It is 34 degrees C outside. Inside, in a small bedroom with the windows closed and security shutters down, I have been running my DCEVP7 for an hour. It is on the cooling/humidifier setting, both ice packs are the water tray, louvres are open, and the fan is blowing at 4 (maximum). I have to sit almost on top of it to feel any air coming out and the temperature in the room is 30 degrees C. In a same size room on the same side of the house with no fan at all the temperature is 31 degrees C. It doesn't seem worth the electricity to run it.

Thanks. All the above is true. A small amount of cool air can be felt coming from the vents but only when close to the vents. I’ll try to arrange to return it. Not easy. I don’t have a car and it was ordered online and delivered.

I have had evaporative coolers before they definitely work best in dry areas but the pump on this is too small. Twice the flow would make this a good unit. As it is a wet tea towel on a pedestal fan is a vast improvement

Hi Zmaaren,
Thank you for taking the time to review the Dimplex 7L Evaporative Cooler DCEVP7.
Evaporative fans - in general - ARE NOT practical. You still need your aircon to run to cool the house. The function of this fan is just to circulate the air from the a/c faster, which can be done by an ordinary fan from Bunnings or the like. By itself, this product is not efficient. It does not cool the room at all, and the mist that comes from it will just make you feel sticky. Australian summer melts the ice fast which renders the product operating like an ordinary fan. It appears like efficient when you are in the store since the s...
Read moretore is air conditioned. Worse, the Dimplex evap fan i purchased was defective. The cooling button/ function turns off after 30 seconds. Virtually I bought a fan, which is decoratively better than the the standard fans but paying a hefty amount IS NOT worth it. Good thing the store refunded me in full, without too many questions. Good job, The Good Guys!- Date Purchased
Hi Justin
Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback in relation to our product and evaporative cooling overall.
...
The unit randomly stopped working shortly after we purchased it... no help from Dimplex or Kogan. We can't even use it as a fan now and have had to purchase another fan for the room. Build quality is really poor.
Do yourself a favour and buy a trusted brand, don't waste your money!

My missus and I bought this evaporative cooler from AppliancesOnline. Since the time we bought it, it didn't seem effective. We blamed that to the hot weather. What we did not realize was that the water pump had stopped working in just couple months. Calling Dimplex was as useful as fixing the thing on my own, both didn't work. Customer care told me that the pump did not have warranty. Now, evap coolers exist because they have a pump to push water on the walls. So no warranty on the main component was beyond my understanding.

Mine, and my neighbours DVEVP6, the cool function keeps turning off after 50 seconds and beeps 10 times. I've tried flushing and replacing with clean water several times, I've tried turning it off and on again, I've done the 'fast water level detection function' but nothing helps. I've been using the unit for a couple of weeks now, and this happened once before and eventually resolved itself, but now it seems whatever I do the cool function doesn't work.
Hi M lark, Thank you for your question and I'm sorry to hear of this. From what you have described it sound like it could be a blockage and the arm is what may be causing the beeping. Thanks
It's the floater stick that's located on top that doesn't pop up and causing it to beep and turn the cooler mode off . Must be some sort of algae or something that stuck to it to pump out the water.I ...
Read morefound the solutions thru Yotube. Just use a butter knife to pop it up manually and now the beeping is gone and it works perfectly.I just bought this a few days ago. Is it supposed to blow hard then stop then blow hard every few seconds?
Hi Theresa, Thank you for your question. I will reach out to you directly to get some additional information. Thanks
My DCEVP20 is turning the cool / humidify off all the time. The water tank is full. It turns off after 50 or so seconds and beeps. The manual says this happens if the water tank is not full enough. The tank is full. Please help.
