ford fan converted to holden sv6
Very impressed with the 2015 VF SV6 so far.Only had this car for 5weeks.Goes well love the interior and it doesn't look cheap like the ford.Being a tall person in a little bit iffy on where keys go to start car.The best fuel economy I have had so far would be around 9 litres per 100kms. Car looks good goes well never thought I would ever own a Holden luv it.

VF Redline 2015
I own a manual vf redline 2015 and it's an unreliable vehicle. Had the same issue 4 times this year - unable to reverse or get the gear to shift in reverse. Took it to holden service centre they said it was fixed, guess what - not fixed. Twice it was amended by NRMA road side assistance (vehicle was pushed out from the garage onto the road driven by NRMA road side personnel = temporary fix). 3rd time NRMA sent a tow truck for the vehicle to be delivered to holden service centre. They kept the car for 1 week+ and stated problem has been resolved...Read more
. 4th time as of today took it back to holden to get it checked out. As a customer of Holden for future buyers/purchasers, don't spend money on any holdens, their vehicle are not the same anymore and definitely unreliable.

Found a great boot mat for my baby
My loving wife likes gardening and prefers to use MY CAR because it has a bigger boot?
My mate put me on to booter boot liners and I got an exact fitting mat with edges on it that catches all the dirt from her plants.
She then bought one for HER CAR and now the smaller boot is quite sufficient?
Moral of the story, the boot linings are great and the guys are very helpful! And I don't have to clean dirt out of my baby any more.

VF Calais V good but a few issues.
Climate control has major issues 20 - 25c randomly calls on full cooling or heating. Intermittently the display screen will blink on & off. On 2 occasions it has required a restart to get the screen on again.
Heated seats to not work at all with remote start function.
Apart from these issues petrol consumption is approximately 9/100 km, very quiet motor & smooth auto change with great pickup.

Interesting development. Just after the warranty period finished I started getting power steering failures. But the issue corrects when the car is restarted.
I took it to Holden & was told that they ... Read more

VF Calais V is pretty special!
Only my second Holden out of 30 cars (in 38 years) Glad I waited until they really got their act together. It is not perfect, but it is close (and great value for money)
Favourite bits: HUD (heads up display - Speedo and other info projected onto windscreen), plus classy and comfortable interior and big shiny 19 inch wheels.
Not so good: Radar Cruise control would have been nice. Big wheels married to low profile tyres generate extra road noise on course Tassie bitumen roads. Getting close to 9.0 L/100km economy average as advertised, bu...Read more
t still a shock after owning a diesel and two hybrid cars before the Calais. Finish is good, but not perfect. I got a special deal with 5 years 130,000 km warranty and 3 years free servicing (so that made the deal even sweeter) Done over 24,000 Kms in first 10 months without any warranty issues. Perfect apart from fuel economy (6.2L)
While mine is an HSV, let's be honest, it's just a commodore with glitter on it. I do love the car though, quality and equipment is equal to similarly priced Euro cars, but with performance they can't match at this price point (unless you buy a small hatch).
I'm most impressed by how well this car handles, as its not the lightest thing around at close to 1800kgs. It does corner well and encourages spirited driving. Straight line performance is good as you'd expect. Peak power is just before redline so you do have to keep the revs up, and for a...Read more

Awesome Beast
Purchased the car brand new in 2013 - which was a treat in itself - with no pushy salesmen or after sales options. All personalisation/customisation was carried out with perfection.
Since purchase it has been highly reliable and has been regularly serviced with fixed prices. Yes, it has had a few recalls, but not a single one had any ill-bearing on my vehicle and all were carried out flawlessly at the next scheduled service.
The thing is a gentle giant - the fact that I can get an average of 12L/100 (city) from a 6 litre V8 is testament to the vast improvements GM made in these final years of the Commodore. Love the tech - Heads-Up-Display, Satelite Navigation, Sport mode, Launch Control, Auto Park, Connectivity....

SV6 VF against VE
Goes well for what it is but miss a decent exhaust note of the VE.. Couple of annoying points on the VF ignition key hard to find and with all the lights and gizmos in this car surely Mr Holden could have put a light around the key barrel?? alarm goes off when keys are in your pocket due to the panic button being too easy to set off.Fuel pump noisy . .All in all great car so far 14k and runs sweet and eats the open road.

Converted buyer!
We bought a SS V last July. This is probably our sixth or seventh brand new car. I have to say, it's the most enjoyable car we have owned in 30 years. 15,000kms later. Not one drama, heaps of technology to rival euro trash, great handling, plenty of grunt. Many "little things" in the build, have been thought of, that make a huge difference. Build quality vastly improved, compared to VE. Holdens have finally got it right, now they are pulling out of Oz??? ...I have been a Ford man at heart for decades, but this VF is a damn fine car so far.

Well made car 2014 SSV Redline
I've just purchased a 2014 SSV Redline so far so good. After owning a few Commodores I can say that the VF is finally up there with more expensive brands... Is it perfect? NO but what is. Great handling good power solid build, nice features and gadgets... Very Happy so far.

