Epping Costco Warehouse Manager "John" very rude and unhelpful !!!
Warehouse manager "John" very rude and unhelpful. I waited in line outside just like everyone else for 1hr but realised after i got in that i forgot my credit card in my car and asked a staff member at the entrance if i could go back to the car to get my wallet without having to wait again in the long cues outside but was denied, then when I said it was an honest mistake and should be given some discretion, the staff member at the entrance called the warehouse manager "John" who threatened to cancel my membership. I will be reporting this to AC...Read more
CC and Costco head office. This so called manager has no professionalism and has an ego treating customers like peasants in these tough times because nobody's reporting him. He needs to get a reality check and see what is happening around the world. John, I hope you start to appreciate the fact that you still have a job and don't have to wait outside the centrelink office for days like many other thousands of unemployed people...Similar opinion? Plastic land-wrapping and more wrapping
I refunded my membership today as I just could not continue to see the amount of plastic/packaging material Costco uses. Even though consumer buys bulk quantities, Costco actually doesn't reduce packaging on usually packed products. Rather they pack multiples again in plastic. They also pack fruits, greens, fresh produce and anything and everything with plastic that they do not even take back for recycling.

Touchy Register Tape Checker
It's bad enough, that we now have to purchase hot drinks from a vending machine, but I only drink tea, and that's the one drink the machine, doesn't dispense. I don't pay a membership fee, only to have things taken away. First it was sausage rolls, and now tea. I then wait in line to have my register tape checked, and noticed that the checker was touching and moving peoples groceries, in their trolleys. I was furious to think that she was actually moving people's items, she should only look, and check, never touch. When it was my turn, she...Read more
asked how I was, and I replied, that it depends if she touches my stuff or not. She looked amazed when I said that, but then she went to touch my stuff, to which I replied to her to not touch my stuff. In all, I had to say three times for her not to touch my anything. These checkers make you feel like a thief-not impressed. Kaufland will be here before we know it, so Costco had better watch out.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not what I ordered
I ordered a birthday cake for my husbands 70th birthday, which was to have raspberry filling in it. It wasn’t until the cake was cut I saw it was filled with a layer of thick cream and not the jam I had ordered. Not the end of the world but I expected to get what I’d ordered. Far too much cream so unfortunately most of it was not eaten.

New store great location
The new store is greatly appreciated as it is central for all in the north. I appreciate that it is the same size store as the rest and same great value.

Costco is great for what it is!
I’m not sure about a lot of the negative reviews?! If you’re prepared going into the warehouse, you should be right. My wife and I went to the Epping warehouse today and the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful! I see a lot of complaints about the negatives buying in bulk, but that’s their main thing which is common knowledge so why go there in the first place? Also people complaining about lack of customer service (not that my wife or I experienced anything negative). The reason Costco can offer savings on quite a few products is be...Read more
cause they save on wages having less staff and also buying in bulk/wholesale prices from certain businesses on certain product lines and that’s where you can save money. My advice is before you go, go in knowing what products you use and the the Coles or Woolworths price is and compare. You’ll definitely be able to save money on some things. There are also a few things that are more expensive. We knew this before today from reading reviews or talking to friends and we walked in and like I said, the staff we met were great and we saved money on three or four things. That’s it, I got nothing negative to say really apart from that bigger families will get more from a membership than say a couple or individual, although those that have pets can save heaps too.Similar opinion? Feels good to be in America
I visited a costco for the first time this month. Great Organic beef burgers. Hot dog with drinks for $2.
Hugh isles with just tones of crap. Meat costs decent and large servings of old classics.
Snacking away on a bag of 1.35kg of Reese buttercups. Loving life.

Good place for things that you need, but you need to know what other retailers charge!!
All items are not cheap at Costco!! You really need to know your prices and compare them with other retailers. The only thing is that you get Kirkland products which are exclusive to Costco. The range of tablets are great and their nuts are pretty good too.
There are long waits to pay for your stuff and I always check the online catalogs, as I find that Costco sometimes don't advertise the items that are on special.
The meat is good quality but a bit more expensive.

Checkout staff - very, very poor service
Firstly when was the last time your feedback box in the shop was cleared? It is 3 feet high and no space for another form. Secondly after presenting my Costco membership card with my clear photo why was I rudely asked for additional ID by staff serving on aisle 5 at 4.40PM on 29/6/19? When asked why, she said it is her right! Do you think it could be poor training or a bit of personal dislike for people of other colour other than caucasian or she has optical disability?

Rude Supervisor
Went to the shop yesterday on behalf of my wife (who is at home recovering from a hip replacement operation). Learned that I can't use her membership card/credit card - despite the circumstances we find ourselves in.
Okay, I can handle that - rules are for protecting everybody.
However, the self important and belittling attitude/tone of the senior supervisor (at Docklands,. approx 1.30 pm on 19th June 2022 was appalling. She confiscated "our" card and left without even explaining how i would get out the notoriously dodgy carpark and stormed off without a single attempt to even try to soothe the situation.
Wont be back!!

