Great to start with, but...
I acquired one of these portable heaters a few years back, admittedly second hand and relatively unused, 1 year after it was manufactured. This is a good heater for the price. Looks nice, simple design and is very unobtrusive in the room when not running, and provides the required visual effect when it is. The flame effect is obviously fake on closer inspection but provides the desired ambiance for the room and feeling of an open fire after a while - it is very effective especially in a darkened room. The heating performance is excellent, I use...Read more
this to warm a 3.5 X 7.3 m bungalow and it is more than enough heating, even using only the 1 Kw setting. I was very pleased with the heater for the first year or so and I still have no issue with it's performance as a heater. After about 2 years, the mechanism for the flame effect started getting noisy. This progressively gets quieter as the heater warms up so I assume its some sort of wear with a bearing or thermal effect. Also I have found early on that it does go through light bulbs fairly rapidly - the unit requires 2 small edison E14 screw type globes and I was regularly running it with only 1. I have resolve the globe issue partially by using LED globes instead of incandescent - this of course prevents the dimming effect from working - but at least the globes are lasting! This would normally not be an issue as the job the unit does as a heater is great; unfortunately you cannot turn off the fire effect, only the heating, so I am stuck with a great, but noisy, heater. I suspect this may be an issue with my particular unit but I would expect a +$300 unit to not have these issues after only 2-3 years. Another criticism is the size. After having this for a while I realised it's fully twice as large as it really needs to be. All the heating and flame affects are located in the bottom half of the unit, the top half is simply wasted space and could be redesigned and provide the same visual effect and heating quality but with less material and cost.Purchased in January 2021.

Good heater but....
The heater was magnificent till it stopped generating heat.
There are NO spare parts available for this heater, nor for any small appliance from Dimplex!
Be aware of that when buying!
Surprised to find out that their products are not supported by some form of "Dimplex servicing".
Purchased in March 2021 at Harvey Norman for A$389.00.
