So unfair in quarantine time
Hi
I’m writing with regards to Coles supermarkets in Australia. For nearly a month, they made a huge profit because people were rushing to hoard everything; because people were worried about their future and other maybe illogical reasons. However, have a look at Coles catalogs and their sale and discounted items for that last 4 weeks. They’re simply ridiculous, there is no useful item at all. Is this a proper response to people in these tough times. What’s more annoying is the expiry date of products which is hugely noticeable. You buy everyth...Read more

Mouldy ravioli
I bought some ravioli from Coles Canberra Centre and kept it in the fridge for a few weeks before eating. When I opened the sealed packet, there was mould in at least a third of it.
It was still a month to the best before date, and I put it straight in the fridge when I got home (so it wouldn't have been out for more than 30-45 mins in traveling from the store).
Coles won't take responsibility because it's not their brand, I also didn't keep the receipt.
Lesson: buyer beware and keep your receipt

Dont buy this rice.
I put this pack into the microwave for 90 seconds and look what resulted. The smell was worse than you could imagine. It was black and sludgy.
I will never buy it again.
Packed in Thailand from imported ingredients- should know better. I had to demand a refund as I didn't have the docket or the filthy product. They certainly weren't keen on refunding my money- who keeps dockets for rice? and why would I take this disgusting mess back to the supermarket?- We couldnt even keep it in the house bin.

caring & great customer service
The staff at this store are all very nice and helpful when you ask them a question or help with an item. They stop what they were doing and go out of there way to show the way to a item

Fantastic store
I shop at Coles very often. Every time I shop there I get greeted by very friendly staff. They stock all the lines I like and if they don't have a product I ask them if they can order it

I was charged twice ($466.60 + $466.60) for the same goods at Coles Westfield Hornsby.
Here's how it went.... I bought $266.60 products and $200 cash out.
I inserted my card and PIN.. the transaction was advised as approved and I was advised to remove my card (on the tap screen).
The operator asked me to insert my card again as her screen advised 'no communications'. I opened my NAB account and the transaction had been debited to my account. I showed the operator and she called her supervisor. The supervisor advised th...Read more

Dandy Bacon
Purchased 250g pre packed Dandy bacon. 3 slices, when opened 2/3 of it was just fat. We were lucky to get enough bacon to feed the two of us. Very disappointing

Self checkouts the worst of the supermarkets, "stone baked" bakeries the best of the supermarkets
Positives:
- Stores with the "stone baked" sourdough bakery products. Finally some bread that's worth eating unlike the usual boring-white-bread-only culprits of Woolworths, Bakers Delight, Brumby's, etc.
- Logical floor layouts (pantry "basic" items grouped together followed by pantry "junk food" items grouped together followed by laundry items grouped together, etc).
Negatives:
- Self checkout experience is frustrating due to the requirement to weigh each item scanned (Woolworths doesn't have this problem). For smaller convenience/city stores I'd rather shop at Woolworths if available nearby for this reason alone.
- EFPTOS cash out limits at self checkouts are capped too low (Woolworths is better).
- Coin operated trolleys.

The virus won’t kill you the filth on Coles freezer shelves will..
The freezer bottoms at roselands Westfield are literally full of bacteria ! Filth. Dirt! Bugs .. I took photos as proof of evidence . What are they doing ? When filling the freezers ? Filth filth dirt filth!! And for a real disease use Coles trollies ! The bacteria on the base trolly is thick ! Black !! & literally looks like tar !! I relaid this info to front staff so they can relay to Mgt .. but this is everywhere ... people are getting paid and not fully doing their jobs .. where’s the Australian health ..& why is this allowed??

Not all Coles customers are treated equally
Those Coles supermarkets near to higher density living and especially those nearer to the CBD never seem to possess items which were normally stocked prior to Covid 19 whereas those Coles supermarkets outside of these areas possess sufficient supplies. I refer in particular to Isocol, the packs with larger numbers of toilet rolls, sanitiser refills, and disinfectant surface sprays. Coles must be aware by now that their inner city branches are quite close to transport hubs or in suburbs that allow all-day parking thereby allowing persons outsi...Read more
de the precinct to avail themselves of those branches that are open longer and for those hours considered inconvenient for most shoppers. Could Coles please stock these branches with a few more of the essential health items? Also, you might want to look at diversifying your tomatoe puree suppliers. I hear they all come from Italy at present.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Coles for a big supermarket is amazing. Staff are friendly, clean shops wide variety and revolutionary layout. They seem to invest more money in making their stores and staff better and it really shows. Kudos coles!

Rotten nectarines..grapes..old tiny roasting potatoes half the size of an egg and suspect meat !
Rotting fruit and partially frozen meat all at exorbitant prices. What are you buying? Four sub standard products in one purchase. Coles you are taking advantage of this virus to off load your old stock. Shame on you. I will no longer enter your store.

Re-stocking of shelves
Why have coles got no stock? They've employed thousands of new staff yet shelves are still bare. Are selfish morons still stockpiling?
Woolworths has stacks of toilet paper on their shelves, unfortunately it's too expensive for me, yet coles has none!! One day I was told that they didn't get a delivery the night before. Come on coles get your act together, if woolworths can do it, why can't you?

Local and Well Stocked
I'm a fan. So close and well stocked and they have everything I need. I understand that they take business away from some of the smaller local companies which is a shame and I definitely recommend everyone to support local businesses. I always get other items from my local grocer, butcher, health store, etc but for everyday convenience Coles do a great job

Questions & Answers
John H.asked
directed to the Coles Supermarket, Castle Towers-Castle Hill NSW.
what is the Store health & safety policy in respect of 'on the job tobacco smoking'?
employees -wearing Coles identity branded vests regularly gather at the entry from carpark to store (within the confins of the building) and eat & smoke. The area is the main access to the retail food & fast food halls.
correct me if i am wrong -- my belief is 'smoking'is prohibited within public buildings.

Have you complained to Coles or the centre management of Castle Towers or the health Dept. I dont know why you would be complaining here for in the1st place on a public review forum.
It happens in every shopping center across Australia If you are that worried about it use a different entrance or shop on line or stay home
Coles don’t respond here. What did Centre mgt say when you spoke to them ?

Why are toilet rolls still being sold in blocks of 32 rolls. Sizes of 8 or 10 may give everyone a chance to have some. I went to your randwick store. By the time the elderly went through the shop 7am to 8am they cleared it out again. Maybe 30 mins would be better. We also ended up buying a lot of our shopping also at harris farm while we waited until we could get into coles. These arrangements are bad for your business. Thank you for your time. Darryl.
