Fantastic - no more hand washing!
This washing machine is fantastic. It is reliable, quiet & easy to operate. Clothes are thoroughly cleaned & rinsed without leaving them twisted, creased or quickly worn-out, whether washing delicate items or heavily soiled work clothes. The best thing is I no longer need to do hand washing. Id recommend this washing machine, without hesitation.

Great machine
We purchased this machine to replace an aging Fisher & Paykel model and we are very happy with it as a replacement.
Installation and levelling took longer than I would have liked but once it was finally installed it has excelled in every wash type. Definitely a winner! Go out and buy one!

Washtastic!
Easy to use and self explanatory functions. Great visual timer of time remaining. Can set a delay start so if someone's getting in the shower or if you won't be back for a few hours. Also has a soak mode which is great for stains. Fairly quiet and no concerning shaking during spin cycle. Great spin and clothes come out less damp than other machines.

Best washing machine for all types of clothes
The best automatic washing machine with easy to load clothes. With the finned agitator the clothes never get tangled unlike the Samsung washing machines. Bought it after Samsung recalled its washing machine over safety issues. Has very little noise when spinning. The detergent and fabric conditioner compartment are easy to fill. It senses weights and doesn't go unless equally distributed. Good safety features

Great washing machine
I have had this washing machine for nearly two months now and really happy with it so far.
When my Kleenmaid machine stopped working after 24 years of service, I want to buy a washing machine that took up less floor space and with more washing options. I did my research and decided on the F & P 8.5 kg Washsmart.
This machine has a soft fin agitator, ample wash cycles and spins the clothes to almost dry. I love the delay start which means I can set the machine to wash when electricity is cheapest and the wash will be ready to hang out to dry when I get out of bed of a morning.
Very easy to operate and pretty quiet when running.

a very efficient washing machine
this machine does everything you should expect from a washing machine. I use the soak cycle regularly and the quick option is handy for a light wash. The clothes are almost dry when the spin cycle has finished which is a real bonus. The lid locks for safety but is easy to open if required. Not noisy, although the spin cycle sounds like a jet aircraft taking off !!! I found the service centre very helpful if you have any questions. This is my second Fisher & Paykel and would not hesitate to buy another in the future

Very impressed
After using my new Fisher & Paykel 8.5kg top loader for a week now, I am really impressed. My old washing machine was very noisy but the F&P is really quiet. It's not the prettiest appliance on the market (no see-through lid or other cosmetic whistles and bells) but does the job very efficiently. I love the soft close lid and the control panel is easy to use. I was delighted to read in the instruction manual that it self-cleans its lint filter during the spin cycle of every wash. Bonus! Very happy with my purchase.

Always been a Fisher & Paykel man
I purchased from Appliances On Line on 1st July 2017. Good price ($765) Delivered next day for free & that was a Saturday... and they took my old 14.5 year old F&P Eco 712 machine away also for free)
A small problem with a kinked CW inlet hose slowed me down to start but i sorted out pretty quickly. Best things i like about this new model:
- very quiet (my old machine was quiet... this even more so)
- The spin cycle goes longer now.... and its worth it. The clothes are so dry before you even hang them out. Really a significant improvement.
- The wash is cleaner than my older Eco 711
I haven't looked at all the 'user' adjustments yet as i haven't needed to. Its early days but very happy so far.

The outcome..... I rang F&P Help yesterday re the logic of the pause function and I'm afraid the OH&S kids have nailed it. Below is from the on-line instruction manual - Page 19.

● Unsupervised clothes washers filled with water can present a drowning hazard to small children. In order to minimise any risk of this type of accident, your washer has been pre-programmed to know when this potential hazard is created and drains the wash water to a safe level. ● If you pause or power off your washer at any time during the wash cycle when there is water in the bowl, the washer will activate the auto drain function after 3 minutes. This will drain the water in the wash bowl to an acceptable level, minimising any potential hazard. ● A warning message will be displayed on the digital display while auto drain is in operation. The cycle can be restarted at anytime by touching ‘POWER’ and/or . I requested F&P for the stats of how many accidents had occurred as a result of being able to pause the machine but they were not available. Overall still a very good machine.Similar opinion? Great washing machine
Cleans clothing well when used in regular (NOT water saving) mode. Load size is good, it's a lot quieter than other top loaders I have previously owned. A number of different options for washing including one for sheets. Can be a bit rough on clothing depending on the mode used. I found water usage quite standard compared to my old top loader. A good option if you have a large family.

