BIGGEST LEMON GOING DON"T BUY IT
Just had INGI from Ford on the phone after two years of being told that Ford are investigating a technical problem that we have with our Ford Ranger Wildtrack (2014) that it isn't a fault its a safety feature and that its a known safety feature but she was really sorry that everyone who has been dealing with the case didn't know it was a safety feature.....What sort of training are these people getting, what sort of communication is there in Ford and she also informed me that FORD does not have a complaints procedure she was the most senior per...Read more
son who we could speak with....great so to anyone looking to buy a FORD in Australia DON"T because the safety feature will put your life in danger when driving the vehicle, the blue tooth and Sat Nav will switch off as soon as the temperature exceeds 38 degrees so unless you live in the Blue Mountains you are stuffed the sales people don't tell you this little gem, God forbid that a vehicle designed for working where Sat Nav and Blue tooth are required will actually work because according to FORD you don't need a reliable Sat Nav or Blue tooth, really interested to hear from FORD about their complaints procedure and the fact its taken two years to come up with this gem, oh and the three FORD dealerships the service managers all know nothing, clearly not communicated to the dealerships that its a safety feature they still think there is a problem with the vehicle GREAT SERVICE FORD Love your work great product does not meet safety requirements and will put the drivers life in danger GOOD ON YA FORD GOOD to know which vehicle NOT to buy if you want features to work. Do yourself a favour stay away from this vehicle because accordingto FORD this "safety" feature is across the board buy from a manufacturer that understand that Australia gets above 38 degrees on a very regular basis but we still need blue tooth and sat navSimilar opinion? Love it, but heavy on fuel when towing.
Love this truck. Purchased new in Darwin in September 2014. Driven around Australia including 5 weeks in Tasmania towing a 21 foot Jayco Silverline Outback. Almost 60,000 klms travelled, 50,000 of which were towing. Fuel consumption lately has been around 20 litres per 100klm. Never been at 15 as many people suggest. Has got worse on this latest trip heading again south from Darwin towards Qld and then NSW. Service due at 60,000 ; so will mention it to the Dealership then. However, so far so good with only a few very minor problems. I still love this truck.

Worst vehicle I have ever owned
New transmission after 30,000 Klm
Flex plate replace at 40.000 Klm
After 60,000 Klm now has a transmission issue
Had a PK ranger with no issues doing the same work & A RG Colorado doing the same work with no issues.
This vehicle has cost us more than it is worth.Bought after no issues with a Colorado Auto. This vehicle has cost us more than it is worth. If you are towing buy something else.We have ordered a 70 series Cruiser. They may be basic BUT,they are unbreakable.

just ok
Have 2011 top of the range bt50 version. 115k on the clock. Never off road. Auto trans flex plate cracked, torque converter has to be overhauled as a result . Out of warranty of course! My mechanic hopes it will be under $3k! Reckons it probably wasn't right straight from the factory. Nearly 2wks without a work car so far. Not happy. Was hoping to trade it in for a 2015 Ranger hi rider but now I'm not so sure. It seems like all the car companies are talking us for granted. Overpriced with no or very little after sales support. This doesn't take into account the brake problems the in first month of it's life!

recall problem
My ranger 2012 had a recall on the coolant hose.
so i took it back to be replaced. on replacing the hose some how the hose was installed wrong causing the wiring around the hose to rub to bare wire causing the car problems with the computer and shutting the car down.
It took the wiring about 8-10 months to play up.
So make sure the recall work is done right.

2012 ranger 3.2 xlt purchased this car with 17,000 k on the clock traded a 98 cruiser and a -06 bravo diesel ute thought i would downsize and make use of one car not two (not) mistake no one, when i went to pick it up the missus said to me but its a ford, mistake no two, good car in a straight line but around corners Bravo killed it,you just never felt comfortable with where this car was going to go,hit a bump and it would jump sideways, would hate to take it off road, alarm would go off in the middle of the night for no reason, the cruise contro...Read more
l would cancel out after overtaking when signalling to come back into the lane, all these little things added up to one problem after another, but having said all that it did have a good drive line, motor and gearbox combo are pretty hard to beat but after 30,000ks i'd had enough, bought the missus and 2nd hand 05 rx330 lexus and myself an 07 bt -50 could'nt be happier.Similar opinion? Turbo lag and air con problem
I purchased this ute with the intention to keep it for many years. It's a 2012 px duel cab 2.2 with 55 thousand on the clock It has major turbo lag (feels like a 3 second delay) which is dangerous at intersections and gearbox shift is ruff. I am also having major air con problems or say NO air con. All above problems have been discussed with my local ford dealer and not much has been done. I'm so unhappy after 3 months of owning it, i'm ready to sell and buy a hilux.

Does everything I need
Realistic economy 10 liters per 100 day to day urban/open, 4.5 down hill, and wind behind, 16 plus towing big boat. Service cost first 3 are free, Lane Ford Mandurah have been 110%. Fitted flexisport canopy, ARB bull bar and towbar. The 3.2 diesel has good grunt. Great comfort and safety. Only down side it is big for parking. Vehicle hasn't missed a beat though. All up was $45k. Very happy.

