Great back carrier, not so much the front
I bought this for my 2nd child when he was 4 months old. Until that point I had used a Baby Bjorn.
Initially I had some trouble getting my 4 month old to be happy in the Ergo, as he had been facing outwards in the BB and seemed uncomfortable in the Ergo. Not sure if he was in it correctly, as his face was half covered up by the sides of the carrier.
After we reached the point where he went on my back it was great to use. We loved it for bushwalking, and for the beach.
Our son is now 2 years old and still happy to sit on my back when he is tired when we are out and about.
Comfy for adult, can use it for a long time.
Uncomfortable for my son when he carried on the front.

I braught this carrier when bub was 17mths and its so comfy especially when he's a budda. It supports him so well and it keeps his weight off my shoulders. I definitely love this carrier. Wish I had heard about it when my elderst was born as its a life saver

excellent product
Love this carrier, its simple and easy to use. My baby usually always sleeps in it very easily. I used to joke that there was some kind of special sedative in the stitching somewhere, as he just fell straight to sleep in it a lot! I brought the newborn insert but found it cumbersome and didn't use it. Wish I hadn't have bothered with it now
sturdy, easy, comfy, great reputation
expensive, instruction book could be a little clearer

Could not live without it!
I did not not buy this carrier till bub was six months old and I really don't know how I survived without it. It's lightweight, comfortable and easy to wash and i use it for everything from the housework, shopping and exercising with Kanga training. Bub loves it and falls asleep easily in it.
Moulded comfortable straps, the pocket for keys/mobile etc
Was a little expensive but I shopped around and found a sale.

Perfect carrier
We bought this carrier when my baby was 14 months old. We should have bought it earlier. It's great for carrying her when we go to busy places (market etc) or when she gets tired after a long walk. We will be travelling overseas soon and it will be perfect at the airports. She goes easily to sleep in it which is a real plus too. Easy to adjust so my husband who is much taller than me can carry her too.
Lightweight, baby feels weightless in it
A bit expensive

Krisszel, I have to agree that the Ergobaby is perfect for travel. I did a solo trip with a toddler to Asia in my Performance carrier and it made life a whole lot easier. Hope your trip went well and you both continue to love your Performance.
Yepp, it worked well, wouldn't be as easy to travel without it. I had the little one comfy and as a bonus: two free hands :)

Best baby purchase
Im writing this review carrying my sick 15 months old in it. Definitely it's one of the best baby product I hv bought. Got it when my first was around 18 months for travelling overseas- A bit too late, had bjorn but didnt really get much use out if it. It's great at the airport if you are travelling alone and wants yr hand free for all the carry-ons you need to bring on board. Love that's it's lightweight and thinner than other ergos as I need to travel to countries where the weather are hot and humid.

good use out of it. He will always sleep in it when we are out and about and seems to love being in it. With 2.5 years gap between the 2 kids, i generally take out a pram and ergo, my big one can sleep inside the pram when she's tired and baby in ergo or if she prefers to walk then I can put the baby in the pram. So it's really working well for us. My only gripe is about the baby insert, it's a bit fiddly for me to put baby in having to lie baby down so it's not so convenient to do that just anywhere. Also it's too thick for my liking as bub was born in summer so i find that it's too hot. So for newborn to 3-4 months i prefer babybjorn in term of ease. But beyond 4 months ergo is a lot more comfy on my back and I will have no back pain carrying him for hour or two. Other than that ergos rock. And now my sick baby is asleep in it. Lightweight, breathable, comfy than other brands Fiddly baby insert1 comment

Then I could do a swap between them. It really was a practical arrangement. If you only buy one baby product!
I have purchased many, many baby/children items in the 5 years since becoming a mother. Most have not lived up to expectations or were items I thought I 'needed'.
The Ergobaby Performance Soft Structured Carrier is the perfect baby item. I have used mine far more than the seven prams I have purchased and discarded.
The Ergo allows me to have a contented baby or child, negotiate busy crowds, have my hands free to tend to my other child. It has even come in handy as a makeshift highchair! (but of course this is not it's intended purpose). It pr...Read more