Extremely happy coming from a front loader
After having a front loader for so many years, we are extremely happy with our purchase of this top loader. For a family of 5 it manages our quantity of washing perfectly. It is extremely easy to use with my most fave feature is the delay feature. We wash delicates and heavy duty work wear and everything comings up great. It is quiet when in use and after the long cycles of a front loader the 47min cycle is just fantastic. Has the ability to wash hot, warm and cool washes. Highly recommended

Third time proves it.
My first F & P machine was perfect and was installed professionally by F & P technicians in Sydney. When I moved to the country I purchased a top loader F & P without an agitator, which was a monster for tying clothes in knots, damaging clothes and leaving heaps of lint. Thankfully it clapped out after 5 years but proved to be inefficient and costly.
My new F & P 8.5 top loader is almost as good as my first machine. [which had an extra rinse option and a favorites option which I liked]. However my new model has auto water level and a timer and washes well in a short time. Unfortunately it wasnt installed by F & P technicians but the delivery men who installed it, assured me that it is fine!

Hope this one last longer than the last one.
The first 5.5kg Fisher n Paykel lasted 10 and was still going when I gave it away. The next Fisher n Paykel 7kg only lasted 4.5 years.
I took out the extended 5 year waranty hoping it will out last that period.
Overall this new machine is going very well and happy with it so far.

Very happy!
Purchased to replace my 13 year old F&P top loader. Has worked faultlessly and is a little quieter than it's predecessor. Over the years F&P changes have seen the footprint reduce and this model takes up quite a bit less space and has now provided somewhere for the clothes airing rack to live when it's not in use. Only negative - if you could call it that - is that I can't tell where in the cycle the wash is up to (if I wanted to add something after the load has started).

Fantastic Washing Machine
My clothes are washed and rinsed very well. It is so quiet, you can hardly tell it is running. I love this machine, it even has a countdown telling you how long to go before it is finished. I also love the AUTO feature on the water level as it adjusts it automatically for you. The operation pad on the machine is so easy to use, I would highly recommend this Washing Machine .

Good unit
We had a Maytag washer & dryer for over 25 years. With 4 children, we did plenty of washing on a regular basis. We still have the fantastic commercial quality dryer but the washer needed a part replaced just over 5 years ago. She who must be obeyed wanted a new machine rather than spending money on the Maytag since the 4 children had grown & left. We purchased an Electrolux (a horror but it’s difficult to replace a Maytag) which, after 3 months, we ”requested” be replaced with a better, simpler machine that worked. We were sent a Simpson SWT95...Read more
42 (9.5 kg) which needed the control board replaced 6 weeks after extended warranty expired. $400 odd so we decided on a new machine. We still wanted a larger machine as we only do 2 washes per week (clothes/sheets and towels) but sometimes more when children & grandchildren turn up. After doing relevant research (Choice, service engineers, parts suppliers), we purchased this machine. It has smaller external dimensions compared to previous machines. We use the auto water level and it washes almost as well as the Maytag and better than the Electrolux & Simpson. It washes much faster and considerably quieter than the Maytag, Electrolux and Simpson. We haven't had it very long but it’s soooo easy to use and the buttons can be easily reprogrammed if required. We have been impressed with the performance and quality of the machine for the price. Appliancesonline.com,au installed it, tested it and took the old machine away.1 comment
As at January 2018, our opinion of the machine hasn't changed. It's great!

GREAT.. Compact, Efficient and Economical.
I was in need to replace my "Maytag"washing machine after 14 years of great service. Never easy to find "the same" but after a lot of research, decided on this machine. It was actually bigger in capacity (8.5kg) than my old one (7kg) BUT had a smaller bowl inside and this concerned me a little to start off with. The entire machine all over in size is quite a bit smaller than the other one, but I have certainly found that it is just as efficient, if not more so, and nice and sleek to give a bit more room in the laundry. I have had it now for 3 m...Read more
onths and love everything about it and would recommend it to anyone. I love the timer delay option, as I set this to come on late at night, in the "off peak" electricity period, and it is so quiet that I set it and go to bed and never hear a thing. Most impressed with the quietness of this machine, and it washes beautifully and spins very well. There is a choice of spin cycles also to choose from, so this can be tailor made for you. Overall, I have never been so impressed with a washing machine, and I thought I really loved my old Maytag and was quite disappointed when I couldn't get this any longer, but looks as though I have found a fantastic replacement.Similar opinion? Washer 4 years old smart wash keeps going off balance any reasons obviously the clothes are bundled up but never used to do this does it routinely neighbour has same washer same age and hers has started doing same thing????

Our F&P washing machine (WA8560G1) is now doing the same thing - now stops due to "out of balance" numerous times each load - I suspect the suspension rods may need replacing. Machine is not that old (out of warranty) and I would have thought the suspension rods should have lasted a little longer. With time off due to the current health crisis, I have some time to investigate and replace if necessary - replacement seems straight forward once new suspension rods are purchased.
It is problem apparently well known for it my neighbour got a technician and think he replaced 2 having same problem

So after 1 week an update.
3 mins the drain function starts occurring. F& P will probably declare this as a safety function but i reckon they stuffed up! It happens with the lid open or shut. I even turned off the machine on the control panel (no lights) but it still activated the pump after 3 mins. So i had to unplug from the wall. Watch for further updates.I also find the 'pause' button logistics annoying. If you want to pause the machine for whatever reason (and you're allowed you know... you are the owner) then after approx... Read more
