Sellers are not based in Australia & ITEM to be sold NOT in Australia & seller can't speak English properly
Bought an item which was supposed to be in SYDNEY received tracking number but wasn't recognized on Courier website for 5 days. I contacted seller & asked why it wasn't on Courier website but they had no idea what I was asking. Today, I received an email from eBay & when I went online to eBay it stated "item located in NSW Australia" but when I went to seller's name it said 'based in China'. There is no where on eBay to sent a complaint possibly because they are only interested in getting their cut of sale. Tried to contact eBay 'on chat' got t...Read more
o "someone will be with you in less than a minute", 10 minutes later I was still waiting so I gave up. If eBay not willing to allow written complaints & certainly not willing to talk online, then they will lose customers & deserve it. I have always had issue with FEEDBACK basically eBay don't allow NEGATIVE feedback about sellers & experiences one may have not very Democratic of themSimilar opinion? Would not refund on item i did not receive
I had an account with EBay and purchased a remote for Apple box. I did not receive this item and did a complaint to EBay. What a waste of time that was. They would not over turn their findings because the seller said he sent it. I read reviews after this about the same seller and these people had not received their goods.
WoW EBay we must be all liars then. The seller must be the innocent one in all these cases NOT.

E BAY TRICKSTER'S TRICKS
BEWARE THE E BAY TRICKSTERS! Those who use the Australian flag in their adverts on Ebay are often foreign crooks selling their rubbish which often is on the high seas, weeks away from the buyer. Rarely do Australian sellers use the flag. Another trick is with free post though it's not posted though couriered by the infamous Slow Way Couriers. The 80 character limit on feedback is to help the scammers, not the buyers. When the scammers get to a low review score total they change their E bay name & start all over again with 100%.Obviously Ebay is well aware of these scams but aid & abet them to ensure their commission.

Promotion codes
A reduction of $200 was displayed under the bid now button. Press and get a code.
I pressed and god the code then I placed my bid to make sure I got the code. This was a 9 day auction, I won the auction and cake to enter the code and it did not work.
Contacted eBay and was told that it code of been a glitch lol, then I asked for manager and then got told that code had expired.
eBay know that the auction will end in 9 days so why put a code that will expire before then. They did not honour the code and now I am paying $200 more for an item.
Do not trust them. Code: PICK100

Buyer Beware
I purchased a satellite receiver box for an elderly parent from a seller who had 100% positive feedback. Unit failed after a less than 4 months and after repeated communication with seller they advised they would replace unit and that a new one had been sent. After several weeks with no unit in sight I contacted the seller several times, they confirmed it had been sent and then I queried if they could confirm when it had been sent the seller sent a further message advising unit had not been sent at all and they had no plans to send. The sell...Read more
er advised they would not send a new unit unless I sent old one from WA to Victoria at my expense. I felt that seller should incur cost (in line with eBay policy) and had no faith that seller would ever replace given recent scenario of promised replacement that was never sent, leaving me with an additional cost for postage, seemed prudent to cut my losses. Contacted eBay multiple times with no useful assistance at all, they advised that seller had multiple investigations listed against them and they were investigating issue. I have used phone contact, online chat and email with eBay all with differing advice (still no response to email after almost 3 weeks, although they promise response with 24-72 hours maximum). When I initially contacted eBay by phone they reviewed my case and advised seller would be prohibited from selling that product within 24-48 hours, although every subsequent communication has given different advice. As seller has protracted this issue I have now passed the 180 days where I could obtain a refund so I have no ability to seek a refund and seller is not providing a replacement. Seller ignored eBay request to replace item yet eBay permit seller to continue to sell. It appears obvious that eBay is only interested in making money and not listening to the concerns of buyers. Ebay would not consider a refund given the 180 day period had elapsed, even though I had in good faith assumed that buyer was in fact sending me a replacement as advised during this period. In this scenario the seller made money, eBay made money and Paypal made money and I as a buyer am the only party out of pocket. eBay confirmed I cannot leave feedback on seller after 60 days and so unable to warn any other potential buyers to seek a refund at the first sign of any problem. This experience has clearly identified for me that eBay customer service is of no value at all. It appeared that the agents were simply reading from a script every time I contacted them with a query/complaint and I will certainly be avoiding eBay from now on. I am also informing all relatives, friends, colleagues and any other contacts to beware!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

