Never cleans properly
I’ve stopped using the top drawer as the dishes are never cleaned, even when I rinse them before loading the machine. Now the bottom drawer is not cleaning. I’ve cleaned filters etc and use good quality dish tabs but it doesn’t make any difference. This is a pricey dishwasher which is about to be replaced for a single cavity LG dishwasher. I’ve recommended and used F&P appliances for many years with never a problem.

Can I give less than one star?
I feel like I have to wash my dishes by hand first to get a good wash from this dishwasher! This is the fourth dishwasher I’ve owned in 30 years and it is the worst. It is only 18 months old and I’m so disappointed. Expected to have super wash every time from such an expensive machine, but I think it is just a bad design. There is no spray arm above, as with standard dishwashers, so things rarely get cleaned up top. You can hardly fit anything in. Can’t wait to replace it. Don’t buy!
Purchased in August 2021 for A$1,799.00.

Won't honour warranty, terrible customer service!
We built a new home with Metricon. We chose to pay extra for the Fisher Paykel integrated double dish drawer. We moved in May 2017 and dishwasher should be still covered under the 2 year warranty but because the builder installed the dishwasher 5 months earlier ( yes Metricon went months past due date to hand over) Fisher & Paykel won't honour the warranty. It has been used for less than 2 years and both drawers have the same problem of not draining water.
Under Australian Consumer Law this is not reasonable and they should fix the problem bu...Read more

Love the drawer style. Hate Fisher & Paykel terrible customer service and machine issues
I really love the drawer dishwasher. It's easy to use and performs ok. Nothing special but not too bad. Have had two issues and both times machine just needed a reset but Fisher & Paykel wouldn't help me over the phone or give me the reset info. SOOOOO FRUSTRATING. Christmas. They will only send out a tech I need to pay for. Tech is booked out cause I live in a country town. Fisher & Paykel won't tell me how to reset over the phone. AHHHHH This has happened twice now and wasted heaps of my time.

Costly Poor Experience
We bought this dishwasher to replace the first F&P double drawer we owned. The old model was fantastic, so we upgraded when installing a new kitchen. While the double drawers are very convenient, not having to wait for a full machine to start a wash but that is the only positive thing I can say about the the product.
We have 4.5 year old machine that had 5 service call outs for leaking seals, faulty motherboard, water not draining, steam not escaping during the drying cycle thus causing all internal commentary to fail. The last straw was a ...Read more
water leak and the unit failing to stop. Had air fans running on my timber floors for 3 days to dry floorboard. F&P customer service is friendly to deal with but wait time we experienced for service technicians attending site was generally 5-7 working days irrespective of the issue. Summary, I would not recommend this product to any prospective buyer. It looks great but compromises a lot in terms of quality, reliability and finish. The F&P double draw is not a cheap dishwasher, for the same cost you can purchase prestige German brands that deliver a superior outcome. Expensive and unreliable.Similar opinion? Worst dishwasher I have ever had.
DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER. I have had a dishwasher for over 20 years, 2 different models Bosch and Meile, OH and a 15 year old Westinghouse sorry 3!, but as there is only 2 of us now decided to buy the 2 drawer F&P on recommendation. From day 1 it has not wash my dishes as previous model dishwashers unless I rinse every dish/pan before placing in in the washer. This is something that I have always stated that you should not have to do if is a good one, and never had to do (Ok rice and big items need to be rinsed off but anything else ie: grav...Read more
y should not? )The maintenance for this washer is very time consuming and frustrating. I have very rarely had to take a dishwasher apart to clean every component approximately every 2 weeks for it to preform properly. This takes at least 1/2 hour per drawer!! I left it a month and it wasn't preforming properly so took it all apart.OMG there was mould everywhere. BIG MOULD!!! It was on every rack and even the cutlery trays, under the filters and around the rubber rims,( which have stained I Can Not Get It OFF) All i could think was poor this thing is supposed to be washing my dishes and making them safe for us to eat off. I have had F&P out to check it and they have said after cleaning and removing everything to clean it, I didn't replace the filters properly and was charged for their time. I was advise to call the service department and ask for a refund but I question why and did not. Maybe Im the idiot?? Through my previous experience with Dishwashers (20 years) I have maybe had to pull them apart maybe 6 to 12 months to clean the filters etc but THIS THING IS HARD WORK!!! I have even had my plumber look at it as I thought maybe the pressure of the water was not enough, for it but not the case. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS MODE. I cant wait for this thing to give up so I can replace it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I am not happy with the dishwasher.
Our model cleans well. But, there are days where the washing detergent capsule is not used properly, or the powder is left in the compartment without being used. Bottom shelf fell apart and we had to glue it back on. We used liquid nails and it well apart again. We purchased this dishwasher through The Good Guys and it was on special in 2014. Very disappointing, but the positives are, that we can wash kitchen wear in small sums and save water usage.

still a fan after 10 years, wouldn't have anything else
absolutely love dish drawers! We've had them for over 10 years, from the first models, which were a bit temperamental and required lots of service calls (always free), to our current integrated model. I have four of them in my new kitchen. (family of 5, I love to cook, and we often entertain)
+ being able to pack one with just wine glasses, or just pots, and do a delicate wash in one and a heavy wash in the other is brilliant.
+ no nasty spills out the side like a "normal" dishwasher. before we renovated I had a cheap dw here and it was aw...Read more

Will buy again
Have had the double drawer model since 2002. I purchased it because it could be completely hidden behind 2 cabinet (albeit custom) panels. I found we tended to use the top drawer and rarely the bottom. We found it much less wear & tear on our somewhat older bodies than the conventional style dishwasher that we had in our previous home. The major asset: no bending (at least for the top drawer).
It is quieter than our previous standard model. It cleans just as well however we do not use the ECO program and we rinse larger food globs before put...Read more
ting dishes in. Over 13 years, we have had about half-a-dozen service calls which have totaled about the original cost of the dishwasher. Overall, the cost of owning the F&P dish-drawer seems to be about twice that of a traditional design. Would we do it again? For sure. But this time would mount two independent drawers -- one on each side of the sink. Summary: The best no bending!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Worse than rubbish
Massive problems with unit 9 months after 1 yr warenty expired, throwing out the power to the house, so huge problem, got brush off from company and harvey norman. We also live outside a regional centre but no repair service here, and basically told too bad. With such a massive fault that could burn the house down, I though they might like the unit back.
No service to our area, and no help at all.

I've been warned by my cabinet maker that steam can sometimes damage the integrated panels. Is this a common issue? Are some panel materials more suitable than others?

Damage to panels will not occur if correct installation and venting instructions provided by Fisher and Paykel are followed.
Thanks very much for the quick response F&P :)

Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer DD69D17 - any opinion on this model?

Not sure which model that is but if it is a double drawer unit and the drain hose is smaller than other brands then I would not buy it. If tiny scraps of food get in the drainage hose it blocks and causes problems. Also if the bottom drawer has a base board, like a kitchen cupboard skirting then be careful, I have trapped my foot under it when opening and when left open and cut it to bits. I would never buy another one.
Regards, Ken
Mine is a single drawer, never saw the point in having two...... fill it, turn it on, empty it, fill it, ad nauseum, why have two drawers that can go wrong when one is more than enough to clean out every 3 weeks or so?
Two is far superior to one if you have a family. cleaning out simple these days no work at all!! However, I would never buy FP again too much trouble!!
