Similar issues with the valve as others. Failed product.
Have had the unit for several months. Noticed that it wasn't turning on when the chook water was dry. Blutooth works fine and the mechanism is working. The problem is with the valve. Very poor construction. On dismantling the unit I found that the small spring that puts pressure on the diaphram had completely rusted and was in pieces. Why it is not stainless in this kind of environment baffles me. It is set up to fail. I am not an engineer but this is not rocket science. It should be an easy fix to improve the product. Very disappointed and a wasted fifty dollars. I was going to buy another one but not now as I am sure the same will happen. Should have kept the receipt.

Failed after a couple of months. Not worth purchasing.
Purchased 2 of these at Bunnings 3 months ago. One is working perfectly for the time being. Unfortunately, I don't trust it as the other one has stopped working.
The failed unit stopped watering. Fortunately we noticed it before the garden was damaged.
Firstly it just did not turn on, and also seemed to indicate the battery was low (after 3 months?). Replaced the battery and attempted to manually water. Little click, but no water. Turned the water off and then on and the unit started to operate.
We then noticed it didn't turn off comple...Read more

Dead plant creator
Bought the unit and trusted it to keep our special fuschias watered during five weeks away. No such luck. Now have to try to rescue some cuttings. Noticed that during manual watering, while testing, it would close and open on a regular cycle. Did not worry about it as it was to be used on automatic. Seemed to work OK for one day before leaving. Came back to Fuschia death bed. Will return for refund and buy something that will do the job without destroying the rest of our garden.

False advertising, crap product, non-existent support. DO NOT TOUCH!
I loved the idea of these: being able to adjust or move the sprinkler without having to go all the way back to the tap to switch it off! I bought one each for my front and back yard. I had read about them online and it (and the box they come in) said you could 'control up to 8 x btx1 smart valves with one app'. This is actually just not true: after trying to pair both timers on the app, I found that it says in small print in the manual 'each tap timer will only pair with one smartphone'. So I just paired one. It worked ok for a while (like one ...Read more
hour) but then if I switched it off in manual mode and switched it back on, it would switch off and on every few seconds and flash the battery low indicator (I had put brand new top of the line duracells in it). Pressing the button inside the timer seemed to resolve the problem, but having to return to the tap every time defeats the whole purpose of the timer!! And anyway, it just did the same thing again. I sent a polite email to [email protected] and got no reply. After a week, I emailed again - still no reply. So back to bunnings they go. I'm going to talk to the bunnings store manager - they can probably exert more influence on holman than any of us can. Don't waste your time and money on this terrible product!Purchased in January 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $49.00.

Unreliable: you get what you pay for
Purchased a package of 2 Holman BTX1B Bluetooth watering valves at Bunnings. They both worked correctly for the first month. However, one has stopped turning on automatically. It is very strange as the manual control works through the app, the valve works automatically if I program it to turn on a short time after the manual test, yet when I update it again for my desired time it fails to automatically turn on the next morning. The device reports that everything is in order including the battery level and clock. I have run this test numerous ti...Read more
mes over the past few days and continue to experiment as it seems to be software, not hardware related. I shouldn’t be having this much trouble getting the device to work correctly. The product concept is excellent, but the implementation is disappointing. I would have been very happy with the purchase if I had not encountered this issue. I would buy a better quality product instead. I foolishly didn’t keep my receipt - my bad.Purchased in November 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse.

Stoped working after about 9 months, watering once every 2 days (Avoid this model)
Terrible quality product, the internal valve mechanism isn’t up to standard.
It uses the water pressure itself to open and close the valve rather than a pin and actuator. So the holes eventually get blocked or very restricted with built up crap and that then stops the valve opening.

All 4 stopped working in 3 months
I bought 4 of these timers from Bunnings, all 4 of them stopped working correctly within 3 months of purchase.
2 stopped opening, 1 wouldn’t fully shut and 1 was hit n miss whether it would open.
I returned them all for a full refund at Bunnings.

Unreliable and chews through batteries
Of three, one goes through a Duracell 9v battery every two weeks (locks open/closed at point of battery failure), other has twice not turned off, and one is ok. Had plants looking sad and realised battery was dead, next battery it locked open and watered all night, battery was dead again. Other issue is u can’t manually turn on/off, only via app, and only one phone.

Unreliable
Given the lack of rain in recent months I thought these would be a good idea.
While the app is great, it does not always tell the 'truth'... That is, if I switch on manual watering, the app says the system is watering... whether it is or not... so I need to go outside and check.
Which leads to the main issue... the valve does not appear to be strong enough; even for my LOW water pressure. It often fails to switch on, both on timer and manual. I know my water pressure is not excessive as I have (unfortunately) been forced to install pressure controls during a recent renovation.

