us during travelling. We used to cook chicken biryani, pulav etc... Easy cleaning. All good.

6 months!

published

Brought this from Noel keening on April after the previous Rice box died. The previous one we got lasted a little over 1 year. However this one was even worse. It lasted only 6months! Lucky it's still under warranty. Terrible! Was expecting it to last at least 2 years for the price paid.

Absolutely brilliant

published

I was given The Rice Box as a gift and was so impressed with its ease of use, performance and simple, quick cleaning. I use it several times a week and would highly recommend it. I also like the fact that I can put it on and go to work knowing it can cook the rice and keep it warm, ready for dinner when I get home.

My First ever Rice Cooker

published

I have been steaming and boiling rice the traditional way for years and finally made the rice cooker switch and haven't looked back . The rice is perfect every time, fluffy and slightly sticky restaurant style .My favourite is sushi rice to use with this cooker but other types of rice can also be used . It comes with a steamer basket that you place on top of the rice if you want to steam vegetables etc while the rice is cooking .

Good rice cooker

published

Good rice cooker, I cook sunrice jasmine once a day on this, it came up pretty well but not as fluffy as one would have expected like in a Japanese restaurant. Great looking, not complicated to use, pretty heavy pot. I usually rinse the rice on a different container then put them in the cooking pot once its clean, so I hope I dont scratch the pot coating. Bought mine from Myer Ebay store for under $72

Good but died after 14 months

published

Rice cooked good, older model 450 cooked better. The 460 is more compact but died after 14 months. We cooked rice about 3 times a week. The 450 lasted for 6 years but threw out as bow got damaged and rubber on lid turned dirty. Not sure what to buy now.

Love this rice cooker.

published

I've had this rice cooker for 2-3 years (can't remember when I bought it) and use it regularly. I love it. Just put the rice and water in, close the lid, switch it on, and it's all ready in a short time. I also love the "Crispy Rice" (which is, essentially, overcooked, burnt rice), but with the butter used, it's really good (in my opinion, anyway). The bowl just goes in the dishwasher once finished. I recommend this cooker to anyone.

Low quality

published

This rice cooker worked well while it lasted. However I have only brought it for 1 year and 2 months before it broke. Unfortunately it had just pasted it's warranty. The C3 lights keep on flashing and I am unable to do anything about it. From the reviews here, it seems like a common problem for this model. I had also tried to email and called Breville a few times but without success. It was quite unfortunate that it only lasted for such a short time. Otherwise it's a very nice rice cooker

Excellent

We still had our old Kambrook rice cooker where rice got sticky to the bottom part. Little did we know that this was dangerous. So we decided to buy a new one. Upon review from a good friend, we bought this product. It is amazing, the rice is so fluffy, easy to use and clean, and no more rice stuck at the bottom. Have not used for any other function.

You don't know what is good rice

published

Me and my taiwanese partner were given this as a house warming present but cant stand it. At our last house we shared a japanese brand tiger rice cooker and that thing cooked rice to an absolute perfection and was still fantastic 8 hours later. After having the best, the rice box quickly becomes a useless peice of junk. Everyone who gives it a 5 star then i pitty you that you dont know what good rice is. Go give this to any asian and see what they have to say about it. the warm setting is terrible and makes the rice even more gluggier too. Look for my ad on gumtree selling this for 5 buck.

No rice water splatter

published

Finally a rice cooker at a good price that does not cook the boot on of the rice hard while keeping warm and does not spit sticky rice water all over the bench and surrounds. Love it, can set and forget while you get on and cook the rest of the meal. Very easy cleaning as well. Only had 2 weeks, so hope no mechanical issues.

Fantastic Rice Cooker

published

Cooks rice perfectly every time without sticking to the bowl. Haven't had a single issue with it.

In my opinion, it's the best rice cooker in its price range. The unit is also built very well and lots of options to choose from to cook your rice including soup and porridge

I was happy but now dissapointing

published

It is just 11 months and two weeks old. Work finely. I thought it is the best I got. No mess like the regular rice cookers. But I got the C3 error and not work now. My cheaper rice cookers work much longer than this. Still it is under warranty.

For the price, it hasnt even lasted as long as my previous el cheapo

published

Very disappointed with it, after 2 years of use it just died with a c3 error. My 10 year old $20 cooker hasn't missed a beat yet and is put to use again.
The non stick coating was also peeling off after 6 months, so the rice was sticking to the bottom.
The first 6 months of cooking was good. Read another review about the c30 error and how it is due to bad build quality where the connections snap under the lids hinge. Not Happy!

Don't buy

published

I have a Breville kettle, it is worked fine. Hence my decision to buy Breville rice box rice cooker. Not the case with the rice cooker, after just 1year, it died with C3 error. If you want to buy $100 rice cooker, try other brands. Learn from other people's mistakes, not your own.

My rice box suddenly stopped cooking rice and have tried for a while to see if I can do anything to sort it but no luck. Approximately 2 and half years old.
