Try contacting HEMA. I thought it was standard they came with maps.

when my hema hn7 is set up in the ute and i turn the ignition key on, the unit activates and the hema logo appears and then fades away to a frosted white screen and the unit will not turn off or make other changes. when the vehicle ignition is cut off the unit turns itself off after a short time.

Don't ever buy a HEMA they are crap. Get a paper clip or similar and hold the reset button

Thanks gibbo. By the look of it they must have built in a 6 year auto destruct button.

Can anyone tell me why my HN7 has enormous difficulty in finding satelites?? I will often drive for half an hour without success, or it might get a fix in minutes. (very rare!) Even once found, it will drop out for no apparent reason, even on a bright, sunny day on an open, clear road??

Make sure the posistion of the unit has a clear view to the sky and is not shaded or covered by anything. Heavy foilage can also cut the gps signal, other than that, it should work ok if not I would take it back to place of purchase and get another one, it may be faulty!

Thanks, Jeff. This is a long story! I've done all that. The replacement worked perfectly for the first day & then all the same old problems reoccurred. Hema has pretty much told me it must be something in the car. But:
I'm using a new cable & cigarette lighter plug
I've not altered anything in the car (Pajero) & the old HN5 worked perfectly for years & the original HN7 worked well to start with.
I have altered the position on the windscreen over & over to see it makes any difference, but to no avail.
I mentioned that the problem (can't find a satellite) occurs randomly......NOT related to trees, cloud or buildings

Does anyone know if electrical/magnetic interference can cause interruption like this?? I've not put anything new/different on the car so I am dubious of this & I do not know how I would test this theory.
HELP!!!!!