pre filter. They fixed it that day,, gave me a loan 4x4 so I could go fishing. So far so good at 50,000 klm. I put a set of General Grabbers AT 265/70 16 tyres for up north holidays. Worked well off road. They made the Ranger bit harder onroad and took about 100klms off each tank of fuel. Gone back to the road tyres. Can't say enough of the service from Lane Ford 100% plus. October 2nd 2018 Update: Ran bad, simple fix. Private use. Self service out of warranty. 89,000 klm owned since new. Everyday use and been a great car, tow vehicle. Changed the fuel filter, tested and it gave full throttle driving a day or two later. Started to run gutless, Smokey and drive train warning came up. Injectors sounded noisy fuel economy through the roof. Was perplexed as to why. After reading about all sorts of bad scenarios of injectors and fuel pump motor mega dollar repairs. Found to be a split in the intercooler cold hose to the throttle body. Split wasn’t immediately obvious till closer inspection. Wasn’t obvious at park idle, only under load did the problem manifest and badly. All to do with mass air flow matching fuel, but air escaping and hence over rich fuel feed. The failure of the hose after the fuel filter change was just a coincidence. So a new hose $75 and cured. Took 5 minutes to change out. Running smoothly again.Similar opinion? Decided on Ford Ranger rather than Isuzu
Was actually dialling to order an Isuzu when my phone rang. The Salesman at Rebel Ford had impeccable timing, was negotiable, and for an extra 0.2 pulling power a deal was done. Although a little heavy on fuel around town it is reasonable on the open road and has performed well over these past 12 months. Can recommend this vehicle and this business.

Love my Ranger Xl and then accessorised
I purchased my Ranger 6 months ago. I purchased an XL because I don't like sand in the carpet and this beast will get dirty.
I am now using the saved money to accessories and make it even tougher than it already is.
I have now traveled 12000 km with 3000 km with a fully weighted vehicle and towing 2.500 kg being around 5.5 ton in total. The beast sucked it up with ease, no hill was an issue with plenty of power to spare, in comfort and with a very secure and stable ride ( you need to beef up with airbags or heavier springs if you want to ...Read more

The ford salesman told me Ford would look after me.
As soon as I got to my local ford dealership In early October 2012,the salesman quickly got the ball rolling for a sale [he didn't mention that he was only giving me $9,000 for the trade In for my current ute that had only done 90,000ks.Both Toyota and Holden offered me $15,000 trade In.]
The salesman told me that my new ranger would be ready and delivered for me to pick up by Christmas time,or the end of January at the latest.
When I went over the contract and queried the trade In price,he said I should talk to the manager If I wasn't happy...Read more

Perfect Ute just love my Ford Ranger
Awesome!!!! purchased in used condition. had for 1 year, Ford has made huge improvements in this category, and they catching to that tired old white goods brand Toy-ota for very good reasons, the Ford Ranger is a superior ute, and makes the american named rebadged Holden look pathetic, reliability is well above most makes recalls are very minimal and Ford servicing is improving might I add..

love our Ranger
We bought ours brand new 2011 and still going strong. Love it and has taken us many miles. Its in diesel and my husband is a ford man. And its manual. 4x4 and we just hook up our trailor and off we go. We have also helped alot of people out of ditches and so it has a great pulling power. Its great and reliable for me when husband is away .

Only problems
Thailand built Ranger XLT 2014. First week covers for A pillars had to be removed as the factory forgot to install sound proofing foam. Second month the passenger side door had to be entirely replaced due to a broken internal component which was very noisy and could not be replaced. After 10 months and only 7k kms the driver's seat cloth has totally fallen apart.

Love it
Bought an XLT dual cab. It has everything I wanted and I am very happy with it. Even my wife who had reservations about driving such a big car likes it. Particularly happy with the technology and safety - better than Amarok. The only negatives are that it does not have a reversing camera standard (only available on Wildtrak I think) and the auto gearbox does "search" a bit between 60-80kph.

A surprise to what everyone else thought a wonderful truck
Purchasing a Ford 2014 XLT Ranger 3.2L 4x4 Auto with only 4km on the speedo I thought it was a great investment after reading it was one of the most updated and reliable 4x4, nice looking, turbo powered with 3.5 towing. What more could you ask for?
Sadly I have only driven it in the city clocking up 4000km and I already have a rear oil main leak that is booked in to be repaired, I have had the Bluetooth issues that required to be reprogrammed because it was not responding. To top it off while your driving and holding at a steady speed it inter...Read more

At last something that does what they say
Took the keys to the Ranger in September 2014 trade a Nissan Patrol which there's nothing wrong with them I've had two of them I just needed an auto that towed 3 ton & up because of a leg issue I have. Our frist trip was to Newcastle. What a surprise, as soon as we got going up the Hume I new it had more torque than the Nissan and some what better on fuel. It just seems to hold on better and you feel more in control. Up and around the hills in Sydney, no problems it just stay there: pass trucks going up and they pass you on the flat. Value for ...Read more
dollar is good even though it may not be finished off as well as a Nissan or Toyota, you're buying a vehicle that gives you all the goods. We got it to do a lot of traveling and caravaning - so far just over 10,000 kms - so I think it's passed most of the test. Don't get me wrong, if you got a Nissan they're fine and I was sorry to see mine go. But if your about to hit the track caravaning or doing a bit of off road, just take one for a test, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It even impressed the wife, happy driving.Similar opinion? A dog
2015 model, less than a 1000km, started making a noise like something spinning and hitting metal, and blowing black smoke so dense I couldn't see road behind. Power was noticeably less around 1500-2000, no torque, smoke and noise then stopped. I took it to the dealer, plugged in computer, no problems at all they say. Still down on power, I think it's a turbo issue. Will get it dynode to prove to them it's lacking power.
After 25 years of new Holdens with no problems, I get this from a Ford after 4 weeks. They can have it back if they think it's fine, I'll get a Holden instead.

Test Drive
I test drove this car as I have been looking at replacing my current 4WD vehicle. I was very surprised at a the comfort and power this vehicle offers. I have very little to complain about other than the price of the "Wildtrak" of which I was interested in. One let down was the small monotone LCD screen, come-on! Most cars have better that that, otherwise this is one impressive vehicle. Is it the best UTE? Quite possibly!
