Plastic land-wrapping and more wrapping
I refunded my membership today as I just could not continue to see the amount of plastic/packaging material Costco uses. Even though consumer buys bulk quantities, Costco actually doesn't reduce packaging on usually packed products. Rather they pack multiples again in plastic. They also pack fruits, greens, fresh produce and anything and everything with plastic that they do not even take back for recycling.

Touchy Register Tape Checker
It's bad enough, that we now have to purchase hot drinks from a vending machine, but I only drink tea, and that's the one drink the machine, doesn't dispense. I don't pay a membership fee, only to have things taken away. First it was sausage rolls, and now tea. I then wait in line to have my register tape checked, and noticed that the checker was touching and moving peoples groceries, in their trolleys. I was furious to think that she was actually moving people's items, she should only look, and check, never touch. When it was my turn, she...Read more
asked how I was, and I replied, that it depends if she touches my stuff or not. She looked amazed when I said that, but then she went to touch my stuff, to which I replied to her to not touch my stuff. In all, I had to say three times for her not to touch my anything. These checkers make you feel like a thief-not impressed. Kaufland will be here before we know it, so Costco had better watch out.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not what I ordered
I ordered a birthday cake for my husbands 70th birthday, which was to have raspberry filling in it. It wasn’t until the cake was cut I saw it was filled with a layer of thick cream and not the jam I had ordered. Not the end of the world but I expected to get what I’d ordered. Far too much cream so unfortunately most of it was not eaten.

abysmal product management and customer service
I bought a TV there yesterday. When I opened the box later yesterday, the plastic bag containing components was already ripped open with power cord missing and the battery already inside the remote. So I went back to the store to exchange it today. I explained the situations and the staff responded to my query mechanically. I wanted to exchange it with the same TV with all the components inside but she said they could only refund it and I need to buy a new item. But refunded money didn't come through my bank account straight away and the staff ...Read more
said it might take a couple of business days depending on bank. I don't understand why they could take the money straight away when I buy the product but it could take a couple of days when they refund it. I was frustrated by the fact that the staff there responded in a mechanical attitude and said sorry without even looking at me and she didn't look like she meant it. I asked for the store manager and she responded in a similar way. She didn't seem to understand how hard it was for me to understand something like this could happen - a company like Cosco could sell already-opened product with missing components. It seemed to me that even if they made this appalling mistake, they think that all they should do was just refunding it. They didn't care about how frustrating it is for a customer like me to find out that Costco sold this kind of product so that I had to pack the 65'' TV back into the box, load back into the boot and drove all the way back to Costco just to exchange the next day, then found out that Costco's policy was not to exchange but to refund it which takes a couple of days. I asked the manager how could they sell TV suspected to be already opened and missing some components and she said that they would investigate. I asked her to inform me the progress of the investigation but she said that she is not required to do so and wouldn't let me know. So I asked her for Costco headquarters' complaint contact but she gave me Ringwood store's membership team's contact details only. Afterwards, I went inside the store again to check and buy the same TV and found out the packaging of other products (the same TV) is different from what Costco had sold me yesterday - sticky taped only on top and two hard straps covering the box around. What I got yesterday from Costco was with lots of tapes around all top and bottom sides without plastic straps. I inquired with the duty manager why the product I bought was missing some components with different packaging, suspecting they might have put returned product without checking properly whether all components are inside the box. The manager repeatedly claimed that they wouldn't sell returned products without notes on it and the manufacturer might have sent wrong product. But any person with common sense would think that it is more probable Costco put out this product with other new items by mistake or on purpose. I was so frustrated by their attitude unable to express their apology and delayed refund after selling a faulty product in the first place and just left there not buying the TV I intended to purchase. After I left Costco, I went to another electronic store and bought the same product. When I opened the box, I realised that the TV I bought at Costco was also missing 3 more protective foams in the box as well. They should properly manage their products before selling to customer, train their staff to respond customer's complaint in a more sympathetic way and arrange refund to be processed straight away.Similar opinion? The Best Savings
Costco is the most amazing company to purchase all your groceries from. Despite selling in bulk if you are clever and know your prices you can rotate your items of need into 3 to 6 monthly blocks. The store is professionally set out easy to find what you are looking for and the staff are all very friendly and keen to assist.

COSTCO Offers Bad Attitude instead of Customer Service, when the customers realised being OverCharge
It appears that I am not the first or the last person whom altered the stores about being overcharged for an advertised item at a lower cost, when I noted the error on my receipt before leaving the store recently.
It is also evident from the series of complaints about the same issue, COSTCO's people are trained to make customers to wait at least 10 Minutes, before they can make a Price Check on an item in there.
Then they literally throw the Overcharged amount at the customers, Without Expressing any Regrets or an Apology for the False A...Read more
dvertising an item and Holding the Customers to wait over 10 minutes to correct their "mistakes" of Overcharging. I have found that Stores Supervisors Often are Very Rude and Crude type of People, lack the basic qualities and qualifications to deal with the Customers in there. Costco -customer service excellence
What a brilliant company. The customer service is the best I have ever experienced. We bought a Woll fry pan from the Ringwood store at one of their roving in store road shows. It was an expensive pan with the removable handle to enable placing it in the oven. Well after it broke i contacted Costo online about where i could purchase another handle as we had dropped the handle, and they gave me 2 options 1) bring in the pan for a full refund -no questions asked or 2) a new handle. We chose the new handle as we live 60km away so it was more conve...Read more
nient and I did not want to be without my pan while purchasing a new one. That is it, no hassle what so ever, today 2 days later I have just received a tracking number to track my handle. Customer service excellent. No stress at all. Here is another story, my husband about a year ago bought a computer-got it home and when he opened the box the screen had a crack in it. Again we contacted Costco online and they said come back a swap it over-no hassle. This is truly a great company with great customer service. I told them to shove their membership.
Tried to join Costco today as my USA membership expired 6 months ago. Had to show the service staff proof of address if I wanted to have a joint card with my daughter. I showed them my bank account details with her address and they accused me of doctoring the statement to show her address. I told them to shove their membership. How absurd to pay someone to allow you to spend your money in their store.

