I am about to install a Guardian 2 in 1 front door and keen to remove the glass to make it lighter while installing. Is it merely a case of removing the Allan key bolts or and removing the glass or a more complicated process?

What does the customer care team do and what is the process when a customer has a complaint?

They ask that everything is paid upfront before any work is done. Once it’s done they don’t care that’s their customer care. We started our order in November last year and only yesterday was the last item installed. I don’t think there is a complaint department as I could not find one. The worse thing is the installer that put a hole in our freshly painted ceiling, I was home and he never said a word and even tried to patch it ? We had to get it repainted and I believe the painter still hasn’t received his money. They came and saw it and took responsibility but that was it.

Hello Gloria

Thanks for your question.
We have a wide range of weather seals we can install at the bottom of the door to help prevent water getting in underneath. We always recommend, if your door is fully exposed, to install some kind if awning or covering over the door to help protect the door from the weather.
Best to pop into your local branch and view the range and options we offer. Once you have chosen everything, one of our trained consultants can come out for a no obligation free measure and quote.

We were considering seeing if DP can do us a quote for new wooden door and screen doors and back door at our place but after reading some of these reviews I am considering our options. We don't have the average sized doors Looks like we will be thinking about this further and seeing what else is available to us? Thanks

Doors plus at Fyshwick installed 3 bespoke doors for me following an entire house renovation. All but one door were unusual sizes. I paid approx $3700 for all the doors( timber with frosted glass centres) which included the doors, hinges, locks, labour and disposal of an old door. The doors were perfectly installed to fit all the spaces and the job was done in one day. Given the numerous components required for bespoke doors, in the end it was more efficient and cost effective to get Doors plus to do the job. Hiring your own carpenter( who’s speciality may not necessarily be doors) tends not to be much cheaper as you will pay for the materials and labour per hour.

Helen
Helen

That's great to hear but I was hoping to read better reviews than I have I wouldn't hire a carpenter to do a specialist type of job we have three doors plus two screen doors and four glass sliding doors and four screen sliding doors to sort out. Thank you for your reply. I will be considering our options.

It seems the reviews vary depending on the branch. Do a filter of reviews with the branch name (I filtered on Brookvale) to get a better idea of the specific branch you would deal with.

Why do you use finger jointed frames & trim when the wood is to be stained?
Isn't finger jointed would classified as paint grade rather than stain grade?

1 answer
Doors Plus
doors p.Doors Plus

Hi Mike

Thanks for your question.
Finger joining timber is widely used not only in the door industry but also in the furniture industry.
Finger joining is more durable and more sustainable.
If you are using a light stain, this will highlight or expose the joinery along with the characteristic of the timber on both the door and frame. If however, you choose a darker stain this will hide or make the characteristic of the timber less visible. It really comes down to your preference Mike.

Hope this helps.

Why are there so many 5 star reviews from one review people. Seems Product Review isn't what it started out to be.

Doors Plus are really really bad and for every bad review they get they write 3-5 good ones. That is why they have so many reviews (>4500). Add up the 1-3 star reviews and it comes to 20% of their total count. When they first started doing this they were really bad at it and it was so obvious. They have improved but you can still tell they are submitting fake reviews to boost their rating. We used them and it was a total horror story! We tried to complain but they couldn’t care less. Once they get your deposit you are screwed.

Gail K

I've heard you can buy bulk 5 star reviews for your company on Amazon. Looks like Product Review has the same practice happening here now.

Doors Plus
doors p.Doors Plus

Hi Gail

Thanks for posting your question.

It is illegal for any company or website to submit fake reviews.

Rest assured, Doors Plus does not purchase reviews in bulk as this is illegal.

All reviews are posted by customers. In fact we have an internal tracking system to link reviews from genuine customers to a physical order number that was listed on that customers order, positive or negative reviews.

Doors Plus does not and cannot choose which review is posted. This is up to a customer. Doors Plus responds to all reviews. Positive and Negative.

We value the importance of our customers feedback hence we would not jeopardise the trust between us and our loyal customers.

