Love cooking in this. Everything comes out perfect
We love the food that comes out of it every time. To be able to cook on the stove and finish in the oven is great.

So versatile!
Received chasseur dish as a free offer when I purchased an oven. Cast iron, so it is rather heavy, even when empty but does have the big advantage of being able to use on gas hob then into oven and then straight to table - all in one dish! Saves on washing up and looks good on table.

Will last forever!
This is a dish that will last for a very long time. It cooks evenly and most important of overall is very easy to clean. It is a little heavy but you get used to it. The only negative thing is that they are quite expensive but you get what you pay for.
Easy to cook in and very easy to clean

Love love love it!
I received this as a bonus with my fridge purchase- to be honest it was part of the reason that I purchased that particular fridge. I mainly use it making my rice pudding and when I use this pan it comes out way better than any other dish that I put it in. I cannot wait until winter so I can make some casseroles in it! I also cannot until I buy more of the Chasseur cookware:)
great heat retention, transfers from stove top to oven, easy cleaning

Best soup/casserole cooker
I received this as a present and have used it to cook both soups and casseroles. It is good for soups as you can put it at on a very low flame on a gas cook top and let it simmer away. There was no sign of burning or sticking.
I also used it for a pot roast chicken which is almost impossible in light weightl cookware. I wpould consider acquiring more of the same cookwar.
Easy to use and particularly easy to clean

Great frypan. Pleasure to use
My first cast iron frypan - I bought the Chasseur 28cm cast iron frypan in inferno red. Looks awesome and great to use. I was worried about food sticking but so far I have had no problem. Easy to clean too. Love it! I bought it online at Everten - great price too.
Looks good, easy to use
Heavy! But that was expected. Just don't buy it expecting otherwise. Hard to lift when full of food with just one hand.

I've got two!
I bought a large round pot the first time and loved cooking in it. Very easy to do a casserole by starting the cooking process on the stove top and then transferring to a warm oven - saves washing two pans. Also found its high sides kept my stove cleaner because it doesn't spatter so much so I bought a smaller (med size) oval pot and use it most nights - makes a great spaghetti bol! Turn it down and put the lid on and the juices stay in the pan. It acts as a tagine in this way too so you can also make your Moroccan dishes with this pot. Loved the brand so much we also bought a cast iron grill to cook salmon - splendid.
Versatile. Agree with other reviewer - food seems to taste better!
Heavy but that's why it's so good.

Excellent cookware!!
I bought two casserole pots 3.8 litres in this aubergine series after i got sick and tired of my so expensive bessemer cookware which I bought the whole set and it dissapointed me after six months of very gentle use the non stick of the pans are seeming to flake. So I decided to buy la chassuer and oh boy did I make the right choice? Definately yess! I can't believe how good this cookware is and it's a breeze to clean. It does not retain the odours of the food previously cooked in it unlike other non-stick pots and pans like bessemer which woul...Read more
d leave you with the smell of food which had been cooked in it even if you washed it thoroughly a couple of times. Chassuer pots washes off so clean with no odours no matter what you cooked in it. Having used this for a week now I don't want to use any other pots. Im definately going to buy some more Chassuer pots and pans and would recommend anyone who is thinking of buying it. I love them and I still have to make out what to love it more for, the way it cooks or the way it looks! Very pretty. I love it for both reasons, the way it cooks and for the way it looks:)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it!
This is such an amazing product! I swear my food has gotten better since using this master.
It's great for slow cooking and really marinates pasta sauce etc. Just be sure to use non-stick cookware otherwise you will ruin the base of you pot, I've also invested in some Chasseur cleaner that works perfectly. I love this, I've bought my mum one also, the ultimate cooker!

Servicable cast iron cookware
Cast iron cookware seems to polarise people. You either love it, or hate it. The latter is usually due to bad experiences through improper use.
Would I fry an egg in a cast iron pan? No. Fry chicken thighs? No.
Would I make a casserole, soup, stew, pasta sauce or braise? Yes!
The trick is to use medium heat, never high. Meals that have a sauce or liquid clean the pan (deglaze) as you cook. Dry frying (this includes using oil) will leave burnt proteins stuck stubbornly to the surface. Making a sauce will lift these easily.

e several pieces of Chasseur, with both the gloss and matte cooking surfaces. Both are superb (and clean!). In my collection is the grill pan, the stacking saucepans, 26cm frypan and a 30cm shallow casserole dish. One of these is used nearly every day.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Really Impressive!
I wanted the Le Creuset but ended up with the Le Chasseur, which was to my mind the same thing at a far reduced price. And I love it! Use it regularly, and it never disappoints! Easy to clean, heavy and sturdy, and I know without a doubt that I'll be using it for the next twenty years at least!
Great quality product, very easy to clean.

very dissapointed
I am not that rich but i was sick of cheap frying pan so i saved up for a good one. buying a Chasseur frying pan. aprx 300ml in size.Cast iron. I definitely made a bad choice.I expected a much superior product for the price i paid.I dont even use it any more.
The colour
I thought that paying more for a frying pan would represent a very good one.but unfortunately i was wrong.it is hard to clean and everything sticks to it..when you cook with it the handle gets to a ridiculous heat you can burn yourself chose to buy cast iron so i should have done more homework.cast iron is very heavy.