Amazing
Find this much better and economical than shopping at supermarkets. Their monthly deals are real deals. Costco fuel is also great. Their prices are generally the lowest. You get back the membership fee in savings after your first shop!

Great if you live close buy and like electronic goods, even if you are single
Many items, such as fruit and veggies, have a modest discount if you buy in bulk and only an advantage for large families. As a single person, the main advantage for me is access to products I can't get elsewhere and discounts on electronics. The main reason I joined is because I recently bought a dehydrator (but not from Costco) and I use it to make green bean chips. Costco is the only store that sells frozen organic green beans (frozen is much better for dehydrating into chips because they have already been blanched). Even my two local organi...Read more
c shops don't sell them. Also, I noticed their organic berries cost about half the prize of Coles and Safeway (about $10 a kilo instead of $20). An organic berry lover could easily get their money back this way. I don't know why this is, as other food items don't have this level of saving. Could it be that US standards for organic are lower? I don't know but they are definitely labelled as organic and the minimum purchase is about 2 kilos. They taste just as good as the organic berries at Coles and Woolies that cost double that. Before I joined I purchased a waterpik oral irrigator (like flossing with high pressure water) for the cheapest online price of $150 and discovered I could have got it there for $120. So it is important to check out Costco before buying anything electronic - they have a wide range. I also purchased a Nintendo Switch for $439, which is $30 cheaper than the cheapest price elsewhere. I saw a PS4 PSVR virtual reality kit including camera is $549 with game included and this is $629 at JB Hi Fi, who are renowned for low prices. Nintendo Switch games are about $10 cheaper than anywhere else but unfortunately their range is a little bit small - I wanted to get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and it wasn't there. A friend told me you can pump your car tyres with an alternative gas to air their and they will deflate more slowly. I was intrigued so I enquired, only to be told such deal is only available to buyers of Costco tyres. They said the main advantage with the alternative gas is less where and tear on the tyres when doing long trips on very hot days. I don't generally do this so it would be limited benefit any way. You can buy food at their store. The turkey and cheese sandwich features processed turkey, tasty melted cheese and tomato wedged between two very thick slices of warm bread. I thought it was pretty nice. Another convenience over Coles, Woolies and Aldi is the inclusion of toilet facilities - a nice touch. Be careful to have your receipt handy after making a purchase because it must be shown when exiting the store.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Some great products but not for everyday groceries
Great savings on branded clothing and shoes but don't expect there to be a big range.
Their homebrand Kirkland offers good value and quality across it's entire range which includes clothing, food and other items.
General groceries are definitely not cheaper than supermarkets when on special. If you are considering a membership for this reason it won't represent any value for you.
The deli and meat section offers quality, fresh and sometimes very reasonably priced products.
Everything is big and oversized in Costco including the trolleys, which no one seems to be able to control - watch out!

It's doesn't worth anything!!
I heard that Costco have wholesale with cheap price. So I went there a few days ago. First the guy at door was like you can't go in untill you register for membership which is $60/ year. Then I sneaked in to only see the prices. It was way expensive than other retaile shops. I prefer going to Coles/ wollworth/Aldi free entry and sometimes half price sale :) so I would never ever go there again

Warranty on vacuum cleaner
We bought I-robot vacuum cleaner 1,5 years ago. It was a fantastic product, but started malfunctioning .... prior to buying it we checked conditions of warranty and were told by the manager that if we remain Costco members we can bring faulty appliance for exchange.
We brought our vacuum cleaner back on Saturday 4/02/17 and were told to go home and ring the manufacturer. We asked for the manager and tried to explain the conditions we were advised prior to buying the product. The manager asked what was wrong with the cleaner and stated " this ...Read more

Change of policy without notifying customers
Very angry, manager of Ringwood Costco contradicted herself
We brought our faulty vacuum cleaner for exchange and we were told that policy has changed and now we had to contact manufacturers prior to bringing the product back. When we asked for a written change of guidelines she refused to produce it stating that they do not have it in writing. This never happens to us before. Customer services has changed, it was very unpleasant experience . We exchanged another item 2 years ago - and we're very happy. Now - will be ceasing membership,

Costco is in the business of selling memberships.
Costco has famously been quoted as saying they aren't in the business of groceries, they are in the business of selling memberships. I have gone there as a guest a few times and have left empty handed each and every time. It is not cheap. I just don't get it. Not to mention buying in bulk is an American concept that is vile. I will not be buying into this membership scheme.

Fresh produce and meats, no more
I don't like this chain for obvious reasons (search "Rudest and most patronising checkout" on this website) but my wife did. Did someone say: happy wife and happy life?
Recently we started discovering the vegetables being not refresh (i.e., we have to throw away) and I started complaining the wagyu steak tasting synthetic.
For vegetables, we had to throw out a few Capsicums, cucumbers, apples, spring onions, blackberries, cauliflowers and sweat corns. The celery are occasionally un-chewable. We now have to check each pack carefully.

I bought 2 Turkish roll 12 packs yesterday 5/1/2020, best before 09/01/20. Found they were mouldy only this evening when I was going to bring them overseas tonight. It was too late for me to get back to Costco to change as it was already after 7pm and heading to the airport. I will not be back until 14/1/20 and have thrown them into the compose bin but have kept the plastic bag as proof. I am also upset that I could not bring them overseas to my brother. I will bring in my complaint on 14/1/20 when I am back.
