Will pull the skin off a rice pudding (Loudly)
Well Holden left the best to last having owned a few of these in the past the latest is certainly the greatest, but in saying this its not perfect the infotainment unit is buggy and lags worse than Steven Hawkins voice translator. The manual transmission isn't a fan of shifting into second when cold and the bloody chrome on the dash when the sun hits it is almost like having the sun join you in your eyeball for a second. But other than these tiny gripes it drive excellently, its smooth and comfortable has boat loads of torque (and im not talkin...Read more
g about your dads rusty old tinny, im talking big dirty old cray trawler kinds of power.) The exhaust sounds great with the valves open and the leather interior is well finished, sound system in the redline is very good and the sat nav voice command works much better than many of the other brand units I have tried, Drinks like that uncle that never gets invited around, but unlike him these things can handle getting hammered. A great car and I cant help thinking that had holden built another in Australia after this it could have been a real world beater. Pros Great sounding exhaust Good headlights Comfortable, smooth and reasonably quiet Boatloads of power (as covered earlier) Feels a solid build and very good sound system in redline Heaps of legroom Dashboard is well finished (bar the chrome, see below)Similar opinion? Wish my vf bombadore was a good one
Have a 3.6 Calais V 2014. 50000kms- cracked radiator. Needed. 60000kms-ecu problems needed new one. 75000kms steering rack was stuffed new one needed. Driving along and lost electric sterring. Love the shape of the car and all the stuff it has. But mine has been poor in the parts being used. To fancy seems to be more things go wrong. Holden have been good to replace the last two out of warranty. and the radiator in warranty. It has 79000kms now. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong and I can love me Calais again. Thanks heritage Holden Maitland nsw for getting all this sorted.

It’s over. No more bombadore. Transmission very rough and did not know what gear it wanted. Gave it a fully transmission service at 75000km. All services by Holden and on time. Have owned 19 cars in m... Read more
y time. by far the worst I have owned. Happy to say I have traded it in. 95000km so much went wrong and much more to come. feel sorry for the person that buys it from the car yard. RIP Holden. That was my last Holden.I have owned Holden’s, Fords, Subaru, Land Rover, Toyota’s, Suzuki’s, Mazda. I now have gone to a Kia. Never thought I would buy a Kia, 7year warranty and all that got me. Let’s see. Holden have been ... Read more
good to me by helping me out when things went wrong. So can’t complain about how they treat their customers. Owned a VP commodore. Not one thing went wrong, great car. This VF sure it can park it self ( never used it) but the electric steering system on it is s***. I’m sure I just got the lemon and some of them would be good. Maybe.Similar opinion? Great fun, last of a legend
The engine and sound really makes the ss redline. Great levels of technology for the price and age of the platform (though android auto would have been appreciated), it truely is the last of its kind.
Handling is great, lots of power, big comfy car, great brakes. Thirsty on fuel, especially if stuck in daily traffic, but you don't buy a car like this for fuel economy! I love it and will be keeping it for a long time.

Love my car
Handles good. Very nice to drive. Very roomy and comfortable. I didn’t like the chrome around the cup holders at it gives of a glare when the sun is shining on it. Other then that minor default I love my vf. I’d recommend taking one for a test drive. :)

Series 2 SSV REDLINE
White, manual, black roof with 20 inch factory allow rims.
Upgraded from a Suzuki Swift so the driving experience and build quality was 100% noticeable.
Unbelievable performance but of course it will cost you at the pump if you constantly put the pedal to the floor.
For such a large car handled very comfortable and precise when steering.
Of course you dont buy a V8 to be worried about the fuel cost but this is the only down fall of owning a beast like this but if thats the only disappointment, I can live with it. Worth every $$$ spent.

Never thought Id be driving a Commodore
So I traded my mistake car a 2016 Hilux Sr5 on a 2016 SSV Commodore, 2 completely different vehicles but after my Hilux mistake I wanted to buy a normal car again and the Commodore fitted the bill. Firstly the power of the V8 is impressive and effortless. The noise the car makes has me feeling like a 20 something again and the comfort level of the car is brilliant. It has everything you really need and compared to the pricier Hilux seems almost luxury. This car is a comfortable highway cruiser and funny enough gave me 1 litre per 100km better e...Read more
conomy than the 2.8 4 cylinder on the highway, in the city however the V8 is a thirsty beast so if you are one that does a lot of city driving every week think about your fuel bill before buying maybe consider the SV6. What I don't like about the car is the tiny side mirrors they are a pain when revering I find myself dipping the passenger side often, the reverse lights are not bright enough (easy fix) and the Holden mylink is just average. What I love is the head up display which works great, massive boot, comfortable seats and plenty of room in the back for the kids. Before the Hilux I had a Kluger Grande and I still rate this as the best car I have ever owned but the SSV is a different beast and one that puts a smile on my face. I always change my vehicles on average every 4 years, if this remains reliable I might keep it a bit longer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Loving my car
I bought my VF from Melbourne Cheapest Cars. I was originally going for an XR6 but fell in love with the VF and the feel of driving it. Extremely smooth and much less noisier than the XR6. I was gobsmacked at the standard features in this car. Love it and wouldn't trade it for any other car. A must to test drive.

