It’s comfortable
Use my car to drop kids at school and drove them to curricular activities. Very high fuel consumption.
The car itself is very comfortable and leather seats are great with kids. Plenty of room in the boot and in the back. Wish it had aircon in the back though for the kids.

Captiva crap
Bought the diesel turbo .all wheel drive.89,000km. 6 years old. Problem with smoke comming from under bonnet when it starts cleaning the particle filter. Told dealer when serviced but never seams to fix the problem. Replaced shock absorbers. Replaced tension pulley. Had oil leaks from pipe to turbo. Always been serviced regularly. Endless money pit. Stay away.

Disappointed
We bought our Holden Captiva Ltz brand new in 2014. Its used everyday for the school drop offs and pickups and grocery trips. It fits the 3 car seats in the back easily and it’s been a nice enough car to drive. It’s always been serviced on time and has only got 57, 000km on the clock.
The downside is the fuel economy. We average around 19l-20l per 100km, we get around 300-320km to a 65l tank. I have thought about going for a smaller car to do the school run but the car has depreciated so much I can’t justify losing the money when we paid $40...Read more

Run away
It has been nothing but trouble since purchase.
Transmission went at 40,000 kms and was replaced under warranty, it went again at 93,000 kms and replaced 2nd time out of warranty. After warranty expired the transmission went again and had to pay $7000 to have it replaced out of pocket. I am working with a group of other captiva owners to SUE Holden for selling a faulty product. Spent nearly $20,000 on repairs for this vehicle and it has only done 130,000 kms.

Pros and cons...
I bought my Captiva new in 2016. It drives nicely and the features like cruise control, reversing camera, fuel range and air conditioning are all great and easy to use, however the inside of the car has deteriorated significantly so that the door handles and glove box etc look about 20 years old! This is disappointing when looking to sell for a decent price. I’d recommend this car to drive and fit large families with plenty of room, but only if you don’t mind the interior deteriorating and if you’re not looking to sell it for a decent price.
Purchased in September 2021.

Amazing car to drive but.....
I have now had my 2014 Holden Haptiva 5 LT for a bit over 2 years now. I have originally bought this vehicle as my knees were not doing well and im a 6 foot 7 bigger bloke so getting into a low car is a no go for me. I was suprised at the room it had for the driver. My head did not hit the ceiling and my knee did not hot the steering wheel like it did in vehickes like the mitsubishi ASX, Nissan X-trail and even the nissan patrol so needless to say I was happy to find a cat that finally fit and was cheap. By far it has been the best car to drive...Read more
, it handles incredibly well, the air conditioning is amazing and it's incredibly comfortable for tall and bigger people. There has been some downfalls though, within the last 2 years I have had the left window motor stop working, the stereo stop working, altenator belt become loud, front bushings split and both front shock needed to be replaced. Keep in mind this car has only done 77,000kms to date. Thankfully as it was always serviced with Holden and they have noticed it was not right, they put in a request and got all of that fixed up under a special consideration warranty. The only issue I have with it now is that it's using 13L per 100kms (which is annoying as it's only a 4 cylinder). As a recap, amazing space for a large and tall driver, amazing to drive/handle, to many faulty parts and uses a lot of fuel. At this point thus is still a great car to me and plan to continue at as my ever day driver.Purchased in October 2021 at Jeep Dealers for A$14,999.00.

Fantastic Car Ever Driven!!! In Love
I love my Captiva LX. The car has done 98,000kms and still drives great. Have driven few luxury cars before but I am in love with Captiva. Smooth to run and steering is fantastic. I like the way it accelerates from slow to very fast once it is going. Although can be expensive with fuel. Mine is using Petrol. This car is for people with lots of extra money. If you cant afford for the maintenance then do not buy. The only problems with Captiva is the diesel and manual ones. Mine is auto and is doing a great job plus the sunroof makes it luxurious...Read more
. I would never get any car than Captiva anymore. I just love this car very spacious with real leather interior. If you are thinking of buying this car, I suggest go for Petrol not diesel. Every cars have issues even the very expensive cars. Cars need to be looked after too!Purchased at Holden Dealers.

Nothing but constant issues.
2010 Holden Captiva LX Diesel has been the worst car I have ever owned, never have I had to get into the car and wait for something to go wrong. The engine light was constantly on, engine overheating, oil leak on multiple occasions, air bag light fault. The aircon fan is useless in the heat and will not be realistic for families, no fans in the backseats or the rear seats. No car with 7 seats should not have vents in the back. The Diesel engine does not give you any more kms than a petrol car in the end it will just cost you more on fuel and it...Read more
is not very fuel efficient. Servicing is expensive and with a diesel car the timing belt will need to be changed every 90,000kms which will cost over $1,000. Apart from that its a great car... do yourself a favour and spend the extra money on a sante fe or a Kluger it will save you money in the long run and the resale value is double a Captiva.Similar opinion? Brand new car 2013
Dealership service terrible the literally broken something on my car every single time I’d pick up my car turn around take it back once I didn’t even get out of drive way.
Complained about losing power couldn’t fault it, told them making a noise couldn’t hear it, not driving normally cane back driving fine that how they drive,
Transmission failed luckily only 2 years old so it was replaced.
Then car felt like it was going to stall all the time, felt like engine was shaking I even said is it loose car running rough, ...Read more
they said it’s fine couldn’t fault it. Every month I’m calling same issue nothing we can do . Engine light starts coming on all sane issues take it in didn’t pull fault code we’ve reset it come back if it happens again a day later go back can’t fault it. This continues for years. Now it’s only 7 years old and it needs new engine timing chain has stretched. Do some research oh it’s a known fault usually u know because your car runs rough, engine light on, engine shakes, feels like it will stall oh and they did find metal shavings at one point said They didn’t know what that was. Now needs new engine and only thing they emailed to me won’t take my calls they said I serviced irregularly my fault the timing chain has stretched.Purchased in April 2021 at Holden Dealers.

