Drop once and it not longer turns on.

published

Terrible experience! This week I purchased my 4th and final one of these torches from my local Woolies. I have only kept 'giving them another go' over the last 6 months as it is the only torch my Woolies stocks. At $25 a pop this torch it's on the expensive side but works great, until you drop it ONE time, and not a great height, approx. 1m off my work bench, it then does not turn on again, even with new batteries. Just terrible, at first I thought it must be me - now 4 times in a row the exact same issue - Definetly a fault with the torch, very disappointed $100 down the loo.

Purchased in April 2021 at Woolworths for A$25.00.

One drop and it stops

This review is for the Vision HD Metal 2AA. When it worked the torch was OK but seemed to chew through batteries despite infrequent (once a week) use for short periods (a minute or two). Then one day it rolled (a design flaw allows this despite it being beveled) onto the floor from a height of exactly 55cm and will no longer turn on.

Overpriced Garbage

published

Very good torch when working however there appears to be inconsistent battery contact causing the beam to continually flicker or turn off.
Returned to Bunnings for replacement and believing this to be an isolated instance I also
purchased a second torch for my wife.
Yep! Wound up with two crappy torches which faded or cut off at will.
Enough is enough returned both to Bunnings for full refund, exchanged them for two similar cheapies and received $18.00 refund. The chinese cheapies are so far ahead of the Eveready/Energisers it's like chalk and cheese.
Eveready are winning the race to the bottom in the product quality stakes.
Eveready is no longer a quality product. Check out the Dolphin Lantern reviews.

Purchased in June 2021.

absolutely useless

published

Bought it for $28 from Bunnings and after a few days had to put it in the rubbish bin because it was driving me crazy with it flickering and tuning it self off all the time. My workmate had two of these lights with exactly the same problems, he smashed them in the bin too. $2.50 would be to much for this very poor quality item. Will avoid purchasing Energizer products in the future.

Purchased in June 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$28.00.

Not a great torch

published

I have the AA version, after 2 months it has started to fail and you have to give it a good whack to get it going again. Whilst it is bright the beam needs to be more focused for outdoor use, it also seems to chew through the batteries when comapred to my maglight. A bit of a bummer, will not purchase this brand again.

Purchased in April 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse.

Not Durable

published

I got the larger 2D size. I accidentally dropped it and it no longer works. The company said they don't warranty miss-handled products. Really? Many flashlights have been dropped but they still work!

Purchased in January 2021 for A$12.50.

quick breakdown

Bought this torch from Coles, and after 6 months, the plastic setting inside the torch that separate the LED and the positive (+) pf the batteries, started to disintegrate rendering the torch useless.
not happy after 6 months and paying close to 20 bucks, now need to buy another one.

Purchased in November 2021 at Coles Supermarkets for A$17.00.

AAA-version Bright for the price

published

I bought the unit taking 3xAAA batteries. Compact and solidly built. Non-adjustable beam but a hi/lo function. Good level of brightness - used as a room light (pointed up at ceiling) during extended blackout recently.

One minor design flaw

published

The battery compartment does not hold the batteries firm (i.e. there is some movement) allowing a loss of contact between the batteries and the positive/negative terminal which results in micro-flickering / micro-dimming of the light to frequently occur.

I have three of these torches and this is common across them all.

Otherwise would be a fantastic little product.

Pretty good

I bought energizer torches from Coles corrimal and kept using them with little difficulty.as they are easy to turn on and they provide plenty of light and putting them in my unfortunately they kept dropping out of my pocket and I kept losing them / I totally recommend the energizer led torch as cheap and affective flashlight

Excellent

for around $25 this torch is reliable and portable. The japanese LED is durable and punches a bright white light that will light up any area with ease. The fact that it is a LED means you get excellent battery time and makes it effecient. The quality of the LED and body are very high and the torch feels expensive and grippy. This range of torches comes in different sizes and they are all bright and high quality.
The bright white light is an excellent feature. The body construction and colour is also very tough looking and durable.
It might be a bit on the heavy and big side. There are torches that are smaller that give more light and use smaller batteries.

this torch definitely isn't available in Aus. for $25 as stated above.

its actually available cheaper than $25 - you just have to find it at Bunnings or other retailers.

may i ask how do you measure the beam distance of the light? as indicated to the packaging, the beam distance is 35m. it means 35 meters, right? but i observed that it is inefficient in that distance or maybe in at least 20 meters distance.

Your problem was buying the torch to begin with.

Lux vs lumens etc. Whats perceived at such distance they may have been measuring with tools more sensitive than a humans eye. Also its in a lab with no background light so will be brighter than in the "real world".
