Ford Ranger 2014 3.2l 6speed
I have the same problem goes into lip mode, no codes or dash lights. Dealer has no idea. I had another issue and disconnected my battery overnight. Next day connect it and I felt like the car was about 25% more power. Only lasted two days. Would be interested in seeing if anyone else gets same result.

Ford Ranger Hi Rider limp mode one year of trouble
Unfortunately here in Australia it seems that no one can help me and I don't know where else to go.
It's a year that I'm trying to fix my ford ranger with not success. The car has been at any ford dealer and mechanic imaginable, with the same answer '' we don't know what is the issue ''.
We can't drive the car, and we can't sell it as the car has this limp safe mode issues. We don't know how to fix it and we don't know where to bring the car anymore. The car can't be driven because it won't reach 80Kph and the ESP gets in everytime ...Read more

2014 Ranger Auto - new transmission needed at 60,000 km
Bought a 2014 4x4 Ranger 3.2 L auto, second hand from a reliable source, with 50,000 km on the clock, in April 2022. Has never been used for towing, but less than one year later after a 4000 km trip to Qld and back, the transmission died . The problem was a faulty torque converter and the mechanic's report: "failure of torque convertor is direct result of poor design". I thought I did my homework on this vehicle, but I didn't find anything about the torque converter at the time. If I had, I would have not bought the vehicle. I opted to have an upgrade on the re-build - $8,500. Please be aware of this issue if you are considering a Ford Ranger.

Built Ford Tough? Don’t think so-
I bought my 2015 Ranger brand new thinking it’s a Diesel engine and will last a life time. Boy was I wrong.
It now has 70,000km and the clutch peddle has fallen to the floor.

Ford Ranger engine issues
Regularly serviced XLT, taken great care of my car. I have had minor issues such as loose gear shift. But this is ridiculous, oil lamp lights up and on the way to the mechanic, 2 min drive away, I hear a thumping noise in the engine....
Mechanic tells me Ive done the engine.
Low oil pressure due to variable flow oil pump. Im finding out that this is a very common issue. A known defect that Consumer Affairs knows about and Ford Australia will not help due to vehicle being out of warranty...

Ford Ranger PX Auto FAILURE
I use my car for general commuting, highway driving, tarmac touring. Despite a perfect maintenance schedule, my Torque Converter imploded causing approximately $7000 damage to my automatic transmission. The vehicle has 150xxx km on it but in the grand scheme of the things that is not alot of km, especially when it has been maintained and not been offroad. I have had a case open with ford for 3 months (their customer service is a joke) and it looks like Ford will not come to the party for any out of warranty reimbursement (they offered 5 years,...Read more
100000 km back then). My research indicates that this is becoming a HUGE problem for the Ranger as more and more transmissions start failing as vehicles get just over that 100000 km range. If you call any transmission shop they will tell you to avoid the auto ranger and if you do want it, get a full upgrade/overhaul straight away (bigger and better everything). Noting Fords massive failure at making any decent auto transmission I will not be buying an auto Ford again. The Manual Ranger, from my experience is much better (probably why they used to 2016/17 used to offer 200000 km warranty on manual, and 100000 km on auto..... funny that). I have not heard if they have fixed it for the PX2 and PX3. I doubt it. I have had several other vehicle problems, notably factory headset, EGR blockage and brake booster failures (no brakes, at all, on road....). Besides everything above the Ranger has a good engine, chassis and suspension. Just DON'T BUY AN AUTO.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Buy Toyota.....
I bought a new Ranger in January 2013 from Ford Kalgoorlie, all went well until its first big trip on Gibb River Road in mid 2014. Wheel nuts sheared off and required replacements, instead of obliging me, Ford in Broome told me I needed a whole new rear axle and wheel assembly for the ball park figure of $5000. A trip to Supercheap auto fixed the issue with a new set of studs and nuts for $40.00 yes, forty dollars.
The next issue was at 40,000km when the gearbox bearings gave up in 2016. The warranty was two months expired however the gearbox i...Read more

why do ford sell these ford rangers knowing there are problems and when speaking to head service manager and head mechanic, I'm treated like the idiot cause the vehicle they sold us is a lemon and they refuse to change the items everyone has stated and because you not aloud in mechanic work area to see them change a part, they wash it say it is new and send you on way with old part .. maybe fair trading to look into this matter and then something may get done as it is reoccurring far to often and we supposed to be holiday ...Read more

2012 2.2L Ford Ranger PX - Transmission problems
Own a 2012 ford ranger PX 2.2L, started having problems with my gear box so booked it into Ford dealership. They said it was a control sensor selector, replaced that at $3200. Only just got our car out last week Friday from a Ford dealership and was told to drive around for a few days to allow for the new gear control selector to start to work and finds its place .....4 days later driving along at 100kms and transmission shifts down to first gear, wheels lock up, cars revs out and engine and traction control lights comes on. Straight back to ford dealership and was quoted for a new re- conditioned transmission at $6000. Not sure what’s happening but Ford need to own up. This is wrong.

