There are lots of retractables on the market, maybe I should have read there reviews here before I bought mine.
taking it out of the box I noticed a bad kink in the hose length to the Tap, I was hoping for a hose that didn't kink.
Then when I came to mount it, I discovered it needed a 10mm Masonry Bit. I have several DIY drill sets with Wood, metal and masonry bit, but all sets only go to 8mm. It would have been handy to have a sticker or something on the Box (near the Contents Sticker) drawing my attention to this. It's 29 Kms to my local Bunnings, so looks like a job for next weekend.

Got this from Bunnings. Never again! Did not really retract very well from day 1. Silly me did not return it. A few years on it was leaking from inside. Recently I tried to fix it. It was very awkward. In doing so the rewind mechanism stopped working. Only 1 year warranty. I wonder why?

My sister and I bought the 20m retractable hose reel for Mum’s birthday last year and she loves it. Knowing nothing about hoses or retractable mechanisms myself, we went with the Holman model after overhearing one of their staff members talking about the product with another customer in Bunnings. Mum’s now asked us to get her the 10m version for her front balcony. Thanks Holman for making the last couple of gift buying years so easy!

Brake failed within 12 months.. very annoying as I know have to play tug-o-war with it around the yard.. it also use to retract so ‘well’ that the unit bounced up and down - maybe this is what caused the brake to fail?! I bought it at Bunnings 12 months ago but have misplaced the receipt.. wonder if Holman can track its serial number for warranty?..otherwise I will prob spend the extra and buy a better rated brand...

I bought a 20m Holman retractable hose reel for my backyard over three years ago. Shortly after I got another 30m for the front since I really like the way the Holman works. Easy to pull out and stop the hose. I do turn the tap off when retracting the hose back in the housing and release the pressure. Holman has some good videos on their website showing how to take care of your products plus it's an Australian brand.

Bought this expensive hose reel thinking it would be good. Bad mistake. Has lasted almost 3.5 years and now won't retract. Phoned Holman and was advised it can't be fixed. They are made to be disposable. For the price I paid I could get 3 cheapies, which I will in future. Very disappointed as they are an Australian company but less than Chinese standard. Never again will I purchase anything made by Holman. This is not my first bad experience with this company, but have learnt now.

We’re us8ng this reel only occasionally, and despite this low to moderate use the brake has died within 12 months. The whole product is made from rather cheap, soft plastic. I will not buy this brand again. While these are cheap at bunnings, you unfortunately get what you pay for: cheap junk in this case.

Wow is this product dreadful... Broke within 2 weeks. Doesn't retract... Gun detaches... Is already leaking...
Received it as a present, so have no receipt and no chance of getting a refund. How they can charge so much for such a terrible product is beyond me... Do yourself a favour and buy the one that is half the cost - it couldn't be worse

I bought 2 of these units and both broke within 12 months. Absolutely terrible quality units, would not recommend anything Holman to anybody.

Save your money and buy another brand. One that is reliable and doesn’t break straight away. I’ve found that most Holman products are of cheap quality.

Hose will not pull out or retract, only purchased in June, now summer and want to use a product but it is useless batch 1641, purchased from Bunnings. I would have expected that the life span would much longer, but reading the other reviews there appears to be a problem

Great great Product, easy to use, at a great price. 20 metres is perfect size for me and I didn't find it too bulky as I thought initially it would be...I couldn't be happier with the quality. I needed to buy proper bolts but not a big deal as I love the product.

We purchased 3 Holman hoses from Bunnings over the last few years - can't remember exactly when and no longer have the receipts. Two of the 3 have stopped retracting within the last year. Very disappointed, especially as the units were not cheap and all have been mounted to walls which was a lot of effort to do. Now we're looking at removing them which will mean unsightly holes in the brickwork... very disappointing indeed!

