Why did Holman change bracket dimensions on latest 30m reel? Earlier model, bought approx 5 years ago, no problem until recently when spring broke. Went to Bunnings bought new one thinking it would just fit on previous bracket. Completely different size. On earlier model used aftermarket metal bracket because whoever designs these brackets thinks we all live in a concrete building. A lot live in older timber or fibro/ timber frame construction. Always have asked "Why do engineers have to change something that works?" This is why I hate engineers.
My advice would be to change the hose reel altogether with something better quality replaced both mine with Gardena reels, a bit more expensive but the hose and the mechanism is so much better in quality, very happy so far, dont waste your money on these, cheap and do not even make it to the end of the warranty period

Its a pity someone at Holman doesn't change something to keep their hose reels retracting. I've got one of their out of warranty non retracting units. The improved "pivot ability" does nothing for the 30 meters of hose lying all over the ground.
My 30 metre hose has become very stiff and hard making it difficult to retract. My question is this, I would like to replace it with knitted flexible one, what is the max. diameter of the hose to be used ? I realise that you can only fit so much on the reel and a thicker hose will take up more space than a thinner one.

This is the second time in one year my new 30 metre Holman hose has stopped retracting. I have bought 2 from Bunnings in the last 12 months but didn’t keep receipts.
Can you please tell me how I can get this hose fixed? I don’t think I should have to keep replacing them in such a short period of time
Hello Toby, without a receipt it is going to be very difficult for this to be exchanged.
This illustrates the importance of retaining receipts for warrantied products, once a receipt has been discarded, it is difficult to establish age of the product or if you are the original purchaser.
You are welcome to send a photo of your faulty item with the batch number visible from under the lid, however, we cannot guarantee we can replace an item without proof of purchase.

The internal bracket that connects to the wall bracket has split, the plastic is not sufficient hold the weight of it. Looks like a bad design to me.

Hello Bill, these units are not recommend to be pulled apart. The internal spring is under tension and can cause harm if it is opened. If your unit is under warranty, it will be replaced for you. This is exactly what's happening with mine. Disappointed to say the least.
I have batch no. 1540 it will not retract can it be fixed or still under warranty. Can't find receipt

Suggest you ask Holman direct. Mine was out of warranty, I found it was a poor design of their belt, asked for a replacement, they said they'd send one, never got it. Seems nearly everyone has the same problem, just bad design and poor after sales service. Good luck.

It's possibly the belt, if its under warranty, two years, take it back where you bought it. If not then Holman may send you a belt, but you'd have to fit it yourself, not easy. Holman promised to send me a belt, never got it, so don't get your hopes up. Phone or email Holman....that may or may not get help, it depends on what they feel like at the time. Phone calls got nothjng done for me, but good luck and hope you do better than I did.

Take it back, get a refund and buy a Hoselink 20m online. A bit dearer butquantum quality difference,

The plastic bracket that moves from side to side, that holds the roller, for the hose to roll on, has broken. The unit is 2-3 years old. Can I replace this bracket?
I have a Holman 30m retractable hose reel that will not retract. I purchased the unit at Bunnings, however do not have the receipt mainly due to the number of purchases we make through Bunnings. It’s annoying that the unit has failed as we now have 30m of hose sitting in a heap. I know we purchased the unit less than two years ago as we haven’t been in our house that long. What do I need to do?
Robert, had same problem after minimal use. Pulled apart out of curiosity and found spring snapped nearest inner anchor point. Appears a incorrectly installed O ring allowed water inside - it was very rusty. Ive gone to a manual wind up option from Bunnings, these things too flakey and overpriced for the quality you get

I have 7 holman retractable hoses and 5 of them do not retract properly anymore. they make a loud grinding sort of noise when trying to retract and dont go from side to side as winding At $150 each i hope they can be fixed? and theyre older than 2 years

Hi I recieved a Holman 30m retractable hose for Christmas (so only 2 months ago) and it no longer locks in place and always wants to retract just wonderin g if this would still have warranty? I have no receipt or box as I threw them both away. I bought it from bunnings
Yes they can tell from the code under the flap on top if it is still under warranty. I would ring Holman first as Bunnings army really helpful without receipts.

Hi is a 17/27 still under warranty it was only purchased 12 months ago but we cannot find the receipt? unfortunately it wont retract after using it for the first time, very disappointed after finally installing it and then... nothing!

Like some here, my spring has unwound on my retractable holman 30. Unsure if still under warranty or not. Bought at Bunnings maybe 2 years ago? Unsure about batch number but there is "1544" stamped on the back of the unit and under the cover has two small arrows pointing to 11 and 11. Can anything be done?
Hi Max, I would suggest you ring Holman service direct (they are in WA) they were very understanding but I had a receipt so could prove the purchase date. Even though I had the Bunnings receipt they wouldn't help me. When I rang Holman they asked for the number which is stamped under flap on top of the unit, mine was 4 digits like you have quoted and once I gave them the number I gather they can track the date it was manufactured because they immediately said yes after checking the number. The unit has a 2 years warranty on the mechanics but I think 7 years on the hose. Good luck hope this helps.

Remind Holman of the Australian Consumer law..that their Warranty is to the extend of life expectancy and NOT their warranty. Take your concern to the Fair Trading / ACCC and get them to come up with the real way of doing business instead of those archaic way of doing Business by screwing the Customers.

Hi Paul, The standard warranty currently is 2 years. So it is outside the warranty unless at the time of purchase you had a different warranty time frame.

so Paul you paid good money for a hose and reel and they only last 2 years. thats disgusting
Was looking for a hose reel but after seeing Holman constantly respond with the offer to replace poor quality is a big concern. Why replace poor quality with poor quality ? Seems Holman need to get their quality sorted out and instil some confidence back into the brand as over 90% of customers give a "terrible" rating.
Have they done anything recently to get the product up to scratch ? Maybe a 5 year warranty would put some confidence back into the brand.

Hi. My kids purchased for me a Holman 30 retractable hose reel for Fathers Day this year (2018). The serial number is 17/37. The hose is only retracting half way and no further. I tried extending the hose a little more but it still only retracts half way before stopping. Quite disappointing considering it has only been used 2 or 3 times. What is my next move on a refund or replacement. Prefer a refund so I don't encounter this and many other issues I am seeing here. Thank you. Rod
