Fisher & Paykel CleanSmart WL1068P1 (10kg) (page 3 of 4)
Reviewer Photos & Videos
Bought this machine 4 1/2 years ago. Control board replaced after 2 years due to failure. For the last 4 four weeks had to balance the load about 160 times, yeah thats correct an average of 20 times per wash. The cycle that is supposed to take 45 minutes takes 90-100 mins.
DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE, TERRIBLE. Piece of junk from F&P.
My previous machine was SIMPSON and lasted 12 years.
There is no selectable water level other than auto I guess for the weight. Should have stayed with the old model. The load has to be stacked around the sides as though there is an invisible agitator. Then blankets and sheets still get wrapped up in a ball across the top. Not enough water is the main issue on cold wash.

The Fisher and Paykel cleansmart 10kg was recommended to us by the workers at the good guys, they assured us it was the best on the market. Wow we’re they wrong!
Absolutely awful machine, clothes are always coming out still dirty, machine is constantly jumping around due to being off balance because of the clothes even after placing them in correctly. Never enough water covering clothing. I know it’s meant to be a water saving machine but having to wash the same garment 3 times because it’s still dirty completely takes away any water saving....
Read more Buyers beware do not buy this machine specially those with babies and children or husbands that have messy jobs. It’s so saddening as this was my first washing machine moving out of the family home. Such a shameI have always used fisher & paykel washing machines but I'm extremely disappointed in this model. When washing bigger items like sheets & towels there isn't enough water level to clean the things properly. I hang the sheets out to dry & there are always dry patches where the water hasn't even touched the sheets. I feel fisher & paykel have let their customers down with this model, it does not wash the clothes very well at all...give me the Gentle Annie back any day!

WM getting noisy and always out of balance, wasting our time to distribute the clothes to different angles. There should be suspended roller on each four corners so that even it's not balance during spin time it will not stop and create noise. How can you avoid this noize and without stopping the spin.

Within 1 month of owning this washing machine the water pump needed to be replaced. After 4 years of owning it we needed the entire bowel replaced which Fisher and Paykel made a very difficult process. Dispute using the recommended detergent and trying many others clothes come out visibly dirty and if you have clothes that habe sand or dirt it does not wash this off and you have to vigoursly shake the clothes before you hang them out. When washing sheets they bunch up, the machine goes out of balance every time and half the sheets come out dry ...
Read moreand therefore unwashed. The machine constantly goes out of balance despite having suspension rods and a new bowel. I would not recommend this machine to anyone as the clothes don't clean well and it constantly goes out of balance. No problems at all but died all of a sudden. Not allowing water into the bowl and not even a year old. Frustrating phoning around trying to get it looked at. Mean while dirty washing is piling up. Nothing seems to be made to last anymore. Should surely get 5 years of problem free washing or am I asking too much?

We purchased our fisher & paykel cleansmart as we have four kids and just needed a bigger washer. It's been pretty good so far. About 6 months ago we found it would stop mid -late cycle (during spin), shake and shuffle around, start beeping and stop. I called out a repairman who charged me around $200 for a new part but cannot recall what it was for.
Anyway it's been pretty good since.
My biggest qualm with this machine is I do find myself questioning its timing...it will say 30 mins left but I'm certain it takes longer for the cycle to finish.
Overall a good machine. It will do a large load quite easily. I have washed quilts in it also which is very handy. If you're looking for a large family machine definitely worth a look at.

This machine would make a great boat anchor only probably go off balance and I will be still be able to hear the beeper going off. Thanks for ruining my clothes with rips and piling and a 35 minute cycle taking a number of hours due to stoppages and yes we have balanced our machine a number of times with still no success with blankets or towels. Save yourself a headache. I brought a Bosch front loader after putting up with this machine for 3 months and I am thrilled with it. First and last Fisher & Paykel in this house.
This machine has no lint filter. It is so rough on the items washed and creates a lot of gritty lint from all of the items - especially when I do "towels only loads" - everything ends up very creased with lint all over everything - I dislike this machine immensely - our whole house has lint everywhere because of it - our clothes look unkempt with lint balls all over them. Worst machine. No lint filter ? How silly. Very impractical.