eBay provides little support for sellers by overcompensating buyers freedoms - Look elswhere
Terrible service to sellers and buyers have been provided with the power to work the system. Highly recommend going to Amazon which is what we decided to do for the following reasons:
A seller can return items even when a listing clearly states "no returns". All a Seller needs to do is claim the item is "fake" or "not authentic", or "not as described" and eBay will hold the funds until it is sorted out. If the Seller does not sort it to the satisfaction of the Buyer, and in most cases to the benefit of the Buyer, then the transaction will be f...Read more
ully refunded and the Buyer is then made to also pay for the return of the item. The other way Buyers scam the system is by damaging the item received in order to get a refund by claiming the seller sent the item already damaged (typically seen with buyers remorse). Sellers are unable to leave negative feedback on a Buyer: Because of this, bad buyers have been able to bid, win, and NOT PAY for items they bid on. In one instance, one Buyer had 60% bad "written" feedback, however, it was shown as positive because the only way a Seller can provide feedback on a buyer is by selecting "Positive Experience" when providing ALL feedback to a Buyer, even if the experience was bad. For more reasons on why you should sell your items on Amanzon, Quicksales, TradeMe or any other reputable online auction site, check out the many complaints and law suits filed against eBay by searching "Criticism_of_eBay" on WikiPedia. FYI: Don't even think about selling on Gumtree either, aside from the small amount of visitors they get each month, Gumtree is also owned by eBay. Happy selling everyone!Similar opinion? I got fleeced
I got fleeced by a doctor (eBay username thing02),
Sold him a Dehumidifier with a Daily Moisture Removal Capacity of 600mL/24Hours 20% (at 30C, 80%RH) he opened a return request and said it was defective because it didn't remove 1100mL while he was having a shower with it I tried to explain to him that, that is well beyond It's capabilities but he didn't care so I ask eBay to step in (Big mistake) and they gave him a full refund without even talking to me and let him keep the item so I tried to appeal it and all I got was-
"After reviewing this case, we decided to keep the original outcome. We weren't able to grant your appeal because we determined the original decision was correct."

Customer support failure
I ordered a set of laser printer toners which I never received. The delivery address was my PO Box. Sender claims goods were sent, claims a card was left & has refused to refund my purchase price. Ebay was totally useless in either getting the item resent or getting me a refund. They say how you are protected but when it comes to the crunch ebay just fobs you off & leaves you to hang out to dry! Very disappointed.........

Found it almost impossible to change credit card details. So I quit.
What a god-awful website ebay is, when it comes time to updating new credit card details! I spent more than half an hour, trying to do it on my phone. In the end, I was unable to do it, gave up in total frustration, & deleted my account. If online businesses can't provide someone like me (who is tech challenged), with an easy, simple, menu to navigate my way around, then I don't bother with them anymore. Simple as that. I had great delight in deleting my account. I did this with Netflix, too. And I'll do it with others. In this day & age, how hard is it to provide customers with easy, user friendly, interfaces? I'm going back to bricks & mortar shopping. And if I can't find what I want that way, I'll go without.

eBay are incredibly difficult to deal with and don't honour their promotions
I have been using eBay as a buyer and seller for many years now and they have now got to the point where eBay is literally my last resort for anything.
If they send you an offer for no final value fee's or anything else, make sure you keep a copy as they never honour these and you need to fight to get the credit. And if they don't have an offer, the fee's are so high it's not worth using eBay to sell.
I recently joined eBay plus ($49 - I can't see the value) but they had an offer where if you sign up, they will send you a $50 voucher, and at ...Read more
the time had 10% off for + members - and as I was looking to purchase an item for $149 (as I mentioned, eBay was my last resort and the only place I could find this item) I thought it would work out better for me. Boy was I wrong. When I joined, I checked the T&C's for how long the voucher would take and it mentioned it would come through once they payment was processed, which happened the same day. Because I don't trust eBay one little bit, I called them after 3 days to ask when it would come through, and was told 5 days - ok, that's a little annoying, and I've missed the 10% offer, but I can wait a couple more days.Similar opinion? eBay removes negative feedback left by buyers
I have left greengadgets negative feedback for 2 items and eBay has removed my feedback. I also noticed that other negative feedback gets removed. Green gadgets are dishonest they sell faulty products. eBay is supporting dishonest sellers. I left negative feedback instead of getting a refund because I was not at all happy with the sellers lies. They state that every device is rigorously tested before selling if that was true I would not have received a faulty device. Another device was sold with a battery that did not perform well and did not hold charge for a full day with minimal use iPhone 6. Avoid eBay as the whole feedback system is corrupt as eBay removes most negative feedback.