Can't wait to buy more Chasseur products
I had wanted a cast iron cookpot for ages and was so excited to get the big French Oven for my birthday in my favourite colour. It has been used for lots of dishes...soups, stews, pasta sauces, but it mostly gets used to cook the yummiest curries. I have actually been quite surprised at how little it ends up getting stained after a long slow cook with fresh ground spices brewing away in it. And, yes sometimes the food will stick a little if I have it too hot, so if you keep the temperature down to medium or below and also keep an eye on it and ...Read more
stir when needed it won't stick. It's not rocket science, just trial and error. ps I will definitely try the baking soda after my next curry, thanks perook :) It's like the stove top version of cooking in an AGA oven, cooks the food through beautifully so it melts in your mouth A little on the expensive side, but quality product and a lifetime investment. Pleased to see them on sale at such reasonable prices at the momentSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Everything I'd hoped it would be
I've just bought a Le Chasseur french oven. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Glad I chose the 26cm and not a smaller one. I love the beautiful French Blue. As for the cleaning? No problems at all. When using on top of the stove you don't need the heat up on the highest setting as the pan conducts heat so well. You need to stir food regularly to stop it sticking when you are using it on the hot plate. After several hours in the oven, slow cooked food does leave residue food marks. But these disappear easily by filling the empty pan with hot soapy water and soaking for a little while. Then empty pan and sprinkle with bi-carb soda and then wipe over with a damp sponge. Comes up spotless immediately.

gorgeous and hardwearing
I bought this about three years ago from Victoria's Basement, and while it seemed like an extravagance at the time, I'm very glad I own it. The only thing I wish I'd done was listen to the advice 'get the biggest one' - I got the oval shaped casserole dish rather than the larger round one, and frequently (because I get a bit carried away chopping up veggies) end up having to put some of the mix into my backup pyrex dish, with disappointing results. Anyway, I would not hesitate to buy this brand again: my casserole dish is a very good quality, solid piece of work, easy to clean and does the job you need it to.
lovely colour, well made, does the job!
a good cast iron casserole will always set you back a bit - but it will be with you for life

A very good product!
After reading all other 5 reviews, I was quite hesitant to go and buy this product. But I thought, it is a very renowned brand, how can it be so bad? So I went and bought one at Victoria's Basement to see for myself. And I proved what I read wrong!
Easy to use, easy to clean! Cooks the meat through with awesome flavours!

IMO an absolute menace to one's metal health when trying to keep clean.
The Chasseur Saute pan supplied was rough on the cooking surface - not the nice smooth enamel surface that one would expect of a twice enamelled surface that Le Chasseur describe the goods as having. Nonetheless after reading the instruction booklet supplied and the assurances contained therein that the pan would be easy to clean a decision was made to use the goods that evening. The pan was washed by hand and had oil applied to the surface. Chicken was cooked in the supplied pan on a Miele induction cooktop with a low setting of just 5.5. With...Read more
this care and attention the food itself cooked evenly and did not stick to the bottom of the pan, however, the pan had food residue stuck to the bottom. The pan was soaked in water and detergent for some time and after half an hour of scrubbing with a nylon brush the pan is almost clean. The old bare cast iron frypan ($10) that we salvaged years ago from our camping gear and used concurrently with the new Le Chasseur was clean in seconds, as too was the also used Tupperware saucier ($280). Quite frankly, it is my opinion that I have never had such rubbish in my house as this Le Chasseur item. Our Le Creuset items are spotless with minimal attention after several uses. They have a smooth enamel finish on the inside, as one would expect. In my opinion and I feel certain, the opinion of any reasonable person this Le Chasseur item, as supplied, is unmerchantable. Looks pretty on a shelf Difficult to clean as appears to be the case with other persons who have left commentSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent
I love my dutch oven! I wish I had spent the money and bought one 20 years ago. What a great bit of cookware.
I bought this after constant replacements and finally ditching some of my Scanpans. It was money well spent. I can put a casserole or soup on - it gets hot enough to brown onions or meat, then once the liquid is added it just burbles away very slowly. The Scanpans used to conduct heat TOO well sometimes, so it was impossible to get it low enough to cook slowly.
You should note that the Chasseur pots are not non-stick - food...Read more
will stick to the bottom, but they are quite easy to clean. Soak in cold water once the pot has cooled, then a bit of elbow grease with a light scourer is more than enough to get it clean. It is very heavy though - I made a recipe which requires draining the stock to make a sauce, and it was impossible to lift and drain - had to use a ladle to get the stock out. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Slow, slow cooking; relatively easy to clean. Rather heavy! and a little bit on the expensive side. Not non-stick.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

!! and always looks dirty from then on and becomes increasingly harder to clean. I swore not to ever buy enameled cast iron again, until I visited Scullerymade Imports in Melbourne Australia. They have a cast iron range that really works. French made, with matt black enamel (not cream) inside. The black takes much higher temperatures, great for browning meats, onions etc. before deglazing and adding the balance of your casserole recipe. Even if you were to overheat any discoloration is concealed by the color. Furthermore, most of their cast iron casseroles have a "doufeu" lid, which can help casseroles from drying out. I haven't see this range anywhere else, but I am glad they are there and stock such a great range. I have now re-kindled my interest and love for enameled cast iron, thanks to this well thought out product and Scullerymade for selling it.