VF2 SSV Redline
Last of the batch SSV redline September 2017 is an awesome car. I have had this car for about a month now and the whole package really is world class so its a great shame that these are the last aussie built muscle cars. From the tight suspension to the super quick V8 with smooth automatic and the comfy and roomy interior and not to forget the 7 year 175 000km factory warranty that was a big bonus.

A great car
A great family car with loads of leg room and a large boot. The dashboard is easy to see and clear. Very quick to accelerate and good braking. The car looks very sporty and has parking assist. Petrol economy is average but seems better on long journeys on the open road or highway. Overall an excellent car.

VF International
Purchased as a dealer demo vehicle. Great driving experience, very comfortable, handles everything well. Very quiet. Love the button handbrake (took me a little bit to trust it but looks so much sleeker than having the handle). Looks great, love the leather seats, very fuel efficient sits on about average 7.5L per 100kms. Love the side mirror sensors for blind spot. Big boot, spacious interior. I actually don't have any complaints. The yard we bought it from is another story but the car itself is great!

Fantastic car with great features
Car Ian fantastic to drive. Quiet and not minimal road noise
Plenty of room for the whole family and a very comfy interior even on a more basic model.
Base sound system also doesn't disappoint.
Drove away with the family with a full car and was averaging 6L/100km for fuel consumption. An excellent result.
Such a shame it's not continuing to be produced

Love it
As someone who has never owned anything with more than 4 cylinders, or front wheel drive for that matter, this car was a breath of fresh air.
The power delivery is out of this world, and the feeling of being pushed forward instead of pulled was a huge change for me.
The interior is much better than I expected. The first time I got into one of these I was expecting cheap plastics and rattling, but this car is as sophisticated as a Greek philosopher on the inside. Beautiful leather and fabric trim, and a dashboard to die for.

ncern I have with the car is the transmission. It doesnt seem to be able to handle the copious amount of power flying out of the engine, and is a bit laggy. Petrol consumption is relatively average, landing on that magical 8.3 L/100 km is as impossible as fitting your key through your house door after a big night out. I'm getting somewhere between 500 and 600 kms from a 70 L tank, but I'm a bit more of an aggressive driver than your average Joe.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A beautiful car
This vehicle is definitely built not only for comfort it is built for style! This vehicle has the capability to 'park' itself with the touch of a button. It has zoned climate control and has Bluetooth connectivity. I love my Holden, it stands out in the crowd! The power is under the bonnet yet you barely hear the engine running when in town and the automatic parking button allows you to 'park' in parks you would usually avoid if you are not confident in parallel or reverse parking.

Best commode by far
I have owned both series one VF ssv commode and now series 2 ssv redline I. Find the series 2 an excellent vehicle from the ride and handling to the comfort every thing about this model is a far superior vehicle, the power from the 6.2 v8 is awesome and the 6 speed manual is very ezy to use, all the controls inside the cab is in ezy reach from the climate control to the use of the power windows, if there are any draw backs I would say the fuel consumption around town is a bit heavy to 14.3kph to 100kph but I must say fuel consumption on a long ...Read more
trip I recently took a trip to Port Macquarie from the northern end of the nsw central coast I managed 11.2kph to 100 kph which I think is quite good for small block v8 the beautiful burbling from the v8 disappeared when you go over 80 klms but when around town it is like a classical Quartet playing in the back ground, and there's plenty of leg room in the front and plenty in the rear, the seats in the front are very comfortable but to be expected, at night the projector head lights light the road up beautifully and the soft blue ambient light from the front door handles and centre console are a lovely touch what a shame this is the last of the Aussie v8 I'm just glad I have the privilege to own one.Similar opinion? Shows that they are closing up shop
Car is really good however a few idiosyncrasies let it down.
GPS - even with an update to the latest data (released 4 weeks after purchase) it still is missing data for estates that are over 7-yrs old. Additionally it doesn't have complete speed data for roads that are over 25-yrs old. This results in the system suggesting routes that are considerably longer and slower. It really irks me that my wife's 2-yr old 'imported Captiva' maps are more accurate that a home grown item. Holden's solution, have a $250 giftcard to buy a stand-alone unit....Read more
Auto-lights - Somebody had a bright idea to change the sensor that measure the ambient light to a unit that is not adjustable. The result is that the system will consider that you are driving in the dark and need your headlights on if the sensor gets a slight shadow over it, ie driving with sun behind you, even at 2 in the afternoon. Yes you can turn the auto function off which brings the Daytime running lights back on, HOWEVER it doesn't return the interior dash lighting to it's day intensity. If you like having the dash lights down dim at night, this results in the loss of your main warning panel and console display panel. If you are using the GPS, it puts it into night mode. Holden's suggested fix, turn the dash lights up and go into the menu and selected Navigation to always be in Day mode. Then at night time, change it all back again to how you want it. On the positive side, it has plenty of poke and the HUD makes for some fun driving, seeing what G-forces you can bring up through corners. I can run it to work and back at 8.5 - 9.5 L/100k and have taken it on a long trip yet to see how low it can go.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car for money these days
I bought my car in october. It is ss model with v8 engine. The interior is much better quality and feel than the previous model and it has heap of power. It does use lots of petrol around town but that is managable on highway. Great family car with tons of boot space

Occasionally If I do a long trip on a hot day the fuel gauge stops working. The next day after a trip the fuel gauge works normally. Holden put the scanner on the car and the gauge corrected itself. can you please provide a possible explanation or is this a known problem. My car is a 2014 SV6 with only 70,000 kilometres.