Great car, but far from perfect
Similar to the previous review, this is a great car to drive. I have the V8, which is fantastic. There's a million gadgets, and the surprisingly useful auto-parking trick.
However, electronic glitches with the radio and A/C, plus general finishing with stitching in the seats are more frustrating than they should be. I think it's so frustrating because it's the top commodore, so you'd think they'd get it right, but also frustrates because it could be such a perfect car if it all worked properly.
Main gripes are no auto-dimming rear view mirr...Read more

VF SV6 MY14 - Great Aussie Value
The VF SV6 represents high level of value. Starting off, you get the Holden IQ System which is seamless to use, automatic parking (common it's pretty cool how it works), 5 star ANCAP safety rating and plenty of standard features such as reverse camera, park sensors, partial leather and blind spot alert. Under the skin, your getting the same drive-train and engine from the VE model which is powered by the 210kw 3.6L V6 SIDI and 6 Speed Auto. However it has been slightly re-calibrated for smoother delivery. What I've noticed when driving the car ...Read more
was the lack of torque down low. However when you plant the foot, its does really go. The 3.6L prefers the higher revs to get its power. The 6 Speed Auto is smooth with no complaints. For all this, you get the features, rear wheel drive and a punchy V6 for under 40k (without options).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nice to drive, shame about the glitches!
I have been driving this car since October 2013, the car itself is lovely to drive, very comfortable and is not too thirsty on petrol providing you drive sensibly. However I have been having an ongoing problem with random malfunctions for example: Bluetooth does not work, keeps losing it settings, when you turn the car on or off it will switch between the radio and usb, the shuffle function on the usb turns itself on and off, the car will change the temperature settings from what was previously set. I have had the car in twice about this and h...Read more
ave been told I just have to be patient until they get the updates done that will fix all of these glitches, I have now owned this car for 9 months and there have been NO updates, it is really not good enough Holden! The next problem is trying to get snow chains for this car, almost impossible, due to the oversize tyres, which may look good but clearly if you want to go skiing are not practical, but yet Holden sells ski attachments for this car?? The Holden roof bars are not Thule so if you are into skiing or any other sport that you need roof racks for consider getting aftermarket bars put on as the Holden ones have a very distinct bow in them which makes it difficult to fit attachments. The side mirrors should be a lot larger than they are, my last car had mirrors a lot larger in size than the ones on the Calais V, the small mirrors makes it more difficult to see traffic in other lanes. There are no guiding lines on the reversing camera, something which is on the most basic of cars but on this quite expensive car they do not exist, the reversing cameras gives a very distorted view of the carpark you are trying to back into, very disappointing. The lighting in the rear of the wagon is very poor having the light on the side means if you have luggage in the back you can't see anything, one good thing about the rear is that the hinges for the tailgate mean that you can open it even in a very tight situation, eg near a wall. The GPS does not work well in the centre of Sydney but is ok if they are not a lot of tall buildings around. The HUD (heads up display) is great. So in conclusion this is a lovely car to drive its a pity that Holden don't refine everything before they release a car as at the moment I would not recommend this car to anyone as the glitches are extremely frustrating. Comfortable to drive Side mirrors, electronic glitches, ability to buy snowchains, Holden Roofbars have a large bow in them.1 comment

2013 VF Holden Commodore SV6 Fantastic.
Had this car 8 months and have done 20k in it and we love it! The interior is so many steps above the old model, its tight and well built with no rattles yet. The features are fantastic, reverse camera, remote start and all the safety features make it a well equipped car. Performance is surprisingly good and we have never wanted for more speed while doing it all for 7,8 to 8.2 ltrs per hundred kays on the open road.
The only gripe we have is with the heater- if you have it directed at the windscreen the air vents at the front will still blow f...Read more

ere as well. Service in new zealand at our local dealership is terrible, they are rude and incompetent and tried for several months to charge us for a service even though our first three services were free as part of the deal we got. I'm not sure if this is the same at other holden service centres. The positive parts of the car are still going well including great power and handling.Similar opinion? Are timing chains still an issue in the sv6 my17 series 2 sedans? As mine arrives next week. It has only done 34,000 km. And how much do they cost currently to repair if need be?
2 answers
Cost depends on who does the job Holden dealers. Lube mobile. My car ( kmart tyre & auto) ultra tune. will charge 10 times more than a local independent mechanic Yes timing chains are still an issue some are failing at 50,000 km
Timing chains are *not* an issue in VF Commodores as they were in the VZ-series, where a faulty batch was mixed up with the correct chains, thus causing elongation and stretch, typically around 50,000 to 70,000km. The VF (SIDI DI) chain metrics are similar and same number of chains, but do not have faults. They should easily last the life of the engine without changing, provided service intervals are adhered to. Where VZ chains required replacement, it was a $3,000 job and 2.5 days.

Occasionally If I do a long trip on a hot day the fuel gauge stops working. The next day after a trip the fuel gauge works normally. Holden put the scanner on the car and the gauge corrected itself. can you please provide a possible explanation or is this a known problem. My car is a 2014 SV6 with only 70,000 kilometres.
