I have an vz sv6 with the 6speed manual, i have found the car tobe faultless exept for it needed a clutch at 35000km, i was finding that it was always very laggy anywhere from 1000 to 2500 rpm i made a few enquireys and had the car tuned i got a extra 45kw and power now from 1500 rpm, it also improved the fuel eco does anywhere from 5.8 to 6.5 lt to the 100km on the highway
Overall the now is perfect
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 SV6. Good power good fuel ecomeny
Bit slow down in the rev range

Terrible
NEVER buy LPG version, stick to petrol only for a good car. Poor dealership service ie car returned to dealer for engine misfire 6 times and not resolved.
Falcon for me soon!
Handling,comfort and ride.
Factory LPG system totally unreliable, with constant warranty returns and issues never resolved.

This is a comfortable cruising car but lacks quality. Don't be fooled in buying an Australian car. I will be purchasing a Toyota next time round.
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 Acclaim Wagon.
Spacious and smooth on long trips
The quality is not very good! All the doors leak closest to the roof in heavy rain & have done so since new despite numerious warranty attempts to fix it.
Sometimes the electric windows stop working & the front door locks have been replaced after 3 years.

Overall, this is a good average family car with some extra toys (looks, power, semi-auto transmission, limited slip diff) It is good value for money but I would question the reliability of parts. I would definitely look at what the competitors are offering.
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 SV6. The 5 speed Semi-Auto transmission is the best auto Holden have ever used. Gear changes are effortless and smooth. The 190KW Alloytech has good power, revving to approx 7500 rpms, overtaking is a breeze. The styling is great. Nothing is over the top but ...Read more

I bought the car in 2006 and so far I have put 49000kms on the clock. Its a very enjoyable car to drive, it has enough power for you to loose your licence in a tick even though its not as fast as its big brother, the V8 SS. It looks handsome as its equipped with the same bodykits as the SS.
I havent had a mechanical probs so far with this car apart from some electrical glitches. I have had rear power window switched replaced, gear selector bulb changed, central locking and door locks inspected a couple of times as the door locks would not ful...Read more

Overall it's an OK car, has had some problems but still enjoyable to drive. Take note of dislikes above before or when buying!
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 SV6. Low Revs on Highway with 6 spd manual (about 2000rpm @ 115kmph in 6th), looks good, handles very well.
Scrubs tyres (especially on front no matter how much you align wheels), manual gearbox bearings very noisy when in neutral and foot off clutch, a lot of vibration through clutch, drivers seat foam keeps falling apart (BEWARE!), oxygen sensor on left hand side of block failed when 6...Read more

great car, had a couple problems once fixed great, very quiet.
my car has full electric includind rear windows cruise and remote sunroof.
very quick as standard .compare SV8 vy 235kw supprised it preformed quicker than the six lt ss off the lights thats something to say, if you put sports system gain extrs 22kw which would bring the car to 257kw
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 SV8. reliabity performance mine is holden by design . fuel in 5.7 quiet good
think for a SV8 holden should of had fron spots in it as they have places for them in the vx s pac

The SV6 is a fantastic car, has achieved all of my expectations. This car provides the driving pleasure of a sports with the practicality of a family sedan with enough torque for towing and the ability to overtake at will on the open road.
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 SV6. Good fuel economy I got 7.91 ltr/km on last interstate trip, great handling and power with 6 speed manual.
Rear tyre wear, due to factory specs. (This can be rectified by wheel alignment). Slight engine noise.

I've had my Acclaim for 4 years now, and it's done the job. It's still the most spacious 'car' around, but it isn't as well built as I'd like. It also devalues far too quickly - mainly due to the huge fleet market out there. Now the kids are bigger, I'd definitely go for something else.
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 Acclaim Wagon.. BIIIIG inside and perfect for a family with a lot of gear. The only non-4WD that would take 3 child seats side-by-side across the back.
Bits fall off. Creaks & groans. Resale value

With these big cars you pay a premium, like insurance, You pay the higher running costs because one day you are going to want to enjoy the extra power, the extra comfort, the extra space. Just like the insurance you pay because one day you will have to make a claim, so one day you will make a claim to use the extra things a big car can provide. You can buy a smaller car and then you might have to buy or borrow or hire a trailer to compensate for you lost load capacity. You may have to hire a larger car to carry extra stuff because you don't wan...Read more
t to pay the large car 'Premium'. But a small car will never ride the same as a bigger one . For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 Executive Wagon. They're just a good big strong car . Load carrying capacity is great, especially when you have a growing family. Comfort on a long trip is superb, the long wide chassis soaks up the bumps and the cabin is well insulated from road noise.Highway driving returns good fuel economy. The power from the V6 is great for overtaking or hills, even fully loaded. Fuel consumption around town. It feels really BIG and heavy around town and it feels lazy in stop /start traffic. Holden reliability isn't what it used to be e.g. faulty fuel pumps, radiator, heater control just to name a few, nothing major, just niggling little faults that can still stuff your day/week and ground you.Similar opinion? The car is comfortable to drive, and makes little road noise. I love driving the wagon, especially as the back area comes in handy when making big purchases.
For Holden Commodore 2004 - 2006 Executive Wagon.
I love the amount of stuff you can fit into the back cargo area, also the fact that there is so much space in the back seat area. The interior is easy to clean, and and it is comfortable to drive.
I wish that the electric windows were on the drivers door, and not in the middle. I find that I am always trying to get to the window button, and something is always sitting on top of it. Also, can be a little thirsty on the petrol around town.

We love this car. It has never missed a beat and has been so reliable for us. We do a bit of towing with it as well and it's handled it all with flying colours!
Very comfortable car to drive. Excellent acceleration, no sqeaks or rattles in our car which has just clicked over 106,000klms. Extremely good value for money.
We own the executive and would have liked power windows in the back, minor detail though.

I have this car for two years and i am still happy with it. I am in no hurry to trade or sell this car. I highly reccomend this vehicle to anyone seeking to buy a holden. Plus as the brand new models come out you are likely to be in style for a few years yet.
This car looks good on the outside for starters. The inside is terrific. I have seen many and had a couple. To me this is the best commodore. It is easy to drive and to work out the controls. It is smooth and has loads of power.
Some of the warnings come to early and the locks tend stick.

I changed battery and now have low idle, nearly stalls and reverset has no power. It is a ss with Ls1.

Hi Mick, I read that you're having problems with your Holden Commodore VZ particularly with the "low idle, stall" which could likely be a computer problem (mix up) after you've "changed the battery", (I'm wondering if your vehicle is coded with a 4 digit number? and is the main centre screen on dash showing any message asking for the code?) Or it could be your computer may need to be remapped (tune) and if you've tried that and it hasn't worked, maybe your car needs to "relearn the idle"and best advice is to take it to a trusted Holden dealer.
