My Ducato 2011 Comfort-Matic transmission failed at 53000km, (loss of gears) I had hydraulic accumulator replaced, vehicle performed well.
Now after 90000 km, (at 62000km), I notice the Hydraulic Clutch Fluid cylinder is near on empty. Q. Should I top up Hydraulic fluid and keep driving or take vehicle back to repairer to ensure that faulty parts or workmanship is not the cause of loss of fluid ??>
Your guidance would be much appreciated..
Thank you, Barry J.

We have this problem of loss of both the Brake fluid and hydraulic fluid at 21000 km mechanics suspected a leak in the Actuator and leaking of the Concentric slave cylinder but where unable to find fluid anywhere, we have topped up both reservoirs for about 13000 km till last month with lost all gears and have now replaced the actuator /the clutch full of DOT4 /and Concentric slave cylinder cost more than 6000NZ dollars

You will need to read the onboard computer with a OBDII scanner. The MIL light (malfunction indicator light) comes on when a fault has registered 3 times consecutively. A code will indicate what needs looking at.

Hi, from personal experience I would never purchase any vehicle with a Fiat badge on it again. They are very expensive to repair and they are very technically and voltage sensitive and it does not take much of a drop in voltage for them to start to breakdown and systems to operate at lower voltage and incorrect pressures leading to very long term and expensive repairs.

I can only go on what i have read from the internet and personal experience of the 2011 model but they don't have a good name no matter who you speak to. Fiat are also very difficult to deal with and wont answer to many questions directly and try and avoid straight answers.

If you are considering buying a Fiat i would speak to a Fiat Dealership or Authorised Service Centre (not Cricks Mt Gravatt very bad) obtain all the engine, VIN numbers and possibly have them give you the service history of the vehicle. I ont know if you could get a RACQ or similar to inspect and give a report it will cost but may be worth while. If it is an comformatic auto i would steer clear the manuals seem to be better but not great.

At the end of the day its your money and you can spend on what you like, but I wouldn't be buying one. There are plenty of commercial vehicles on the market that are far superior to Fiat

I couldn't tell you. I had a 2014 ducato van and had lots of problems and Fait took 2 years and 16 visits before they replaced my van but the new 2017 van they replaced it with is spot on. I have had no trouble at all with it at all.

My issues currently plaguing my Fiat Ducato (AVAN MOTORHOME) which I recently purchased.  I have spent approx $3,500+ over 10 mths on the vehicle and
have now been quoted a further $23,500.00 to maintain/fix the vehicle. Gear box/Clutch/ NO GEARS /NO TRANSMISSION COMPUTER ERRORS/PROBLEMS.
I will point out that the previous owners maintained full log books and services
I will also point out that notwithstanding the above, the issues which currently exist do not fall within expected wear and tear for any vehicle and it is my assertion that these issues mean that the vehicle should be deemed to have
never been of merchantable quality. It is unreasonable to expect to have to spend in excess of $30,000 on the
maintenance of a vehicle which was less than 8 years old and had only completed 89413km. This is especially
relevant when the vehicle is a recreational vehicle and commercial vehicle, which one should expect to be more
robust than a domestic use vehicle.
. DONT BUY A FIAT !!!

All those Euro imports no matter what make are assembled, mass produced without relevant endurance tests, from Argentine engine blocks and components to Chinese made bearings. A recreational vehicle should be designed as such, from suspension to engine components and wiring harnesses, reliability becomes void.
Toyota however is totally over kill, brilliant on all components, minimal maintenance, Toyo bearings excellent transmission plus you can get spare parts cheap and easy.
My old Hiace Toyota van work horse has completed 500,000 klm, . compression test average 98%, oil consumption zero, maintenance cost, replaced starter motor and alternator. Long term the euro designs will be a curse on your wallet . As a retired service manager many problem and issues were incurred with the Euro made Ford and Opel Holden GM and the very temperamental Fiats since 1950. None of those engines had a long term life prospective . The current Euro's have turbos fitted of course without them you may not get over the medium slope. The main issue however that most local service centres simply "don't have a clue mechanically about the euro imports, just trial and error and to replace all the associated parts or sensors in anticipation of "bingo" it runs. I do agree that a lemon can pop up in any brand of vehicle however look around my friend ...Toyota rules long term especially in the outback.. You can now buy the Toyota RV imports for a ridiculous price, reliable ; minimum maintenance and proven long term durability. Fact is most euro imports "suck" ......on your wallet.

Hi Barry,
Sorry to hear that. We haven't had that problem but please let us know what it is when you find out. We have a fantastic Fiat dealer here in Redcliffe Qld. They are very professional and have the Fiat computer system called the Executor that would show the fault immediately. There number is
07 34808600. Our fiat mileage is around 48, 000 with no problems so far. Çheers Suzanne