My must have baby item!
Bought the ergo performance when the baby bjorn carrier was causing me back and shoulder pain and haven't looked back. Fantastic for my first big chubba bubba and totally invaluable running after my now very active toddler with number 2 bub on board. So glad I had it from earlier this time and used it with the infant insert. My second baby had major health problems and this carrier has been the only way to settle him and save our backs at times! The pouch attachment is fantastic too, holds a change of nappy, wallet, phone... essentials are then carried hands free.
Everything! Durable, quick drying, sensible design loads through your hips rather than shoulders
Designs and colours aren't as funky as some of the original and organic

Fantastic, comfy carrier for heavier tots
I am very happy with my recent purchase of the ergo baby performance carrier for my 1 year old. I held off purchasing one as they are expensive. But if you and bub will use it, it is well worth the investment.
I started off with the Goldbug sling when my littlie was a newborn - loved it, even though I only used it for a few short months. We then went on to the baby bjorn style carriers. These were also great but once bub got closer to the 10kg weight, the carriers were uncomfy on my back. Looking back now I would just get the ergo baby which...Read more
seems to accommodate for older kids! The ergo baby is great for heavier kids and my 1 year old loves being carted about in it. If you cart them around for hours unfortunately it does get uncomfy on the back but this is by far the best carrier for heavier kids that I've owned. I was hesitant at first spending $160 on a carrier but don't regret it for a second. I only wish I had of gotten one sooner and tried out the newborn insert! It's not always possible to take the pram and this is a great alternative for those situations like large crowds or even to use around the house when bub won't settle. I use mine to get the housework done when bub protests about not being carried! If possible I would recommend borrowing one off a friend first to see if your bub (& you) enjoy the carriers! I tried on all the different types at the shop and liked the performance the best! Would recommend to all the mums out there. comfy, bub loves it, pretty easy to use! Is expensive but worth it if used a lotSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Such a fantastic accessory
After loving the Baby Bjorn carrier, I was so disappointed when my little one grew out of it. I was dubious about paying $200 for another baby carrier but have never regretted my decision. Have recommended to loads of my friends when they were jealous of the ease in which I was carrying my little one around while they were struggling with bags and strollers and babies etc.
Baby loves the security of snuggling up to parent, sturdy design and fabric, washable, easy to apply, have not used with newborn but means you dont have to purchase two carriers for when baby outgrows the other, many different carrying positions (front, hip, back)
Expensive

Love this carrier! Used daily!!
I purchased this carrier with baby No. 2. Bub is now 12 months old and I use the back carry position all the time. It is super easy to get her on my back even when she's grumpy and squirmy. Without it, dinner preparation would include lots of whinging and fingers jammed in draws/doors (she plays with the cupboards). Bub falls asleep quite easily when she's in it. Even in the back carry position, bub and I just chat away to each other which makes using the carrier far more sociable then our stroller. I have not purchased the teething covers... b...Read more

worth every cent
I bought my Ergo performance when my son was about 6 months old and used it tonnes up to and over him being 12 months old. Once he started walking we havent used it so much but as we are going overseas soon we will be using it again... he will be 20 months and a back carry will be perfect. My boy would happily fall asleep in the ergo each an every time he was in it. Just perfect.
so comfortable and babies love to fall asleep in it

Worth the money
I have used this carrier for about 3 month now and love it, I had a baby bjorn with my first baby and found it left my shoulders really sore. The ergo baby is easy to put on, although this side position is a little tricky, my baby is happy in it, it washes easliy and it is really comfortable, my 7 month old is still in his once a day. I did use the hug a bub while he was a newborn, which I found really good until he started moving around more, I would probably use the hug a bub for a newborn again and then the ergo baby.
Very easy to wear, comfortable, suits mum and dad, washes easily
A storage bag would be nice, a little expensive - wait for a sale

Truly a back saver!
I've heard a lot about this carrier before purchasing it and it has lived up to my expectations. It's light and breathable too. As it's my 1st baby carrier, I can't really fairly compare it to anything else. However, I do think it's high in quality.
1)breathable 2)light 3)doesn't strain my back 4)with heart to heart insert, my baby was able to go in it at a young age
1)the zipper for the hood pocket broke off really easily 2)the hood is a little small 3)the baby heart to heart insert isn't the easiest to use and sometimes the baby's legs get in a funny position

Best thing I got for baby
When baby was one week old we got an Ergobaby Performance and he pretty much lived in it for 3 months straight. Besides the car, it was the only guaranteed way to stop him screaming. Worth its weight in gold! I am average height and my husband is tall and big and it fits us both fine. We were wearing it in heatwaves in summer and it wasn't too hot.
Comfortable, easy to put on, stylish, suits both sexes, easy to wash
The instruction booklet could be a little bit clearer for the side hold, and include instructions on how to feed while wearing it.