Thank you for your enquiry and i apologise for the delayed response.
We can certainly assist you with removal of the window, supply of the French doors and installation.
In some cases some structural changes may need to be made in which you may need to hire a certified builder to inspect and make some structural changes however in most cases this is not needed.
I would suggest popping into your local showroom to view and choose the options we offer in person.

We've just purchased a Guardian two-in-one door in unsealed, solid timber. To best seal and protect the timber from the weather, how do we paint the internal timber face behind the security mesh? Is there way to remove the security mesh? thanks.

2 answers
Doors Plus
doors p.Doors Plus

Hi Donna

Thanks for sending through your feedback.

Donna – Please note, any “raw looking timber” behind the screen section is all sealed prior to installing the screen door section.
We use a clear varnish or sealant hence why it does look raw however I can assure you it Is sealed prior to constructing the door.

The reason we do not use a coloured sealant is because we cannot determine what colour each customer will paint the door and in order to prevent
colours clashing we use a clear varnish/sealant.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Regards,

Gus @ customer service

Donna

Thank you. I think the in-store staff could be advised of this as they told me it was unsealed. Very happy with the door quality.

Why is there no choice in colour for 2 in 1 Doors
Glass Hinges Bright Chrome
Glass handle brushed Chrome
Minimum to at least match door hardware

4 answers
Doors Plus
doors p.Doors Plus

Hi

The door has been designed and manufactured based on customer and market demand.
All the components on the Guardian 2 in 1 are designed specifically to ensure the doors colour scheme match.
Our goal is to ensure manufacturing standards are met which in turn allows our quality assurance team a easy flowing production line.
Our customer so far are happy with the door and colour scheme however I will pass your feedback onto the manufacturing team for consideration.

Gus

QOO7
QOO7

The colours do not match, bright chrome and brushed chrome, are different, and that's on the glass door.
Then when you want to add a lock and handle to the wooden door you are restricted to chrome or brushed chrome. If you wanted to have black to match the door mesh, that's ok externally but it would give you 3 variations on the internal side of the door (Black, bright chrome and brushed chrome).
As a customer not happy, and while in your show room other customer made similar comments.
Please pass on to Marketing and design teams, also ask sales why they do not sell more of this product, I think you will find the above is a major reason, its not cost, we like the product but it will not blend in currently.

Hi,

Doors Plus
doors p.Doors Plus

Hi Lydia

Thanks for your enquiry
We can certainly help with that.

We do not come out for free measure and quotes on screen solutions as the price is mainly dependant on the style and options you choose in the showroom.
Once you pop into the showroom and choose from the options in person we can then provide you with a formalised quote based on what you choose.

If you are then happy with the quote, a 10% deposit is required and we then send a fitter out to measure the opening for you.

We currently have the OUT THE DOOR SALE on where you can save up to 30% off RRP, see in store for details.

We also have our recent issue of the catalogue which will help you with some rough pricing in the meantime:
https://www.doorsplus.com.au/monthly-specials/

I would strongly recommend popping into your nearest showroom for a quote ASAP.

Your nearest showroom is:
Granville
2 Parramatta Rd
Granville, NSW 2142

Our opening hours are Monday - Friday 9-5.30pm Saturday 9-4pm Sunday 10-4pm.

Hi

Hi Gus,what is the thickness of the safety glass? And what size are the apertures in the mesh? What is the frame that holds the mesh made from? What timber is the door and door frame made from? I have found out that applying a fire resistant paint to timber could mean it can meet the BAL requirements, so if the glass and mesh meet the specifications it's possible this door would meet by BAL requirements needs. Thanks. Caroline

Doors Plus
doors p.Doors Plus

Hello Caroline,
The glass is two pieces of 3mm toughened glass with a film between the two sheets to make the glass laminated and safe. Finishes at 6.3mm. The mesh is 316 Marine Grade Stainless steel mesh, the same mesh you find in a certified security screen door. The frame is Solid Timber Sourced from Canada. tsuga heterophylla Is the scientific name. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your question.
Our internal hollow core doors don't come with pet solutions however customers have developed a trend of purchasing a solid core door and having a handy man install a pet door in once we have installed the new door.
Best to speak to your local Doors Plus showroom and see what options they have for you.
