Very easy to use and great coverage.
I’ve just painted the exterior of my house using a combo of low sheen Weathershield and semi gloss Weathershield. I’ve used 30 litres of low sheen and 4 litres of semi gloss. One colour is white and the other is a mid grey. The surfaces were a mix of pre painted and some new weatherboards.
I’m thinking that it’s true that painting is all about preparation. We went to a lot of trouble to clean, fill and sand then fill again so the surfaces were in as good a condition as they were going to be.
The semi gloss went onto the trim and around the wi...Read more
ndow frames. I undercoated the new timber with an oil undercoat and finished with two coats of Weathershield. I found that coverage was pretty good but definitely needed the two coats. After the second coat the timber looked fantastic and I’m very happy with the results. Application was with a brush. The paint itself performed really well and went on smoothly. It can dry quite quickly but was no big deal provided I kept a good wet edge. The main job was the weatherboards and the low sheen Weathershield. Apart from the cutting in, application was with a roller. Again, the paint went on smoothly and colour cover was excellent. It also really needed the two coats but the end result was very pleasing. The self priming paint went perfectly over the new weatherboards and after the second coat, you couldn’t tell what was new and what was pre painted wall. I painted in cool weather (15 - 20 degrees Celsius) and in full sun. I had no issues with the paint whatsoever and wouldn’t hesitate to use it again. I note the number of negative reviews about the product and don’t really understand them given my experience with this product. I could speculate why people would have trouble but if best keep that to myself. All I can say for sure is that my experience this time around was totally positive and provided prep is done correctly, I reckon that Dulux Weathershield is an excellent product that is well up to the task of protecting my house in the Aussie extreme conditions.
Purchased in September 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$450.00.

I Am painting our hardiplank house. I’ve used Dulux Weathershield semi-gloss all round for the first coat. For the second coat can I use the same but in full-gloss straight over the top? Our climate here is very windy, and it blows red dirt all over everything, so I’m thinking full gloss be better for ease of cleaning?

I’ve painted in the cooler months with Weathershield. No issues at all except that of took a little longer to dry.
Thanks Guys. I hope we get a few more warmer days, otherwise it will have to be Spring. Would it have been 10 degrees kind of cold Phil? I don’t want to take the risk of the colour being patchy, or paint not drying.
I might do a patch test and see how it goes.
