Great Car
Definitely one of the best cars I ever driven. Great handling, great engine and reliability.
Legroom and seats are the most comfortable I've ever experienced by far.
The dashboard could have looked better, but it's ok.
The paint is a bit too delicate and the chassis gets dented too easily.
I've never had a problem with the car and it's one of cheapest car in tis range to maintain.
I owned a Falcon and a Commodore VT before and they were already good car but this one is way better.

Comfortable cruising vehicle
Great car to drive easy to crusie long distance in an does on average 8-10 L per hundred.
However this 2013 has the same fuel economy as my old 1997 Falcon.. Which is surprising..
Its a commodore nothing fancy but still very comfortable and easy to drive and use.
Being the SV6Z it has the 19inch wheels. which i found rather noisy on the road

Good car, but quality a concern
Engine and the drive are still fine at 100,000km mark, but plastics are falling to bits. Panels are becoming lose and I notice much the same with other peoples VES2 wagon. Radio are also poor quality in these. I think its a hit and miss effort from holden, but then again they are leaving the Australian market and have been trying for years, so what do they care

convert
I have been a Ford man for as long as I can remember, my first being a 1948 Anglia.. Last year I bought a 2010 VE Berliner, Dual Fuel Holden, and can say I am now a convert to Holden now, Nothing before the VE though. It is great to drive, I get a weeks more use from a tank of gas than I did with my beloved Ford Fairmont.. I never thought I would buy other than Ford, but this car changed my mind..The deal I got from Jarvis ford, including their after sales service is one of the best deals I have ever had..and that is a great many.

The best ride. Feel the power
In regards to handling and performance, I would give 5/5. Eventhough I haven't done any modification yet, I am happy about the performance.
There is no wow factor in interior. I would like to see the dash board lights in a different colour other than red. However I like the fact that they have used black as the main color and the rough looking lether seats. Totally goes with a V8.But the seats are not comfy at all and I find it vey hard to sit more than 1 hr.
In addition, the touch display gives an extra value to the car. Everything is eas...Read more

Luxury, power and awesome to drive
Love my big sedan V8, plenty of room for the family, huge boot. The ssv is fully optioned, even sports leather seats. My Z series has the front brembo brakes (a must with a large car). Sunroof is a must to top it off. Is thirsty if your pushing it, otherwise not much difference to the V6 variant. Will be sad to see the end of the Australian built Holden commodore

Solid and strong
I've had my VE SSV series 1 for 7 years now, since new, and it's still going strong. I had always wanted a V8 for a bit of fun and noise, but knowing how they can drive made me want to buy one new, not second hand.
Driving the car is a very nice experience- not a great deal of road noise, comfortable seats, good visibility, and a heap of room. I'm a fairly tall guy (188cm) and i've got plenty of head room, and my seat isn't even all the way back. The steering is responsive, without feeling too light, and the brakes have a soft start at the top...Read more

Worst car I ever owned
I have now owned four Commodores and I can safely say I will NEVER own another. Just sold my VE Series II SV6 - had to basically "dump" it on the market because of the "epidemic" TIMING CHAIN STRETCH issue causing the check engine light to activate. Serious DESIGN FLAW, should have been picked up by Holden (and probably was), should have been recalled, but no they kept selling and selling these damn lemons!!! - Well its re-assuring to see their sales are finally dropping off - now we just have to get them out of the V8 Supercars - what a joke -...Read more
hope its death nell for the entire company because here is one VERY unhappy customer (and by all accounts on the internet I am nowhere near alone in this) who trusted Holden, who paid a premium for a sports car (over Ford price) and ended up losing thousands - so Holden could save a bit on a recall - Very untrustworthy company - un-Australian and a total shocker (wow - said all that and I didn't swear once!).Similar opinion? SV6 Ute
Love the shape, love driving it when it runs ok.
Manual Gearbox, feels like a road ranger out of an old truck, clunks, grinds and the clutch pedal gets stuck on the floor. Has developed a miss only at idle and causes it to run like crap.
Think twice before buying anything with a v6 alloytec engine!!!!!!!

I've always been a Holden man, specially the commodores, they're a vehicle that are large and spacio
Holdens are affordable, if you drive a V8 like mine the right way you can get the same or even better fuel economy than a V6 or you can even get great results compare it with the 4 cylinder vehicle, reliability is great from Holden and when the car has problems or it breaks down, the costs are so much less and cheaper to afford than say a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and can still have the same luxury as the more expensive cars.

