My laptop Dell Inspirion 15 3000 is just 3 yrs old. Its been getting slower and slower ti fire up and now it won't start at all. According to my local IT person on testing suggests the motherboard is stuffed. Anyone else having the same trouble ??????. Brought from JB HI FI around $650. GORDON WA.

HI Gordon, did you create the Dell restore media? if not you could try booting from a bootable CD/USB and see if you can get it to work, the CD/USB media uses a minimal set of drivers to allow the laptop to operate... might give some clues as to what is going on, good luck....

Will running my InspironnR without the battery harm my laptop?

I mostly used my laptop with mains power - battery plugged in so the battery was always fully charged. Having said that, I was advised to occasionally disconnect the battery and run the computer on battery until the battery was empty then plug battery back in and charge it up again. Not sure what you are wanting to do - you will need the battery if you are using it without mains power. Perhaps contact the people from who you purchased your laptop.

Can anyone clearly tell me have to use the dvd drive to watch movies? I don't understand it comes up saying in the media player it doesn't support the file and codecs... and I don't know what to do.
