It should be able to be re set. Maybe try turning off for 10 minutes at the powerpoint and then turning back on. Go into settings and see if you can get the English setting or ring Gaggia for advice

I cannot get my machine out of descale because the stage is not being recognized. Is there a way to manually get it out of the descale function?

Hi, You could try to trick the machine by going into the menu and starting a new descale, without adding the tablet or descale mixture? Turn the machine off at the power, wait ten minutes and turn back on? Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. The issue is that the machine does not see the milk carafe. When I got into diagnostics, I can get the carafe into both clean and brew ( carafe clean and carafe milk) but carafe present is not selected at all. I’ve cleaned the circuit. Without the machine knowing the carafe is present there appears to be no way to get it out of descale. There is no way to restart the cycle. I left it unplugged and dry for five days and when I plugged it in it when straight back to the descale. I cannot figure it out! There seems to be no way to trick the machine out of descale mode

My gaggia academia automatically goes to standby and switches off immediately after I turn it on. Can you please tell me why and how to fix it?

Try to turn it off at the powerpoint, wait ten minutes turn it back on and go into the settings mode to check the standby settings. There may also be a fault? I would also check the brew unit and trays are all clear and clean before turning on.

Hi there. Hmm, we're not entirely sure. Did you try and reset it by unplugging the Saeco and plugging it back in after a minimum of 10 seconds? Please feel free to reach out to our specialists, as we'll then be able to gather a bit more information to troubleshoot. You can give them a call on: 1300 363 391 (AU) or 0800 658 224 (NZ).

Hi, we have a Gaggia Accademia coffee machine and the top part of the arm has fallen apart as the plastic bits that hold it together have snapped off. Where can we buy a new part for this? Do we have to buy the full carafe? How much will it cost? We live in Adelaide.

I had one replaced under warranty. Ring Segafreddo Zanetti’s national enquiry number 1300 660 976. I found them very helpful.

Our milk carafe was faulty and we had it replaced under warranty at the store that we purchased it from and that also service our machine.

I've been having continual problems with the milk carafe on my accademia: it splutters and spatters for the first 10 seconds of every cup which is messy and very annoying. The arm of the carafe is now also starting to become very loose so I've been investigating buying a new one, but I live (and bought the machine) in the Middle East and the Gaggia representatives here say the milk carafe for this machine cannot be sourced (and this seems to be backed up by research online: I can buy a replacement for AUS$262 from Amazon!!!). It's been suggested to me that the Philips Saeco Thermal Milk Carafe RI9148/03 is a good alternative, but can anyone please confirm that this would indeed fit my gaggia accademia?

Hi I've had my milk carafe do the same spluttering. What I did was just keep putting it into the clean position (straight arm) and let the steam go through it a couple of times and it will clear itself. After every milk use you must put it into that clean position or it will cake up inside. Also you should pull it apart occasionally and wash it in clean hot water.
My carafe is starting to crack too and I think you are right about the Philips Saeco being an alternative as the whole machine looks very similar.
Worth trying.

Thanks for your replies. We clean the carafe both on the machine and manually every time we use it: there is no way it is dirty, I believe it is just poorly designed and manufactured (lots of people have the same problem if you look online). Our workaround has been to press the latte button and let just milk come through for few seconds (until it starts to splutter), then stop the milk flow and select whichever coffee drink we want. Annoying but it seems to work.

As the arm is now practically falling apart, I've found the saeco thermal milk carafe on offer on Amazon so have bought one in the hope it works with my machine. Very disappointing to spend so much money on a product only to find that parts of it are cheap plastic and either impossible or heinously expensive to replace!
