Poor tuners
Unless you have a TV antennae with excellent reception this unit is not be able to tune in the Free to Air (FTA) channels. My current PVR is a Humax. The Humax, as well the Panasonic TV are both able to tune into all the Sydney FTA. And, I did check if my unit had the latest firmware and it had.
Trying to return the Fetch was another world of pain - initially the staff would not accept it as the box had been opened. How does one determine if the product is "fit for purpose" unless one tries it? After much delay and my insistence that a stor...Read more

Value Go Fetch
In theory the Fetch box is good in practice however it freezes and can be slow to connect. For Netflix, Stan viewing, I use my Apple TV connection as I get a better picture from the Apple device. The free movies in Movie Box are convenient to have when planning an afternoon nap or waiting for the wife to get ready.

BUY SOMETHING ELSE
We bought 3 Fetch Mighty boxes from Harvey Norman 2 yrs ago. They were great to start with but have to agree with everyone else’s complaints that I have read here. We now have the same problems as everyone else.
I have to say that since the last update this is where all out problems started. Some so called IT Fetch “bright spark” applying updates to everyones Fetch boxes, has stuffed up big time and I’m presuming that the reason it is taking so long for updates to come through to correct all their mistakes, is because the issues are massive!!!

Find out how Fetch TV Mighty compares to other Set Top Boxes / PVRs / DVRs
Know better, choose better.
Poor quality electronics. Very frustrating, locks up, takes several minutes to change a channel.
My first box replaced my TiVo box. When I first got the Fetch box, it worked well. A few days later, when you went to change the channel, it literally took 3 to 4 minutes for the box to respond. A huge lag in time after a channel change. The box would lock up. I returned it to Harvey Norman. It was replaced with a second box. About 4 weeks later, it does the same thing, only now it comes up with random menu items on the screen that are un-commanded. Right now, there is a red sign up on the top of the screen saying 'No Internet Connection' yet, ...Read more
it says the internet connection is good on another screen and says it is connected. Having said that, again, when you try and change the channel, it takes literally 3 to 4 minutes before the box catches up and changes the channel. Today, it did a firmware update, and the whole thing is stuffed. Hate it. Don't mind paying good money for something that works and is reliable, but HATE paying money out for cheap crap/rubbish that doesn't work as it should. Wanted to watch the news at 6pm. Go to change the channel. The box changes the channel 4 minutes later. Sick of paying good money for unreliable and inferior crap. When it is working, it does a great job of recording and is awesome at playback, picture quality etc. There are shortcuts that have been taken to clearly maximise profits. I hope you see this as a balanced review. I am now going to try and return this second box and go for a third that I REALLY hope works as advertised. Great when it is working. Terrible when it runs in to obvious software problems that you have no control over.

Great replacement for my Topfield
The old Topfield masterpiece wouldn't accept a remote signal so it was time to reluctantly replace it. So glad we did. The Fetch has a much better picture either because of the supplied HDMI cable or higher spec output.
Series recording off the excellent EPG is fabulous. You can select how much padding before start and after end for each program; plus you can select to only record the current series or one that hasn't been recorded before; plus multiple recordings of the same program go into their own separate folder so they're easier to find....Read more
I haven't yet found out how to do the ad skipping yet but the fast forward/rewind buttons work very well for doing that. The Choice article (https://www.choice.com.au/products/electronics-and-technology/home-entertainment/dvd-blu-ray-players-and-pvrs/fetch-tv-mighty-m616t#product-reviews) states that media can't be copied but the unit has USB sockets. With the Topfield I used to copy unwatched programs onto a USB drive but with 1TB of storage it shouldn't be too much of a problem if I can't do that. I receive excellent signals from Shepparton and very good signals from Bendigo. It was a little irritating that I couldn't delete the Bendigo ones. I had to go through one menu to test the signal strength from each station, write down which was best, then go through another menu to select whether they would be displayed on the EPG or not. I didn't see anywhere where I could actually delete them. I'm very impressed by the remote. It has very few keys but when you press the numbers button, on top left, lights come on inside the keys showing the numbers etc they represent. Pleasantly surprising. Setting up was horrendous though. I plugged everything in and turned it on, expecting to do a channel scan immediately. Not so. First I had to connect the unit to the internet via cable or wireless. I didn't see any option of bypassing this step. Once this was done I had to enter the activation key. Back to the computer to go to the Fetch site, go through all the hoops, pay the $1 (you can pay more for packages but I didn't) and write down the key. It's also sent to your mobile but I didn't know that. Go back to the PVR and enter the activation key. Then it checks the internet connection again and checks for updates. It downloaded an update which took a minute or two but then took over an hour to apply the update. After that was done and the internet connection was tested again it started scanning channels. Altogether, this took about 2 hours in total but it it does work very quickly now which makes the horrendous installation bearable.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

YAWN ... Not a fan of the FetchTV Sleep Mode
I HATE THE SLEEP MODE
Fetch refuse to remove it or disable it
EVERY other device I have allows the user to disable any Auto Power Save, Eco Power Modes, Auto Standby etc but not FetchTV they think every 3 hours it is ok to annoy you and make you find your remote to push a button or they probably expect you to pin the remote to yourself.
If you have any disability EXPECT to get off your butt every 3 hours and find the remote and if your phone rings 2 hours and 59 minutes into your viewing pleasure expect the Fetch Box to fall asleep.
I would...Read more
not recommend buying the retail version you become the guinea pig for each update so if your box crashes they wont update the ISP rented boxes until they resolve their stuff up while you yell at them for weeks.1 comment

Buyer Beware
I have corresponded over the last two days with Fetch support about black screen and another problem where channel scans with Mighty box return less channels and the signals are reduced in quality when compared to direct connection to TV. The tuner supplied in the Fetch box is not as strong as in TV and does give pixelated pictures sometimes and at others a black screen. My conclusion is that a much stronger antenna system is required if I wish to continue to use the Mighty box as primary tuner to watch and record some channels. I bought my bo...Read more
x outright and am still under warranty but Fetch have not given me the opportunity to return faulty remote and inferior tuner as I requested. So I would suggest "buyer beware". Their response from support;- "The reason you're able to see them on your TV directly, is that the single tuner your TV has is probably a touch more sensitive than the multiple (split) tuners inside the Fetch box."Similar opinion? Excellent when it works.
Does everything you need from a PVR. The 3rd unit has just failed. A soft reset is required every couple of weeks and the unit fails after about 12 months.