Don't waste your time
This does not work. Just picked it up from Bunnings, installed Duracell batteries, Although I am able to pair the unit to my Android phone via Bluetooth, the iGardiner app does not detect the BTX1 Device. Have tried pressing the button in battery compartment for 12 secs several times, Tried umpairing and pairing, the app does not detect the device. Have wasted most of 2 hours trying to get it to work and it does not work. Returning it Bunnings. I need to look for another product.Absolute waste of time!!!

Don't buy
I have had two of these tap timers for about 18 months now and I really regret buying them. I have given up on scheduling timers because it is inconstant if it will start and more concerningly if it will shut off. I have been caught out before where the tap hasn't shut off and keep watering, wasting water. I now only use the manual water feature. Sometimes the manual water works sometimes it doesnt'.
Dont buy this item.

Very good irrigator
I purchased and installed one at my partners extensive plant and flower garden about 6 months ago - very, very good.
Consequently, I just installed one in my own garden. For $49 - well worth it.
A bit fiddly to install without leaks near the tap, but persevere and all will be OK. VERY easy to program.

Very disappointed. Do not waste your money.
Purchased the BTX1 from Bunnings two weeks ago. Initial set up was not that simple. Major problem is that the systems watering cycle will not shut off at times, leading to expensive water bills. Returning it Bunnings for a refund.

Found the issue!
I had been using these (3 units) for a year now with no fault till we had to change the battery.
Upon battery change, the app did not recognise or pick up the devices despite repeatedly pressing the reset button thus making us conclude that the units were faulty.
We then try changing to a better brand battery (Duracell) and everything was good again.
To anyone who has the same issue, try swapping to a better battery. I hope this works for you as much as it has for me.

killed my plants
Bought a 2 pack of this product from bunnings. Both had issues turning on. Sometimes they would work othertimes they wouldnt. We have lost a number of plants because of this faulty product. Judging by the reviews this is simply a lemon of a product. Would not recomend at all to anyone.

Excellent product
When I saw all the negative reviews for the BTX1 I was a bit worried as I had just purchased one. But I was pleasantly surprised when I set it up and programmed the unit. Very easy process, I am using the 7 day twice a day cycle for my veggies, so can't comment on the other setup times, but I can't see it being very different.

What a piece of crap
I rarely give reviews, except when something is really good, or really bad. In this case, this is the biggest, waste of time, piece of faeces product I have pretty well ever used.
I bought a BTX1 bluetooth "smart valve" tap timer, hoping that being a hugely technologically advanced piece of kit, I would be able to program different start and stop times each day, say Tuesday at 5pm, Wednesday at 7am. Alas, this was all too hard to program into an app.
It's really not hard, just make the allowance to program individual days, much quicker than t...Read more
he stupid 5 buttons at the top. This is not the "full control" as advertised from the box. This is barely better than the other programmable units on the market that are a giant box. Also, remove the requirement for app permissions for the product to work. You do NOT need my gps or access to my media to program a damn tap timer. Good luck in the future, for now this is a piece of crap that is going back. If I could give it no stars, I would.Purchased in November 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $94.00.

My husband had app installed on his phone. He is heading overseas for a few months so he uninstalled so could put it on my phone. Have followed all steps and keep getting same install error message. Any suggestions?
It would reasonable to allow two phones so we can both control unit if needed.

I have 5 BTX1B pumps. Until recently I had 2 of them set up to water the back lawn on a timed schedule using the Holman app. Now all 5 of them will turn on and off manually, but when you schedule them they turn on fine but never turn off until I do it manually (using the app). Has there been an app update or firmware update or something recently? Or is there another explanation? Have I wasted my $250?

I have had 2 of these units. One has failed completely - wont turn off completely. One is still going, but the timer function seems to have had some change. Personally I think you have wasted your money, as I have also done.
I have tried to contact Holman, but have never received a response other than message received.
There must be better brands out there.
I would return the product if you still have the receipt.
Thanks for the quick response and the advice. I probably have wasted my money, judging by all the other posts I read today.

My BTX6 is Constantly giving “low batter error”. Doesn’t wanna do manual or programmed watering. I changed the batter but still no good. What could be the problem?

Our son has the btx6 and worked OK when battery was changed for a heavy duty Duracell. It seems that Holman's controllers are sensitive to battery voltage. I solved my btx1 problems by tossing it in the bin. I don't think their range is any where near a reliable product and are being marketed with known faults. Shame on Holman.
I have had a similar problem with a BTX1. When my unit showed a low voltage, I replaced the battery. I thought the unit was too sensitive to voltage change as the old battery was only 3 months old. I tested the battery I removed and it seemed ok. The unit communicated properly again, but then failed to reliably open and close the valve, resulting in excess water / loss when it failed to turn off. Fortunately we noticed after some hours, and the loss was not too destructive.
I didnt have a receipt from Bunnings, so I have no hope of getting a replacement which I would not want in any case.
I think that the best solution is to replace it with something else that works and to keep away from Holman as they dont respond to calls for assistance.