Poor Holden Customer service & get lemon
Bought brand new Diesel Holden Captiva in 20111 Always serviced as per log book. only 93000 km after 8 years, always used in the local city no rough use and transfer case cracked and cost me 2000 dollars for a used one as could not afford brand new. Complained to Holden Motors to hear that I need to produce 8 years worth of invoices for service. Mind you my log book is complete. Very rude and no responsibility. I am complaining in Fair trading as well. I am lucky my transfer case didn't die on the freeway as I was about to get on the freeway b...Read more
efore it died. Worst car ever and worst company to deal with. My suggestion to everyone please please don't bother to buy any holden car. I paid close to 40000 dollars to buy a lemon. I was hoping to use my car for more than 200000 km but forced to buy another car and trade in this craptiva to save myself from further maintenance costs. Holden and General Motors need to take responsibility for faulty parts they are using in cars. Will never ever look at Holden.Purchased in March 2021.

Lemon Alert
Has anyone heard the saying you only spend your money once . Well i can relate to this . I bought my CG Captiva 2.4 Litre petrol brand new in June 2013 . Never missed a service and was always serviced on time . On December 28th 2018 after 5.6 years and the car had only completed 65k . I have been told that the car needs a replacement engine . Unfortunately this has occurred outside the warranty period of 5 years . After 22 years of car ownership this is the worst car i have experienced . Do not Buy second hand as most of these cars would have had engine and transmission replacements . This is a nasty piece of work . I will never EVER buy another Holden product again

I love this car
I'm the second owner of this car, 2009 Cg SX which is base model. Doesn't have mamy features but what it does have is very good Diesel engine. It's little bit slow on start but drivimg feels much better than many cars.
I'm getting 14l/100km.in city and it's okay for me
I know this car is absolute lemon because I've seen logbook invoices how much previous owner spent on this car but now everything is perfect for me

Total utter lemon - you have be warned
We bought a brand new Holden CRAP-tiva in 2012 - To date it has been back to the shop with multiple issues (mainly electrical) and now the transmission has crapped itself. Phoned up Holden going hello this is a regularly serviced car with you - Has 85k on the clock (for a diesel is still running the motor in)
Holden: We are sorry but you are no longer under warranty (We understand that BUT this car is regularly serviced with you and has continually been in your workshop with many issues in the past... Sorry but we can fix the car but that will...Read more

TERRIBLE, Regretful buy, worst car ever!
Bought brand new LEMON Captiva in June 2008. It was supposed to be the most luxury Captiva, paid $44,000 cash and traded Commodore Executive valued at $12,000, so all up $56,000. For that amount we thought that we will really get the top of the range as the salesperson promised, sunroof, side steps etc... however what we didn't know is he did not put that into detail in the contract and when we questioned it he simply said "BAD LUCK". What was worse was as soon as we drove the car out of the salon it did not show the right temperature outside, d...Read more
id not show the proper mileage and there was this terrible diesel fuel smell inside the car.Went back to the salon, promised it's a minor issue, went to the repairer numerous times over so many years, and they kept on promising it's fixed sending the car back in the same condition. AT ONE STAGE WHEN WE LEFT THE CAR FOR FEW DAYS AT DONCASTER REPAIR CENTRE THEY SWAPPED OUR GOOD TIRES WITH SOMEBODY ELSE'S VERY OLD TIRES WHERE YOU COULD SEE THE FABRIC COMING OUT OF THE TIRES and also our ABS BRAKES so it was already LESS of a HOLDEN !!!!! After wasting years at the repair centre, inhaling the diesel fumes while we drive, loss of fuel (driving only 350-400km in one tank!!!), then, it took years before we received a recall letter for Captivas 60th anniversary due to the faulty DIESEL pump and hose. They FINALLY admitted that there is a problem with 60th Anniversary cars!!! Half of the problem was fixed after the recall 10 years later after we bought it, the rest is still FAULTY!!!! THIS IS THE LAST TIME WE BUY HOLDEN!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!! I still suffer from LUNG problems due to inhaling of diesel fumes while driving in the car!!! Terrible repair service, terrible CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DODGY SALES PEOPLE!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Worst experience, ever high interest and so much money wasted on repairs, warranty fraud
Bad servicing of car, poor communication not honouring warranty, poor workmanship, really short life span on parts have paid over 2000 dollars in repairs, cigarette lighter in front never worked, rear suspension points worn out at 50.000kms also left arm on front has to be replaced at 50'000kms,, two new front tyres at 15'000 kms not tyre company's fault it was Holden s fault as they had told me in the service that they checked the wheel alignment and balance then 4 weeks later I'm buying new tyres
Please. Then also charge me 9 percent inte...Read more