I have owned this machine one week, but it has not stopped since it's arrival. With 2 queen & 2 king beds, I've now washed all the pillows and bedding & saved on Dry Cleaning. A F&P loyalist, this machine has followed a Gentle Annie & 2 x 8kg Intuitive's over a 38yr span, with the latter being my most loved machine. I'm an avid washer ..... sometimes rewashing if not satisfied with the first wash (often discovered on the clothes line when I'm hanging things out) so I'm hard on w/machines. I do sort into the obvious whites, darks, sheets, towel...
Read mores etc, etc and I only ever use the Fast Spin on towels, mainly using the Light Spin as I hate wrinkled sheets & clothing. Anything requiring ironing is done wet, straight out of the machine after a Light Spin & then hung out to dry on hangers. I pre-spray collars and stains with Spray N Wipe before washing, or I pre-soaked heavy stained items and I rarely use fabric softener after noting its buildup inside the agitator of my previous machine. And as I have a wet back chippy fire, I often do warm/hot washes in Winter utilizing the free hot water, otherwise, I'm a cold water washer. I mention this as I have figured a person's style of washing will affect the performance of this particular machine and the outcome of your washing. I did read a few reviews before purchasing, with SCRUD (the combination of undissolved washing powder, fabric softener and dirt build-up) being my most concerning issue. This causes marks on clothes of a black tar-like substance seeping from under the agitator. The sales assistant tells me high users of "Cold Wash, always with Fabric Softener" will inevitably have this occurrence. It turns out a couple of weekly warm/hot washes will prevent this build up, therefore eliminating or reducing the number of Bowl Clean Cycles which wastes hot water. So first observations: (without reading the manual) 1. Super, super quiet 2. High Efficiency On = Less water Off = More Water 3. No "advance cycle button" 4. All Spin Cycles are far better than previous models.FURTHER UPDATE: Well ..... what can I say. I'm having this swapped out for a 10kg Fabric Smart with an agitator. It's now collecting more lint in the folds of my bedding. A F&P Serviceman tells me I p...
Read moreurchased an Aqua Smart & should have a Fabric Smart. I do not live in an area with water restrictions & I have my own inground well anyway. Even though I clearly spelt out my requirements, the sales assistant talked me into this because Harvey Norman don't have the rights to sell the machine I needed. But full credit to them and F&P, Harvey Norman have acquired a "one off" for me (extra $252) based on the technician's report. Thank God I purchased the protection package that enabled the swap (I usually wouldn't). It's on its way to be installed. TO BE CLEAR, everything else washed perfectly and this is a great machine for water restricted areas. The lint can be brushed off the bedding once it's dry. It just depends on how bothered you are.- 4 reviews

We bought the 10 kg Cleansmart and have been sorely disappointed. It is constantly out of balance, ineffective to the point where I have to wash most clothes twice, and leaves blacks covered in powder - despite trials with different powders and heat settings (I'm assuming the powder is on everything but just more visible of blacks). It constantly stops becuase of over sudsing, even when you use the recommended type and amount of powder. Overall, I regret this purchace. Washing everything twice continues to be extremely costly.
Due to previous experience with F&P we bought a 10kg CleanSmart - big mistake!
Can only half fill machine as lint & washing powder stays on clothes, unbalances all the time, sheets are tangled every wash & then unbalances. Have to top up water every cycle. Water does not cover clothes when washing.
Extremely frustrated & want a refund. Rang F&P & of course they had never heard these complaints before.... awaiting a technician to come & look at it. Takes me longer now to do my chores than with my previous 6.5kg one.
First wash was a load of towels on towels cycle, not enough water put into bowl to cover adequately and left lint on most of towels so therefore I assume the inbuilt lint feature is a myth and does not work! terrible, feel like asking them to take it back - very disappointed and I can assure you this is a genuine purchase!

I had a Kleenmaid top load washer previous to this machine. It's early days to tell if it will last the distance & I had my washer previously for 20 odd years. This washer cleans well but I had a bit of a time getting use to the little water it uses. It's nice & quite & spins excellent. I chose a low profile agitator because in my Kleenmaid the clothes with cords got caught around it & pull the cords out to my frustration. You do need to place the clothes around the sides as the instructions specify & you will get a good result. You just can'...
Read moret dump all clothes in the middle from the basket. You have to use a liquid or powder with high efficiency on the label & cannot use powder laundry boosters which was a huge disappointment for me personally because your not explained that when purchasing. You also cannot use a thick type fabric softer too. There are a few negatives in regards to the laundry products. The most disappointing thing overall for me is when calling the Fisher & Paykel help line as a had a few what I thought was simple questions for the most the lady didn't know most of the answers to & had to go off & check with a technical staff member as my questions weren't of that nature. I did read the manual before hand but needed the further assistance. She was quite rude towards the end of our conversation. For that part I was let down but overall the washer was a good purchase. The Bing Lee staff member was excellent & would purchase from him again. (St Martins village Blacktown store)- 3 reviews
Clothes come out clean, no residue of washing liquid left on anything. Its extremely quiet compared to my last machine, Kleenmaid. I do not have any problems with clothes tangling or lint on clothes. I have washed towels with sheets and clothes and not had a lint or tangling problem. Very happy with performance. Dont listen to bad reports, perhaps they are not taking care loading the machine.

