Broken after only 9 weeks

published

My F&P WashSmart is only 9 weeks old and either won't spin at all, or after the final spin everything is covered in foam. After only the second use of this brand new machine, it left residue on my clothes. It does not suffer from over use. I use it once a week on average, sometimes twice. (We bought this one to replace the same machine that was only a few years old and had developed same problem. It was out of warranty and with callouts and labour, not worth fixing). Completely disgusting this machine is 9 weeks old!!!!

Very happy with this machine.

published

We have owned this machine for around 3 years now. It replaced another F&P machine which lasted around 15 years (which I was happy with & had no issues with whatsoever). Despite some reviewers saying it doesn't wash well or causes clothes damage, we haven't experienced such issues. Also, the "death wobble" experience, in my opinion is caused by people (including my wife) not loading the clothes evenly. i.e. placing all the clothes on one side. I don't have a problem when I load the machine. Its a bit like this dishwasher, but that's another story...I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this machine based on my experience and history with F&P.

F& P reliability, or lack thereof

published

I hAVE been a washing technician for over 40 years, and have worked on most washers that have been produced over those years. with F& P, being probably the main one over the last 20 yrs.
I have found that mechanically, they are as good, probably better than any other Brand that I have ever worked on.
However the main reason that I seldom see one that has mechanically worn out is that their electronics have been unreliable ever since the Smart Drives were introduced into AUSTRALIA. and mosy people get rid of them well before they have the time to wear out
They are costly to repair(electronics) and sometimes over their life, two or three modules may have to be fitted.
Not reliable enough

Worst machine ever don't do it

Very disappointing

published

This machine tears our clothes and does not get them very clean. Other than that, it has a lot of nice features. It is a great example of form over substance. The problems are the preset wash cycles and the poorly designed agitator, which tears the clothes. Actually, it puts holes in knits and thin fabrics (like T-shirts and underwear.) If we could wash using the more gentle "hand wash" cycle, the tearing would be reduced. However, the "hand wash" cycle time is so short (and can not be adjusted) that the clothes don't get clean. Even on "regular" cycle, the wash time is too short. Most of the time is spent filling the tub. The water flow is quite low and takes forever to fill.

Great spin for a top loader

published

I've bought F&P top load again because the spin is really good for a top load washing machine making it much easier to dry washing after. It's the second one I've owned & I've been reasonably happy but I do sometimes have issues with some residue being left on white washing (despite trying to clean the machine). I think next time I'll try a front loader as everyone raves about them, I just couldn't move from being able to add stuff once started & short wash etc.

Fisher & Paykel warranty looks good until you need something

published

Our unit has not worked properly since day one, 10 months ago. We are consistently getting black stains (that look like grease) on our clothes. They are difficult to remove and on some fabrics it just doesn't come out. Contacted F&P customer care and was given 'tips'...did them but had no effect. Re-contacted them given different advice which also did nothing. It was now becoming obvious that they were trying to duck out of their warranty obligations. I mean we can pay for a service to fix an under warranty machine, but that makes the warranty a bit pointless doesn't it? At the end of the day, the washing machine is meant to remove stains not add them!

Very happy NO LINT!

published

Bought this after my LG front loader broke after 5 years of noisy hell ( the spin cycle sounded like a helicopter landing in my house). I couldn't be happier with this easy to use machine. I've had no lint issues so far so good. I got the 10k model and it's the best!

Very pleased with this product.

published

After having previous machine for 24 years and 9 months, decided to buy a new one as old one was leaving scummy marks on washing.
I read the reviews for the Fisher & Paykel 8 kg Washsmart and bought one on 13th December 2014. Very pleased with the quietness of it and features such as auto water level and hand washing cycle. No more scummy marks so I can wash all dark colors in machine instead of having to wash them by hand. Overall we are very pleased with the machine. I hope this one will last me for another 20 plus years. Regards Sheila D Leader

Extremely disappointing machine

published

Extremely disappointed in our experience with this machine from a company that I had always associated as synonymous for quality products and engineering. It is very damaging to clothing even when running on a short delicate cycle - it doesnt clean effectively and most worrying is a random tendency to leave what looks like rust stains on clothing. Tried to persevere thinking we were not using it correctly but have now exhausted every attempt to get and effective, reliable and non damaging wash out of this unit. I will be escalating to F&P to express our disappointment and seek some resolution from them. Wish us luck !!

Great Machine - Excellent Results

published

Bought my machine 2 years ago. I have a business and washes the clothes really clean. Sales lady at Harvey Norman really knew her product. Really happy with my purchase. Machine is very quiet. I really like the automatic water level. Really like the direct drive on the machine. Would recommend to my friends.
Reliable, Quiet, Energy efficient.

Unhappy

published

Bought this machine 2 days ago, even after reading the reviews on it, not happy with the lint issue I thought I'd ring the customer help line only to be told no such filter exists and all they could do is send a technition at my expense, I'm not a fussy person and have read there are filters for them I would be happy with that, no help what so ever fisher paykel next time I won't ignor bad reviews.
Easy to use, quick and quite
Lint,lint, lint. Fisher paykel unhelpful

The best washing machine on the market.

published

I love mine, had it almost a year and no problems whatsoever. My sister has had one for ten years, never a problem with it. I don't have any problems with lint on the darks so I believe the automatic lint filter works well but you can buy one if you prefer to have it. I have only occasionally needed to go to balance the load, it beeps if the load is off balance but this is pretty rare, often it manages to balance itself.
Reliable machine like no other.

Not happy

Lasted three months and then stopped. Two week wait before the repair man will even come to look at it, and then it still will have to repaired! The three wash lights came on and machine stopped. Delay in getting warranty actioned is a major concern. would not expect a new machine to break down

Breaking down after three months!!

No one expects anything new to break down but that's what the warranty is for

Easy to use and works well

published

Based on Choice magazine recommendation we bought one of these washing machines in September 2012 from E&S Trading. Machine was easy to use and washed clothes well but was sometimes prone to becoming unbalanced. We recently gave this machine to our son who just moved out of home and we bought another machine the same online from Stan Cash for a very good price. The new machine is working very well so far.
Good value, easy to use and works well
Prone to unbalance

No problems ... Easy to use ... Love the quick wash option too

published

We were not sure about buying this model after reading all reviews possible but we've had it for over 2 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. I think that only people with problems write these reviews. Soooo
Would recommend to anyone and check Choice Mag before you buy is my only advice.
Upright cos I can't bend down for a front load machine, clear and easy to choose a cycle
Can't put stuff on lid because lid is not flat and basket and clothes fall off otherwise heh!

WashSmart WA70T60GW1 (7kg)

Hi, I have a Wash Smart 7kg washing machine (Model: WA70T60GW1) which has worked fine for some time however it now won't progress to the Rinse cycle. I have tried all the recommended fixes to no avail. I am continually getting three lights when it stops, the middle light on the wash cycle (light 3 of 5), the first light of the Rinse Cycle (from Left) and the Spin Cycle light (only one). Does anyone know what it means?

Does anyone know how many litres of water it takes to fill a full load in a 7kg washer? I know it takes approx 86 litres to do a full cycle but I just want to know how many litres are in the bowl.
