While not a powerful car (really rumbled going up steep hills!), my viva was the best car I've driven. It offered an uncomplicated driving experience, combined with all the comforts you could ask for in its class. Smooth and reliable. Easy, affordable care. Big storage and a good stock radio/stereo system. It's perfect for small families and I would really recommend it to anyone with a modest budget.
Purchased the Viva 06 as a second car, Now it's the main car and love it. I drive a lot and no problem.
Some people, like with all cars owners, there are some weaknesses. Yes I had a coil problem, $40.00 from the wreckers and 20 minutes later. Yeehaa, go's like a rocket. Nice car to drive. Looks fantastic.
Had nothing but trouble with this car ever since I got it. First the driver side window stopped working then the back right hand one, got a new retractor motor put in driver side $600 dollars, parts are hard to find and had to send away retractor to get fixed. Still need other window fixed. The handle on passenger side snapped off out of nowhere got that replaced. The engine makes alot of ticking noise when driving and in idle aswell Idk if this is normal but it's pretty loud. I've had a timing belt replaced slot earlier. Another problem I'm ha...
Read moreving is the ABS danger light keeps popping up I've had it reset and replaced one sensor and it still pops up sometimes when I'm driving. The worst problem was when I had to replace the whole aircon compressor, which was 1500 !!!! The comprassor broke. And I still have 7000 owing on my loan. Can't wait till I can get a new car. Big boot. ABS signal, expensive parts because had to get sent away, cheap parts ib the interior.I also have a 2008 and am having heaps of trouble with transmission (auto). Often clunks into reverse and then engine light comes on and drives like a golf buggy for a few kilometres and then feels li...
Read moreke it is taking off in 5th gear, this will normally last for about 20 klm and then it rights itself. Have also found that if you put premium petrol in it the car won't start in the mornings.I also hear the constant ticking noise both when driving and idling. The aircon switch isn't working (won't stay in) and it will cost minimum $190 cos the whole dash has to be pulled out so a piece of cardboard jamming it on works well for now. Tyres wear unevenly Not happy with this car and also can't wait to get rid of it. If anyone else has had the transmission problem, Please let me know ???I have a manual but when I change gears it gets stuck a lot. I'm looking at a new Kia rio. Five years factory warranty is pretty good
Good car, runs always, all variants of the viva are powered by an economical and reliable 1.8 litre DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine that produces peak power of 89kW at 5800 rpm and peak torque of 169Nm at 2600rpm that is sufficient to get around smoothly and cheaply
Great little car would recommend!

Overall, this is agreat little car! I drive a mix of both Country and city kms, and it performs very well. I have a small family, and there is plenty of Room for everything we need to go away for a couple of weeks. It has a good towing capacity (1200kg braked) meaning that when I want to go camping, I can fit all my gear. The handling is good, though a little light in the front, but this could be rectified with better tyres. The interior is comfortable and has enough gadgets for this price range. Speaking of price, it is good value when compared to say a Mazda 3 which is at least 3grand more. The wagon would have been great to buy, but there was a long waiting list.
