Great machine with a flaw if you have pets
This machine was a bargain when we bought it and it gets a beating from our use as my partner runs a pet grooming shop from home. We've had it just on 12 months and this weekend is the second time the pump got clogged. The first time we spent $170 for a guy to come and clean it and tell us we shouldn't use this machine with pets. I decided to do it myself this time and it was a breeze (2 screws and a bendy clip). Make sure you empty as much as you can and have a bucked ready for the rest when you take the pump off the output. If you're a little bit handy it's easy.
Works well, was inexpensive
Does unbalance sometimes and pump has clogged twice

I didn t actually find any. Once I tipped the machine over, unscrewed the 2 screws that held the pump in place the pump and hose came out far enough for me to unclip the hose and pull the blockage from the pump.
Actually, if your machine is anything like my 18 year old F & P Smartdrive 701, you don't even need to remove any screws. The pump is held on by a bayonet type connection so all you need to do is twis... Read more
t the pump anticlockwise and it drops down. That way you don't even need to disconnect the outlet hose and better still, you can totally remove any blockage or hair from around the pump vanes. (I don't have pet hair problems anyway coz my dog doesn't shed hair). There is a small plastic clip that prevents it from untwisting on its own so you need to lift that a bit while you're turning the pump. After 18 years our machine has finally packed it in due to the bearings. These machines are so well designed it's amazing. A couple of years ago I fully dismantled the machine and gave the bowl and insides a good clean. I only needed to remove a few screws and unclip some electrical wires to get the whole thing apart. I'm on here looking at other machines and reviews but will probably go back to F & P.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Perfect so far after 3 days
After my trusty Aquasmart started shredding towels. I needed to buy another machine & found most other brands seem to have very slow spin speeds. So I decided to buy a Washsmart. I'd have happily bought another Aquasmart but they are so expensive & the last one was second hand & I wanted a new machine this time. I also bought the lint filter online as a precaution, I never had lint problems in the Aquasmart or the machine I had a few years before that, but bought it as the option is there. After a dark load it's amazing how much lint it collect...Read more
ed. So far very happy with the new machine. It's much quieter & faster (maybe too fast) than the Aquasmart & seems much more flexible. The row of lights to show wash progress is great as the Aquasmart only had 3 lights. I'm slightly concerned about the water useage but have adjusted the auto level setting to the lowest & using the Eco rinse option. January 3rd 2015 Update: My last review was after I'd had my machine 3 days. Now one year on its still working well. No problems. Washes well but not as well as my old front loader but I expected that. Recommended to a friend who has just changed from a frontloader too & agrees it doesn't Wash as well. No lint problems at all as I seperate light & dark items & bought the lint filter as a precaution but it catches the fabric softner & collects a lot of lint. 1000rpm spin is great as much faster than most top loaders. would highly recommend the machine as long as you don't expect it to wash as well as a front loader. Flexible wash options & very quiet, lint filter available online if required. Easily fits a queen sized quilt. 1000rpm spin 2 star energy & 3.5 star water ratings not really up to today's standards2 comments
5 months old now & still working well & washing my dog & cats blankets very well. My water bill is less than last year when I had an Aquasmart, which makes no sense. I'm glad I bought the lint filter ... Read more
as it's catching a lot of lint & should make the pump last longer. Would not hesitate to recommend all Fisher & Paykel products as I've never had a problem with any of them in the 16 years I've lived in Australia (including Aquasmart & Dish Drawer)Now 2 years old. Still working perfectly. No issues at all. Love it. Recommended to a friend who bought one & hates it. I've noticed the design has been updated & new models are much more attractive.

Great Machine
We have a flat above one of our shops, where we spend a day a week in winter and several days a week in summer. Our little 6kg machine was old and took ages to get going, as it was on its way out and had to be nurtured into washing our clothes. It was also a little small. So I sent it packing and decided to purchase a new machine. A quick look on Product Review had me thinking that the major companies had forgotten how to make upright washing machines. Nearly all brands and models had more bad reviews than good. Perhaps people are more lik...Read more
ely to write a review if they get a lemon than if they are truly satisfied with their machine. Anyway, I trotted out to Harvey Norman and the sales person convinced me that that was in fact the case. He convinced me that the Fisher & Paykel smart wash series had been tried and tested for years. The WA70T60GW1 looked great and was on sale. For an extra $120 it included a 5 year replacement warranty, which meant it would be picked up and replaced if it developed a fault! Now that is faith in a product! To make matters even better, one hundred of that $120 would be given back as store credits, making the extra replacement warrant cost only $20! My old machines have always had the manual dial. But now they appear to be all touch button. Like computers and TV's, this makes them susceptible to power spikes, so a surge protector is a must. I was dubious about this modern interface - until my first wash. This machine is great, and defaults to fully auto when first turned on. It detects how much water is required, slowly spins when filling to completely wet all the clothes. It then works away quietly, getting the job done without a fuss. The default normal cycle is a lot quicker than my previous machines. My Whirlpool at homes takes forever, even on quick wash. There has been no problems with lint and the wash always comes out clean. There is even a hand wash cycle that is gentle enough for lacy bras etc (not mine!) I am thinking about blowing up my Whirlpool when I get home so I can buy another Fisher & Paykel Wash Smart for there. Easy to use - has auto cycle. Does a great job. Looks smart. nothing2 comments
I've ordered a Washsmart to replace my Aquasmart & it arrives tomorrow. I can't wait as the Aquasmart started destroying my new towels.
My brother has an aquasmart and it never has enough water in it to wash the clothes. He has been using a bucket to add extra! But the Smartwash is a totally different beast.

Find out how Fisher & Paykel WashSmart WA70T60GW1 (7kg) compares to other Top Loading Washing Machines
Know better, choose better.
My worst Appliance decision Ever!
Needing a larger washing machine for my growing family I went down with the intentions of buying something of reasonable price but one that would last and have similar results to my little NEC Fuzzy Logic at home. Loving my parents machine I had no hesitation when I was shown the Fisher & Paykel range, and was highly recommended this product by the salesperson.
I was hesitant as it had the agitator but she insisted that having an agitator made for a better, faster and all round more efficient wash. Trusting the brand and the salesperson (from...Read more

Water wont go in, loud Humm, tried everything
Just bought the machine, the water will not go into machine, blanked of hot as we "MUST" do according to the manual as we just cold water wash.
I installed F&P washing machines for Leader & Watt in Palmerston North NZ.
This machine, from other reviews and our experience, is complete rubbish.
Why do companies that hit on a perfect model then ruin their reputation by compromising their quality and integrity.
SHAME Fisher & Paykel !!!!!!!!!!!
Nice outside
It was a con, a rubbish model

Perfect!
Fifteen year-old Thor front-loader broke down. No fancy electronics, just a good solid workhorse. Needed a replacement. Was working to a limited budget and simply didn't want a top loader or fully electronic. After much research got both in the Fisher & Paykel WashSmart. It's brilliant. It's quiet, fast and economical with all the options required for every washing need. Got a great deal from Electric City (Mentone). Highly recommended.
Quiet. Fast. Economical. Cleans clothes well.Love the hand-wash program.

Hi, I have a Wash Smart 7kg washing machine (Model: WA70T60GW1) which has worked fine for some time however it now won't progress to the Rinse cycle. I have tried all the recommended fixes to no avail. I am continually getting three lights when it stops, the middle light on the wash cycle (light 3 of 5), the first light of the Rinse Cycle (from Left) and the Spin Cycle light (only one). Does anyone know what it means?
