The biggest waste of money i have spent. Bought a Dux Prodigy 5 from Bunnings in April 2017 and regret that decision, we had the usual problem of the burner going out constantly and then the unit would sound like it exploded every time the burners ignited. I contacted Dux who sent a rep out who offered to replace the unit but would charge $650 to install, how generous. I had always had a Rheem gas h/w system before and only bought the Dux froms Bunnings in desperation as after 15 years the original system decided to retire itself on a Saturday ...
Read moreafternoon and we needed hotwater urgently. The 3-month-old Dux now sits on my trailer ready for a oneway trip to the tip having been replaced by a Rheem. Admittedly I might have bought a lemon but after reading many many negative reviews I feel it must have been a BIG lemon tree.- Date Purchased

Why dux continues to sell this product when it is obviously a customers nightmare, is beyond me! Bad
Never purchase this product at all! dux is a name that I cannot put any trust in! Replaced previous gas hot water service with a dux firstly in 2013. Constant problems with pilot going out daily, then the tank rusted out! Was replaced under warranty, 26/10/2016 by dux after great negotiations, and having to pay $385 installation costs as of course this company "dux" doesn't include that under their warranty?. Now this prodigy 5 gas hot water service has started playing up, pilot light going out constantly again! How can this company get...
Read more away with such dodgy products in this country and still be getting away with this blatant conduct of such very bad business practices still today? I'm very dissatisfied with this company to say the least! Do yourself a favour and avoid dux at all costs! Terrible customer service as well!- Date Purchased
We bought Prodigy 5 135D5N in September 2016 and the pilot light just won't stay on. It goes out every 2-3 days and I have to restart it manually. After spending almost $2000 and being charged for the installation twice I'm so angry. Called service people they promised to call me back but never did .. I mean its still under warranty I don't understand why they won't help me

I had a Dux HWS installed in 2012 which has recently stopped heating the water on a number of occasions. After paying over $100 for if to be fixed three times and the plumber not being able to pinpoint the fault, I think it's time to cut my losses and invest in a new HWS, I will not be choosing a Dux this time. The service department were of no help, pointing out that the warranty only lasts for 1 year.

After only two years we started having issues with the pilot light going out. In its third year the pilot light was refusing to stay on and we spent over $300 on a weekend call out. The plumber replaces the pilot thermostat but told me if it keeps happening it may be the flu damper at the top of the unit. He said they are too expensive to bother with so just jam it open. a month later and another cold shower. So now I've jammed open the patented energy saving flu damper. Just hoping that fixes it.

Dux Prodigy 135D5N - Pilot Light Dead after 14 months - Poor product!!!!
I replaced my natural gas last year with a Dux Prodigy 135D5N. Recently the pilot light keeps going off. I followed the instructions to re-light it but it will go off again after 1 or 2 days. Called Dux for warranty was told it is out of warranty since the tank is 14 months old. My last tank (Rheem) worked flawlessly for 13 years before the tank leaked. Pilot light going out seems to be a common problem after reading other product reviews.
I was convinced by a guy in Bunnings, Dux was a better brand since it is made locally. I always tried support local businesses, after this experience. I'll never buy DUX again. Rubbish product!
Partial warranty offerred by DUX.

Had to pay upfront. The values have to be replaced and new copper piper by Law. On the day it was unpacked to be installed it was DAMAGED. DUX then had to have the DAMAGED Gas Hot Water System installed because the other old system was leaking. Now we have to wait for another Gas Hot Water System to be delivered and tgen be totally inconvenienced once again having to get the DAMAGED Unit taken out and the new one installed again. They were of no assistance whatsoever and didn't care. Suggest taking complaints to the Office Of Fair Trading. Contact them first and explain your situation.

If the Prodigy 5 is as good as our old dux heater I will be more than happy.
When we had our house built 21years ago we had a hardydux 135 litre tank installed, it has just died on us which I think is pretty good. So on that recommendation I have had a Prodigy 5 installed, If it lasts as long I will be more than happy.

If you're after a quality product and great customer service look elsewhere. My unit was less than two years old and kept cutting out and wouldn't stay on long enough to heat water. After a bit of research I discovered this is a common fault with these units and the company is aware of this. It is caused by condensation dripping on the flame causing it to cut out. I called Dux and their response was pretty much " It's out of warranty we can't help". I then decided to email Dux and didn't receive a response. I eventually paid for a drip guard to be fitted above the flame to rectify the problem at a cost of $172.00. Needless to say I'm not happy and won't be be spending any money on a Dux product in the future.

Seriously don't waste your time taking part in their "investigation". It's pretty much involves asking for more details and then confirming they won't help. I hate being ripped off but telling anyone...
Read more who will listen not to buy this junk will make me feel a little better.I recently called my gas company complaining of a gas leak, the company came to my premises and turned off the service to our gas at the mains. The gas was turned on approximately 4 hours later. When we tried to turn on the hot water service the next day we found we could not get the pilot light to stay on.
We had a plumber come and assess the unit only to be advised the regulator or something has broken and it is going to cost me $200+ to fix plus an additional $200 labour. I am not happy that a unit can break by a simply disruption in the g...