Petrol savings over the year make it worth the $60 fee
As the heading suggests I generally save $7-10 filling up at costco fuel per tank
Yeah buying in bulk maximises the savings, but even the the bulk items you need to calculate if it’s cheaper than Coles or woolies, you’ll need to know what’s worth it and what’s not when buying there.
Like CK business shirts for $19.99 are worth it, their coupon specials (catalogue sales to members generally have good deals)
As the whingers will talk about $60 annual fee, unfriendly staff, packed on weekends, have to buy in bulk, waiting for petrol, or to get...Read more
service or their membership cards / photo looked at prior to entering the store. To simply avoid this come in during weekdays or if you need to go weekends come in when costco opens earlier in the morning simple as that, and you’ll have a positive experience unlike some of the complainers you’ll read about here. Don’t listen to them, customer service is overrated in this time poor day and age, if you can’t figure it out yourself (read the how to signs, observe other people) and let the Costco staff do their thing you will be fine.Similar opinion? Crazy fuel system!
I have been a Costco member for nearly 12 months and do not propose to renew membership.
I have found the petrol filling system ridiculous. Yes the fuel is cheaper - certainly comparable to the rewards system with supermarkets, but there is invariably a long wait at the pumps. When you get there, it is self serve requiring your Costco card and credit card, but YOU CAN'T JUST FILL UP! You have to pick $25-, $50- etc. If your car won't take the amount you have selected, they state they will give you credit on your bank account! Crazy talk! Why no...Read more

abysmal product management and customer service
I bought a TV there yesterday. When I opened the box later yesterday, the plastic bag containing components was already ripped open with power cord missing and the battery already inside the remote. So I went back to the store to exchange it today. I explained the situations and the staff responded to my query mechanically. I wanted to exchange it with the same TV with all the components inside but she said they could only refund it and I need to buy a new item. But refunded money didn't come through my bank account straight away and the staff ...Read more
said it might take a couple of business days depending on bank. I don't understand why they could take the money straight away when I buy the product but it could take a couple of days when they refund it. I was frustrated by the fact that the staff there responded in a mechanical attitude and said sorry without even looking at me and she didn't look like she meant it. I asked for the store manager and she responded in a similar way. She didn't seem to understand how hard it was for me to understand something like this could happen - a company like Cosco could sell already-opened product with missing components. It seemed to me that even if they made this appalling mistake, they think that all they should do was just refunding it. They didn't care about how frustrating it is for a customer like me to find out that Costco sold this kind of product so that I had to pack the 65'' TV back into the box, load back into the boot and drove all the way back to Costco just to exchange the next day, then found out that Costco's policy was not to exchange but to refund it which takes a couple of days. I asked the manager how could they sell TV suspected to be already opened and missing some components and she said that they would investigate. I asked her to inform me the progress of the investigation but she said that she is not required to do so and wouldn't let me know. So I asked her for Costco headquarters' complaint contact but she gave me Ringwood store's membership team's contact details only. Afterwards, I went inside the store again to check and buy the same TV and found out the packaging of other products (the same TV) is different from what Costco had sold me yesterday - sticky taped only on top and two hard straps covering the box around. What I got yesterday from Costco was with lots of tapes around all top and bottom sides without plastic straps. I inquired with the duty manager why the product I bought was missing some components with different packaging, suspecting they might have put returned product without checking properly whether all components are inside the box. The manager repeatedly claimed that they wouldn't sell returned products without notes on it and the manufacturer might have sent wrong product. But any person with common sense would think that it is more probable Costco put out this product with other new items by mistake or on purpose. I was so frustrated by their attitude unable to express their apology and delayed refund after selling a faulty product in the first place and just left there not buying the TV I intended to purchase. After I left Costco, I went to another electronic store and bought the same product. When I opened the box, I realised that the TV I bought at Costco was also missing 3 more protective foams in the box as well. They should properly manage their products before selling to customer, train their staff to respond customer's complaint in a more sympathetic way and arrange refund to be processed straight away.Similar opinion? Random Price hikes Weekends & Rude Customers/Staff
I do not think I've ever been to a place where I absolutely dread having to go due to the sheer amount of rudeness that goes in in Costco carparks alone. Not only from the staff, but the customers. I have never had a problem with the Customer Service inside Costco, they have been superb! Simply the people outside that pick up trolleys. Customers shoving others about are rude. The prices are always and I mean always cheaper during the weekday trade. However every single time I go on a weekend, the prices are randomly higher. Extremely stra...Read more

I bought 2 Turkish roll 12 packs yesterday 5/1/2020, best before 09/01/20. Found they were mouldy only this evening when I was going to bring them overseas tonight. It was too late for me to get back to Costco to change as it was already after 7pm and heading to the airport. I will not be back until 14/1/20 and have thrown them into the compose bin but have kept the plastic bag as proof. I am also upset that I could not bring them overseas to my brother. I will bring in my complaint on 14/1/20 when I am back.