FORD PX RANGER R.I.P. @ 74,511klms.
My Ford Capped Price Servicing Ford PX Ranger was bought new, to be my forever luxury vehicle, but, at a 39,600klm under warranty service at a Townsville Ford Dealership, it had issues with the manual clutch, that were ignored. Since early 2018 my Ford PX Ranger and many calls, emails to Ford Australia, has been at a standstill and undrivable at only 74,511klms on the clock. The Owners Manual 228page booklet supplied on purchase of a new Ford, has nothing but print and illustrations of the electronic plastic gadgets in the truck. There is not '...Read more
ONE' (1) page illustrating the motor or how to fix it. Not one! There isn't even any mechanical plan to show how to get to the mechanical parts within the motor for repair. Not one page helps the Truck owner to do a home repair to save money. Ford's Logo is "Ford goes further". I think this Ford automobile company needs a 'reality check.'Purchased in August 2021.

FORD RANGER XLT 2012 MODEL LOSES POWER WHEN TOWING
Has anybody had a problem where their Ranger loses power and goes into Limp Mode whilst towing, especially if the outside temperature is high. Mine is doing this now and I am on "An around Australia" loop up at Karratha. I have had it to Ford at Karratha; no fault codes come up, nor do any dash lights show up when it goes into Limp Mode

COG light
Daily commute as well as tow vehicle during holidays. During towing the amber COG light on dash came on on several occasions. Car is serviced regularly. (anywhere between 10k and 15k).
After taking car to several mechanics someone suggested I run another lead from the negative terminal to the engine block. Hey presto COG light no longer comes on. Has 105,000 klms on the clock.

Love my Ranger
With plenty of power to tow, comfortable seats and good fuel economy we are very happy with our 2014 Wildtrack..
we purchased it second hand with 112 thousand kms in the clock, and we have since travelled 36,000 kms including a 13, 500 trip to Darwin and North Qld.
It has not missed a beat

Limp mode
Only just over 100,000 kms and fully serviced and just turned 5 years old, I'm not to happy with my ranger . WHY you ask - From changing my water pump after losing coolant and going into limp mode twice ???? ( didn't over heat, straight to service and new water pump ) Then losing more coolant ( straight to service, pressure tested, hose clamp replace?????) still losing coolant ????? Went through 29-31 litres over 1800-2100 kms ?...then limp mode every 2-3 kms last week so straight to service centre 3 rd time back to ford service . They don't know what is wrong with it ???? It might drive great but not too happy with the ranger and the ford service company that I brought the car from

Great dual -cab
We sold our Hilux (petrol) and bought a 2012 Ranger 3.2TDi - the best move we ever made in terms of vehicles.
The Ranger out-performs the Hilux in every department. We tow a large boat on a bogey axle trailer from Sydney to the Central Coast on a regular basis. The Ranger tows the boat full of gear etc. with ease- rarely needing to drop down gears on some of the long climbs on the M1, whilst the Hilux was constantly changing gears on the same hills, at the same speed - usually around100kph.Fuel consumption is great - 20-25% better than the Hilux.
Very happy with the ride, equipment level and drivability- both on and off road.

Blown engine 3.2lt 130000km
Worst car I ever bought, had 130000km on it then all of a sudden black smoke and a blown motor.
I'm on the ranger club Facebook and see this as a regular occurrence.
If you're still thinking about getting one read all reviews on different sites before spending the $$$.
I'm up for over $8000 and that is a cheap fix.

Steering wheel disintegrating
No action from Ford after asking them to review the steering wheel that is peeling. I have never had a car with a steering wheel that disintergrates. It is definately not fit for purpose and is clearly a manufacturing fault. This should have been a product recall to rectify the problem

Best 4×4 have driven
i have had my ranger for three years now. i had a 2005 dual cab hilux 2lt turbo. it was so under powered with a full tank of diesel i could only get 350ks. my ranger is comfortable. it has great touque. handles the road great. it handles best with good quality all weather all torain tyres. its great on fuel economy. its quick of the mark. i found that if you put a snorkle on it. you get even more power and better power. by doing this i found that i went from nine litres per hundred kilometers to between 7.5 litrs and 9 ltrs per hundred ks. and...Read more
the engine runs cooler especially when towing a caravan. plenty of room. love the dual control climate as my partner likes it a bit warmer and i like it colded. saves on arguments. i feel like when i driven 500 kilometers. that seems like ive driven 100 kilometers. and still feel refreshed. even the dog luvs it lol. the prob i have i dont get to drive it enough. as im a truck driver. but when i do drive my ranger it still feels like i am driving a new car every time. i wont be getting rid of it anytime soon. i loved the fact that the ranger no matter what model it comes with the tow pack and side steps as standed. not like the toyota models where you have to pay extra. especiall when you are pay for a very exspensive model. how do i know was looking at getting the Sahara land cruiser at a 130 thousand dollars. you had to pay extra for a tow pack and side steps. the ford ranger was the only 4 wheel drive that came with these features standard.Similar opinion? Same, same amount of km as well only dearer to fix up north w.a. And that's only a short motor plus injectors which is the cause because they're meant to be replaced at 100000km.
Lucky I didn't sell my trusty troopy that's got triple the km