Absolutely zero support for this product
I have a Fetch Mighty and a Fetch Mini. The Fetch Mighty is totally unviewable with what looks like interference breaking up the picture on all channels except channel 31. The Mini no longer connects to the recordings I do have so that is a wasted device as well. The FTA channel test shows very strong signal strength and quality. Fetch has not responded to repeated emails outlining these problems in over a week. Only method of contact is via email. Effectively, no support and so I have over $600 worth of fetch products that do not work and no way of fixing the problem. Very disappointed.

Moved from TiVo, wish fetch was like TiVo
We have been using fetch for a 3-4 years when it first came out. We had to move away from TiVo as the service was being stopped. In some ways we wish the bosses of fetch would take on the aspects of TiVo. It learnt what you liked and didn’t like by letting TiVo know.
Fetch is heavily dependent on the internet all channels except free to air will use your data, if forget and leave your fetch box on a data use channel it be using data even though your not watching the tv.
If your like us and loose internet a fair bit, it takes fetch forever rec...Read more

Fetch TV Mighty Ticks all the Boxes
Ok i admit i am an ex TIVO owner, it died 5 years a go and just loved the machine and it never missed a beat or recording until its demise. Then i thought a HUMAX 4Tune would take is place but fell well short of expectations it was like living with a poltergeist, i was happy when it stuck got in a reboot sequence and when i found there was no support in WA in the bin it went, YEH!
So what was i looking for? A machine that has minimum of 3 tuners can record and series link add padding to ends of programmes, as we know Australia broadcasters see...Read more

An excellent device for recording or watching TV
On Wednesday 6th December 2017 I recontracted my Internet/Phone/Yes TV by Fetch Mighty with the Local/National Calls from Optus for $85 a month. My previous contract was including a premium channel pack bundled with the Entertainment Bundle for $95 a month.

Very unreliable product
Had this for over 6 months. It freezes constantly, sometime just won’t wake up, fails to connect often, it seems to update itself a lot but to no perceptible gain in performance. Very disappointed . I bought a Telstra TV instead And it’s proving very reliable and easy to use. I have a friend in town who is now on his 3rd fetch tv box (replacement) and he still has the same lack of reliability I have.

Great!
I’ve had multiple tuners and recorders and this box is by far the most reliable. I also like how I can watch movies free or I can rent them, I also like popular apps such as Netflix and Stan. Being able to record multiple channels is also useful.

Awesome replacement for Foxtel IQ
Very happy with whole box and remote. More than two months and not a single issue. Quality of recording is great and the way the recordings are stored by file group is cool. Hard wired into my NBN and no issues streaming the Apps but initially used WiFi with no probs. Remote is good and the ability to set up to use TV settings is smart - only one remote needed. I would like few more streaming Apps like Kayo Sports and also the ability to have Internet Browsing but with the YouTube App it will do for now. Great deal in store from JB HiFi.

Typical no after sales assistance or help
I bought one, had faulty digital audio out, returned to HN for exchange, they say, they have to wait for fetch tv to approve return (taken 2 days so far) very poor, I should not have to wait when I returned it the same day. Alos the one I have already had a forced software update that had a bug in it, now I cannot play any of my home movies or digital movies from my media server. Fetch TV's solution plug in an external drive. This is not good enough still waiting for a promised software fix for this issue 12 weeks later.
My tip now would be to avoid these boxes, poor quality build, poor service when things go wrong, delays in providing assistance.

I loathe my Fetch TV mighty.
One of the greatest frustrations of my life despite the fact that it looks great and has a fun and well designed remote. This is my 2nd box after the 1st was eventually replaced by iinet, my provider. It worked seamlessly for a few weeks then as before, went to sleep and couldn’t be woken by ‘pressing any key’; often picture without sound; a green screen; soft and hard resets did not solve problems and can only be performed when machine is responsive; often told there is no signal which is clearly rubbish. Unplugging the unit does not necess...Read more
arily fix the problem 1st time. This is really substandard and I object to the fact that the onus is on me to prove that the unit is not fit for purpose. I’ve just installed a firmware upgrade so fingers crossed ?Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Extremely Unreliable
Original unit from Optus had constant problems. Recently I got so frustrated with it, that I contacted Optus and they sent me the newer units. The unit was faulty, so Optus sent me yet another new unit. Having exactly the same issues with this unit. They include the following:
1. Hangs at least once a week requiring power cycle.
2. Loses internet connection for no apparent reason. At the time all my other devices have internet connection, and my internet speed is over 90 Mb/s.
3. Recordings are always screwed up (i.e they seem to start about...Read more

I’d suggest the remote control is stuffed. They’re a pretty average device at best. We bought a new one off eBay.
I have the same problem and am looking for answers. All the keys on the remote work except when I'm playing something back. Then I can't skip back or forwards or fast forward/rewind or pause. I figure I must have mucked up some sort of setting but can't figure what. I've even reset the remote on the fetch box to no avail