Not all it's cracked up to be - customer service useless.
Whilst originally I was a big fan of this machine (purchased Aug 2016), the machine is quiet. Lately I've noticed that quick washes bend the underwires in my bras, and even more recently a handwash has been tearing clothes. I've tried to contact Fisher & Paykel but they have not been wanting to help.
The machine is nothing short of a headache. It WIIL COST YOU MORE in the end. I have followed all care instructions since I bought it and this is what happens:
1. Spin cycle didn't work after 2 years.
2. Dosen't wash clothes well at all.
3. Leaves lint/washing powder on your clothes.
4. Leaves small holes and damage to clothes.
5. Hot water hose sprays after 2 years. Power cut signal appears and dosen't start some days.
6. Off balance even with smaller loads and making sure machine is level. Jumps.
7. Agitator dosen't sit low enough s...

Lasted just over 2 years.
1. Excessive lint left on clothes.
2. Clothes tangled and stretched.
3. Out of balance often.
4. Developed a water leak that slowly soaked the clothes with clean water after the wash cycle had finished.
5. The main control unit & power supply burnt out completely and the machine went to the metal recycler where it was in its element at last.

Doesn't have a manual fill so there is not enough water to cover when washing things such as pillows & bulky items. Everything that comes out has to be ironed & I haven't had to iron for years with very good reason! I have to choose the Easy Iron option every time but things still come out creased & very wet as well. I washed a dog bed today which I do every week, but when I opened the lid the stuffing was all over the machine & bed needed to be put into the rubbish. This was a new bed so should not have disintegrated like it did for at leas...
Read moret another 6 - 12 months. Don't get me started on lint or having to dissolve the was powder first. Knowing how great a previous F&P washing machine was and that this product was given a 5 star rating by a reputable reviewing service, I am shocked at how bad it is & can not see myself spending the next 10 years putting up with it :(- 3 reviews

It's looks good but that as far as I would go.
It's ruff on your clothes and you nearly have to iron every thing that you wash.
No manual water level so when it washers the clothes the water level is about 5 cm below the clothes.
It's the worst washing machine I have ever owned.
But I must say we got it from Harvey Norman Campbelltown and they were fantastic we told them the problems and they exchanged it with a new machine. We will see how the new Samsung goes.

Love its capacity and low agitator so that I can fit in doonas. BUT..
It performs very quietly and doesn't have incessant beeping one reason for replacing another previous brand at under 1 y.o. As a water savings model, I knew that it would rely on harder agitating and require performance washing powder to clean the wash. So as a chemically sensitive user I was already worried . I use a sensitive powder suitable for front loader. I sort into loads into: sheets, towels, undies and lights (tees), and brights with darks which sometimes get combined with polyester tops in mesh bags and all items are washed inside out...
Read more . The darks get washed only on hand wash cycle to minimise excessive rub and dye run and using gentle eucalyptus liquid. The loads are totally tangled after spin (after using either of the 2 top spin cycles) but in almost 2 years never had any damaged items. I never use it to capacity due to separating the loads. My son throws everything together so gets very creased and sometimes lint covered clothes. (But the advantage is all done inside an hour!!) All my separated loads take about an hour each to complete. Lint is washed down the drain which disturbs me as i know how much was produced by previous machine which used a full tub of water per load. (Don't know if this will ever cause a blocked drain ). Fine lint (looks like dust) is also visible in the tangle folds but only noticeable on the dark sheets load or on items in a larger load of darks/brights. I also always turn off the high efficiency to increase the water fill. I get annoyed that the programs are so long (the price to pay for water savings.) I also get annoyed that the stop/start button resets the program and also that the only soak program is for 2 hours in the middle of the cycle - now if i want to soak overnight i start a program then turn power off when "filled". and then spin and re-start next day. I was hoping to regularly wash pillows but they have been the cause of leaking as they float - same happened for doonas: the water can run out over top of inner tub if the item floats up. For the same reason they don't get fully wet either. ( I now do these manually in the machine by a time-consuming fill and hand-agitate then soak and then reprogram to rinse and spin to finish.( which is better than doing it in the bath!) Having mentioned tangles, I have never noticed excessive creasing in the dried product e.g. sheets. The program selector also has an intermittent problem which i will address before warranty runs out where a program will stop and require restarting at the start of the cycle. I was advised that the control board would need replacing...It seems there are many factors affecting the wash performance of this machine. Ive been able to work around them but at $1000+ should i have to? *AFTERTHOUGHT* The lint I refer to may actually be washing powder 'sediment' since my son does put it straight onto his clothes whereas I premix and put down the detergent shute; also that we use cold wash which may not dissolve it adequately....- 3 reviews

I bought this machine because my previous F&P machine broke, after 11 trouble free years. Unfortunately, I trusted the brand and didn't even look at the reviews here, especially, given that Choice magazine gave this machine a tick.
It turned out that the machine has no manual water level setting. It barely uses any water, resulting in clothes being pushed around by the agitator with a cupful of water on the bottom of the machine. As a result it doesn't properly wash anything and causes unnecessary wear on the clothes. I wouldn't bother desc...