Suits everyone to go anywhere
This is the most comfortable baby carrier ever. I put my 8 month old in it on the front, but have seen friends also wearing it on the back with children up to 4yo.
Very easily adjusts so that myself or my husband can wear it. Great for ducking into the shops, or long weekend walks.
My favourite part about it - can discreetly feed, then tighten the straps to lift baby for a nice close cuddle.
Comfortable, adjustable, versatile

On our trip to Thailand one essential item which I believe is essential for a baby / toddler on holiday is a good baby carrier and we were very spoilt to be given the top of the range ERGObaby Performance carrier to road test. It was the ideal product for Thailand as being a hot and humid country the performance is the coolest and lightest of the ERGObaby models.

Questions & Answers
Jesseasked
What would happen if you did face your child outwords in the ergo baby original?
1 answer
Karrie H.Ergobaby
Hi Jesse, Thanks for contacting us to find out the correct information on facing baby outwards. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original is not recommended at all. The Ergobaby Original carriers are only 3 position carriers and they aren't designed to support a baby in an outward facing position. The structure of the carrier simply doesn't allow for it. Facing baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original will put baby's hips in a compromised position. The baby will sit too wide in the seat pushing their legs too far apart which in turn will put undue pressure on their hips. We definitely advise NOT to face baby outwards in the Ergobaby Original.
If you are looking for a carrier in which baby can face outwards, please look at our Ergobaby 360 range. These are the only Ergobaby carriers which will support baby in the correct ergonomic position whilst facing outwards.
I hope this has helped answer your question. Thanks again for contacting us via Product Review.

Hi, we are going to travel overseas and most likely will be carrying our 2.5 up she is 10 kg. We are wondering which ergo carrier will be best for the job. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance

Karrie H.Ergobaby
Hi Slina
Thankyou for getting in touch with us and for choosing an Ergobaby Carrier for your overseas travel adventures. What an exciting time for you and your family!
For travelling, and given the weight of your child now, I would suggest our Cool Air Adapt Carrier. This carrier will take up to 20kgs in weight which means you will get maximum use out of the carrier as your 2.5 year old grows. The Cool Air Adapt is made from the same fabric as Nike and Lorna Jane use in their activewear - it's basically designed to keep yourself and bub cool in warmer months whilst you are wearing the carrier. The other thing I love about this carrier for travel is that the type of fabric it is made out of is very comfortable for older babies whether you need it for warmer weather or not. The Adapt is a 3 position carrier meaning you can carry her on front facing toward you, on your hip and on your back. At 2.5 years of age the back carry becomes a popular choice both parents and child - it's fun and comfortable.
I hope that this has helped with your decision. Have fun on your travels!
Sarah.hyndmanasked
Which style has the best back support for the carrier? I'm looking at 360 or performance
3 answers
Honestly I'm not sure. I only really tried the Performance. When I looked at the fabrics the 360 seemed like it would be quite warm (I bought it in summer in Brisbane). But most stores are happy for you to try it on and put your baby in it (however that's not an option if the baby hasn't been born yet). The 360 let's you put the baby on the front and facing outwards and you can't do that with the Performance. The Performance you can wear on your back, hip, or front (all of which, the baby needs to be facing into your body and not outwards).
Overall the 360 is thicker in padding on shoulder hence feels more supportive than performance. Performance has higher weight carrying capacities of 20kg though.
Babes in Arms E.Ergobaby
The ergobaby 360 carrier has a wrap around waist band which many people find offers superior support. This carrier offers the baby a facing outwards carry position.
The ergobaby performance carrier has dense foam shoulders which are curved more like a hiking pack, which some people prefer. This carrier has mesh lining.
Both are really comfortable. Both are designed to have the load of the baby carried on the hips and not on your back or shoulders. Both are great carriers!
