Love it
Always deals to be had. Great for free range eggs, toilet paper, batteries and fresh baked breads, birthday cakes, muffins etc and crossiants from the bakery. Extra large roast chooks are very cheap too, great beef jerky, I have found their Kirkland range of products to be good value and quality - especially the dry dog food which has premium ingredients at bargain prices. Good prices in alcohol and also presents for kids for Christmas and birthdays.
They also have the best returns policies I have ever experienced - I had purchased an expe...Read more

Deceptive return policy
Please note that they tend to use "manager's discretion" when rejecting your returns, even though the return policy says "On Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell, and will refund your purchase price." Even though at the time of sale, everyone you ask around will tell you that "blah blah blah, it's our return policy, even if you return your old TV in 6 yrs, as long as you are a member we will refund you."
Not entirely true, I have experienced this "manager's discretion" and got my returns rejected, even though ...Read more
I have complied with their return policy to the letter. I have taken the matters to the credit card company, ACCC, and Consumer Affairs Victoria. One of my returns was an ex-demo laptop (with just the charger and laptop itself, nothing else) bought in Jan 2016 at the Ringwood store, at the time of purchase, I was promised "if you have any problem, just bring it back to do a refund." When I took it back in Mar 2016, I got this "manager's discretion" and my return was refused, because "otherwise the business would lose money". Please very careful with this seller, you may think your appliance/laptop/tv/sofa/etc. is covered but they are probably not when you actually need it. I can understand the business needs to make money, but what's wrong with advertising a return policy that is actually true, not misleading, and sustainable? What if they just say "Return Policy* subject to acceptable use and manager's discretion"? That'd clear things up and makes it sounds less than a too-good-to-be-true, unconditional guarantee! I'd safely say Costco's return policy is deceptive.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I like Costco in general, but the cashier stuff are always so rude
UPDATE:
I find at several occasions, the cashier @ costco ringwood are so rude, on the occasions I left some heavy items on the cart or I didn't put my grocery on the belt, the staff's attitude is rude, they didn't finish packing the grocery, and just go on with the next customer as they do in Aldi. In the beginning, Costco always have staff to do this, now looks like the staff are expecting the customers to do it. & that's okay too, just communicate and say this, or make your customers be aware in general, bagging own grocery is not a big de...Read more

Bagels have changed.
Have been buying 8 packets of bagels from Costco each month for years. Today when we tried them they were decidedly different, almost burnt and as fluffy as a normal roll. Rang and spoke to an assistant in the bakery and found out that they are letting the dough prove longer to be fluffy and larger. wont be buying them again. The whole point of a bagel is it has a very unique texture completely different from a roll. What a shame, loved the old recipe. :(

rude service
I faced an absolutely impolite behaviour on Aug 18,2015 at Costco store in Ringwood, Vic. the cashier name is SERGIO
The cashier was really rude. when I placed the trolley to the checkout counter, Sergio and his helper was
having their endless debate and totally ignore us. when I placed all the items by myself then they just started to
scan the items while they kept poker face all the way: no hello, no thanks, no help, no polite manner, even did
not tell me how much was the total!
they just talking themselves while working, they made me feel unwelcome because I interrupt their party. they just ruin my day.

Some prices are good but too troublesome
We understand the warehouse concept so only buy certain goods in bulk after doing our calculation. Some items cost the same or even more expensive compared to coles/Woolworth. The range of goods is very small so don't go to costco if u only want to do your weekly household grocery. Another thing is I thought the roasted chicken meat didn't taste like real chicken!!!!!!so told everyone not to buy this.
The most annoying experience was that we have to line up to have our shopping docket checked after checkout!!! That's a waste of time!!!!!!

Great Saving for the smart shopper
Love it! But you do need to know your prices on some things, but that is soo easy to check these days with just about everyone having internet on their phones just check out prices against other retailers while shopping.
Weatbix for example: in Woolworths a 1.2kg box is $4.15 at Costco a bigger 1.3kg box is $3.80. I also find all the alcohol is cheaper than dan murphy.
Just remember that most stuff is in bulk size so you'll need the space at home for things such as toilet paper always handy to go halves with family or friends.

Where is everyone?
I went into costco on the weekend and it was chaos. I looked around for at least one staff member to help me in buying a tv and couldn't find one anywhere. So i decided not to bother! When i went to pay for my groceries there were a total of 4 cash registers open and about 12 empty ones!!
I mean seriously??
I asked the cashier when i got to the front of the queue (after 30 minutes) i asked her what was going on and she told me that all the cashiers were on. Apparently they had laid off like a quarter or more of their staff to save money and t...Read more

Exchange Policy
Costco has a rubbish return / exchange policy. I will say that I am not a member, nor will I be because of this!
I was given a gift of beautiful children's clothing that was purchased by a member for my new born twins. The pants has a hole in them, so I brought them back to the store to exchange them. This is a big trip for me with 2 new babies!!!
I am not a member, so they refused. The goods were faulty, you are required to exchange them.
It is poor taste to ring a person who has given a gift and ask them to return it for me.
Poor exchange policy on faulty goods

Why feed the duopoly?
It's a welcome relief to see Costco in Australia. My wife and I have found a great variety of products that don't exist in the Colesworth stores and they are very price competitive with those that are sold by the duopoly. Their wines are good and at bargain prices and their meat is high quality. We like their extensive range of frozen products. I bought a years' worth of razors and shave cream at Costco at massive savings and the quality of their products is good. It wasn't what I thought it was when I first shopped there. We save heaps of money there.
Excellent quality, new products, great and friendly customer service
Some common items out of stock on the days I went there

No way to do a product search
Aisles have no clear signage. None of the staff could tell you if a particular item you are after is available in store.
All they tell you is go to that aisle and if it isn't on the shelf then the product is not available. Would I risk a futile trip if I live a 100 km away from the nearest outlet? Wish they could emulate Costco in the US.
Savings when items are on specials
No customer service. No product search instore or online.

I bought 2 Turkish roll 12 packs yesterday 5/1/2020, best before 09/01/20. Found they were mouldy only this evening when I was going to bring them overseas tonight. It was too late for me to get back to Costco to change as it was already after 7pm and heading to the airport. I will not be back until 14/1/20 and have thrown them into the compose bin but have kept the plastic bag as proof. I am also upset that I could not bring them overseas to my brother. I will bring in my complaint on 14/1/20 when I am back.