My son and I bought two 20mt units at $120.00 each from Bunnings, had nothing but trouble, it would work ok for a couple of weeks then it would not retract or the self winder would jam. We never did decided to take it back because it would come good and then we would forget about it

I bought the 20m Holman retractable at bunnings as it was on special from $120 approx, to $97. I used it once and returned it the next day. The hose inside is very thin and had some hard kinks that could not be straightened. The hose attachment is weak and very small. The tap and hose attachments are made of weak plastic, you'd think for the price they could at least throw in a steel and sturdy one. The bracket to mount onto your brick wall etc is pathetically weak plastic, clearly unable to hold the weight of their product. It snapped off and ...

lasted 5 years, hose still in excellent condition, case and retraction mechanism however are a piece of garbage, Cheaply made designed to be not easily repairable. Hose will be removed, case will be binned, retraction mechanism has failed, drive belt came off reel gear, hose got caught between reel and case upon retracting, and wrapped around gear between reel and case. Have just pulled apart (not an easy task) enough to recover hose.. Whole thing will be replaced. What a waste. Unfortunately I do not know of new auto retractable reels with no hose attached. The replacement auto reel will NOT BE A HOLMAN.

I'm on my second Holman unit and this one has failed within 12 months as well. The hose on the first unit was of such poor quality that it became hard and brittle and then cracked. The winding mechanism on both units stopped retracting and they would only then allow the hose to go one way - out - until the hoses were fully extended. Looking at the number of negative reviews I really think that Bunnings should cease stocking this brand as it reflects poorly on them. Don't go near this brand

I am very, very disappointed. It lasted 6 months before completely losing its spring action. Rubbish product - so do avoid this one. My previous Holman lasted over 10 years. Clearly the quality and place of manufacture is now quite different and focussed on volume sales and not producing a product of any quality.

I have just thrown out my 5th unit in 2 years. The hose themselves are very poor. Get holes in them very quickly and the retracta part always fails too. The last two we had only a few months when they started coming apart. It is hoselink for me from now on!

I originally purchased a 25m Holman retractable hose reel which failed to retract after a year. I returned it to Bunnings for an exchange 20m reel which also only lasted a year after the ratchet system failed. I emailed Holmans who advised that then the warranty on my replacement unit was from the original date of purchase of the 25m reel and therefore was no warranty given on the replacement. Consumer Affairs may see this differently but the upshot is that 2 reels should not fail within 2 years and so in my opinion there are design flaws wit...

Bought the above from Bunning Perth in the month of February, 2017 and brought it back to Malaysia. Initially it works wonders. However after several uses, the hoze got jammed and could not retract. After resolving this problem the hose don't lock. Wishing Bunning or Holcan can come to the rescue

Bought 20m XW20 retractable hose (Batch 1641) from Bunnings Whitfords WA in December 2016. Has only been used about 10 times. Totally failed today when hose was extended, sounded like the spring had gone. Don't normally keep receipts for more than 6 months so don't know if I've got much chance of a replacement. Should've bought a cheap & nasty $10 hose in the first place! Lesson learned....

I had the 10 metre Holman retractable hose reel, which lasted approx 6 months leaking badly from inside the casing and not able to be fixed, took the reel back to Bunnings who were not helpful and not ready to do anything to help. I contacted Holman directly and they were very good, they spoke with Bunnings and refunded the purchase price by way of a store docket I paid the difference to upgrade to the 20 metre version which was supposed to be a more reliable unit, I installed it in a protective closeable box this time the spring broke of cours...

We've had this product for just on a year, and was very happy, but yesterday I went to wash off bird droppings on my car, and the hose would not retract, sounded like loose parts in the bottom of the casing, found receipt, taking back to Bunnings. Cheers Glenn M

I purchased the Holman 20 meter retractable hose reel from Bunnings approximately 18 months ago. I purchased a total of 2 units a few months apart. The hose reel works well above 15 degrees C but is hopeless in colder climates. The hose becomes very hard and is inflexible. This prevents the operator being able to pull the hose out as the reel mechanism jams. If you are able to pull some hose out it will not rewind. The hose itself is the problem. Has Holman solved this problem for colder climates? If so can the hose within the reel be replaced with a more flexible one suitable for colder climates? We are located in NE Victoria. The packing material and sadly the receipts have been lost. I can supply serial numbers for both units.

I bought three hoses two for myself and one for my son (Christmas present) all work brilliantly. the problem I have is with my sons hose the screws holding the casing have all rusted leaving brown stains on the casing it looks bad. strangely no such problem with mine. solution please thanks