Seller account suspended because scamming buyers claim short.
Ebay is the most disgusting and unlawful online marketplace together with Amazon. They steal your money and give it away to fraudulent buyers. If you refuse to go along with making scammers happy, they silently shut you down. This is similar to mafia operated enterprise. My account was shut down because few scammers reported me falsely to Ebay about not refunding them but they received the goods. Don't use Ebay whatsover.

Scammers supporting scammers
Was offerred a refund by a seller on the 14th a week after the item didnt turn up. I accepted and asked for the refund earlier anyway and then the seller sent the item on the 17th without giving a refund and Ebay staff will not give the refund and say I have to accept it.. Ebay staff are just as illogical and will lie and scam you just like the chinese sellers on here that pretend to live in Australia. I will never use Ebay again because they support lying and scamming people.

Poor Quality Item.
I have bought several things from ebay over the years. Some items have been ordinary but they still did the job, so I never considered myself a 'sucker' until recently. I purchased an ebike conversion kit for my pushbike though an ebay seller and, well, to use the Australian vernacular, "I got done." The item looked ok and worked at first. However, after one month of use the electrics began to fail, the kit would switch off when you were riding, sporadically at first, then constantly, to the point where it became unusable. The battery th...Read more
at came with the kit only last 3 days from full charge whether you used it or not. Lithium-ion batteries are supposed to hold charge for weeks. To back up that claim, I bought a Dillinger ebike kit that came with a Samsung li-ion battery that does just that. I know it's a cliche but you really do get what you pay for. Trying to save a dollar on ebay came back and bit me on the back for the first time. It just makes you more aware and dilligent when online shopping I guess. I know buying cheap crap comes with a risk, I'd gotten away with it for a while, but eventually the huge dragnet that ebay is swept me up and landed me on a desert island in 40 degree heat with no water. Live and learn hey.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Site full of scammers.
Where to start, I've been burnt many times as a buyer on ebay. Seems the site has become the two dollar shop of the internet. My experiences over the last 12 months include counterfeit items, sellers claiming to be located in Australia but its clearly obvious the item has come from China/HK and arrives way past the estimated due date (this is almost everytime), item descriptions stating features that don't exist, item not turning up with a tracking number that is not recognised by the shipping provider then when I open a dispute seller claims ...Read more
item has arrived which means no refund and no item (this was 6 months ago and I'm still waiting), then the latest one, seller underpays postage so instead of it arriving it gets help up at the post office awaiting payment of outstanding postage which means I have to take time out of my day to go wait in line at the post office. Each time I have opened a dispute and have yet to receive a refund, and ebay are unhelpful. So now if I get scammed/mislead I don't bother with a dispute, I just leave negative feedback which prompts the seller into action where I can bully a full refund in exchange for removing the feedback. My advice is only to use eBay for cheap throw-away items, and/or as a catalogue of sorts where you can find brand names/model numbers/sku's which you can use to search for the same item (usually cheaper) outside of evilbay.Similar opinion? Seller scammed me and ebay won't do anything
eBay won't do anything because it's past 30 days. I have contacted Google regarding my Google Pixel I purchased from Ebay seller big_yard who stated it was "New and sealed". It was sealed, however, I found through Google customer support that the device was in fact out of warranty before I purchased it, so clearly it had been used. The seller won't respond.
eBay previously said they would contact the seller and urge them to respond (this was about a year after I purchased the product) and when I contacted eBay again to tell them I haven't received a response, they told me they won't do anything.

Why does E-bay mark items as being delivered when tracking clearly shows the items being in another town?
3 answers
Why does E-Bay show items as being AUSTRALIAN STOCK when they come from China.
It's not eBay that marks it Delivered, it's the courier. eBay just shows you what online tracking says.
@ Len1010,
Tax avoidance scam to save the 10% GST which applies to products sent from overseas, eg. from China as well as taking advantage of low postage charges. If you take a look at Aus Post domestic charges you quickly realize that expecting to buy an item for under 10 bucks locally with free delivery include is not realistic.
With most Chinese made products Aust based sellers either buy in bulk from Alibaba and try to compete with Chinese based sellers or for low volume items they order from AliExpress and item is shipped directly to you.
May as well cut out the middleman and order directly from China. ;-)