So much better
I had an MY2012 Commodore Equipe sportwagon which I bought with just 50k kms on it, thinking it would a good unit to replace my VY series II wagon. I was never really happy with it, however, even though it did most things competently and comfortably. I owned it for just over 18 months, doing about 37K kms but my biggest two frustrations were throttle response and fuel efficiency. When cold it really seemed to struggle to get moving even though the power and torque figures were significantly better than the VY's.
I decided that I needed the 3....Read more

best car ever
best 3 litre car on the market. hasn't once let me down bought at 150,000 now at 300,000 and it has plenty more to give. plenty of boot space. easy to add additional extras tow-bar, roof-racks and electronic brakes. Car starts first time every time, it's not thirsty for a 6 cylinder and it has a great safety rating.

Driver's like a racing car
In my opinion, this model car, handles very well on the road. However work still needs to be done in other areas. Electrical problems are a major issue with cruise control and computer. Engine hydraulic mounts leak oil and need replacing too often. Oil consumption is a little extreme and needs to be checked all the time.

pity they're going
I must have an almost perfect engine- almost no oil consumption, plenty of power, purrs like a kitten, 200,000 km no major work on engine. My 4sp auto was replaced and the new one was never super smooth either. Apart from brake wear and tear i've had no other problem mechanically.
Blind spots due to roof pillars are a constant reason to be super careful just dangerous really.
Drivers seat comfort should be better. A BF2 wagon drives heaps better!
All in all a really good car with a few quirks to whinge about

A bit disappointed
Bought last year with 50K on it, our MY12 Equipe sportswagon with the 3.0 litre engine did at first prompt me to regret selling our previous, much appreciated '04 VYII Acclaim wagon. Nevertheless, after seriously considering going back to perhaps an '06 SVZ, I decided that the comfort and more modern features of the VE series II replacement made this an unrealistic option. I like the ride, handling and finish of the new car but was disappointed by the much smaller load space and the inferior driveability of the smaller engine. I recently discov...Read more
ered, however, that by using "Sports mode" (moving the gear lever to the first position to the left) the change points for each gear and the rev range it allows makes for a much smoother and responsive performance. It's as if the engine has been released to work at its optimum level rather than being constricted to low revs for economy's sake. Interestingly, I find that the fuel efficiency has not suffered at all. I may yet come to enjoy this car as much as I did the VY.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not a bad car, there are probable worse around.
I have had the VE for about 4 years now, brought it second hand. Was initially very pleased with it as I am classed as a Holden man. Had heaps of them over my life. Then little annoying things started to go wrong, lights in gear selectors blew, my main problem is the radio/CD player. A big problem with most of them the CD plays up. Nobody wants to fix them, Holden say to pull them out and send them somewhere in Melbourne, heaps of cash outlay, still not fixed and nowhere on the radio to take a memory stick. The tow bar started to rust, Holden ...Read more
fitted, other small minor problems and now I have a vibration when I put the air on. The car is regularly serviced, the motor goes great, plenty of power for pulling my boat, no other major problems, just getting sick of these ongoing little problems. Probably get something abit higher next time like a SUV as the windscreen area sweeps back and elderly people find it hard to bend down and back to get into it.Similar opinion? Reliable, Comfortable & Efficient
Purchased wagon in 2011 with 50,000k. Serviced per schedule and never a problem. Well engineered, quiet and comfortable. The 3.6 is smooth and refined, and is very efficient; particularly on highway. Plenty of room for the family and luggage on long trips, and a decent factory sound system for ambiance.

So I have a ve omega 08 model.
Today as I was driving the alternator warning come up on the dash followed by a battery warning msg. Soon after the dash lost all power and the radio went off the aircon went off but the car was running fine.
Pulled over and turned the car off and now won't start..
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance

Most likely the alternator belt has come off or broken. Car ran for a while on the battery alone, then shut down what isn't necessary. Once you shut the engine off, there was not enough battery charge to start it.
Now, does it crank? (I guess not).
I assume you are not still on the roadside broken down? If so, call NRMA or RAC or whoever.
Get a jump start from another battery or car or jump starter. Once it starts, check the dash for the battery light.
You will need to drive to the nearest garage, auto electrician of maybe Kmart auto. Any of these can check the belts, battery and alternator.
Thanks for the reply.was heading out with a trailer I'll try jumping it first .
