Comfortable and Beautiful Way to Carry Your Baby
I bought an original Hug a Bub in 2014 for my firstborn son.
As he was very small at birth the Hug a Bub was perfect.
It is great for those that have a bad back like I do and also a really beautiful way to carry your child close to you.
My son loved being carried in it and would sleep the whole time he was in it

brilliant for the first few months
Extremely comfortable and easy to use once you get the hang of it. Very supportive, I had bad lower back pain and using the hug a bub really helped. Downsides are that it's quite hot in summer, you can only really use it till bub is about 8kg and it's a pain when it gets vomited on because it takes a while to dry after you wash it

Very handy in the early days
Used this every day for the first 6 months. Bub was safe and secure but with me at all times and I could have both my hands free! Especially good when you have older children wanting your attention at the same time as bub. Super easy to use too! Highly recommend

Loved it
I bought the Hug-a-Bub for my third baby as I didn't like the baby carriers Id used for my first two. I found the straps fiddled to adjust and they always gave me a sore back. The Hug-a-Bub was a revelation. It was so comfortable, gave me no back pain and I always felt my baby was secure. I used it every day when collecting my eldest from school and I could hold hands with the older two while my baby was in the sling. I took it on our overseas holiday and used it on the plane when my baby was unsettled and wouldn't sleep in the bassinet provided. I used it everywhere sightseeing. My only regret was when she got too big and I had to stop using it, and that I didn't buy a Hug-a-Bub for my first baby, I loved it so much.

Love this product and so did my son
This baby carrier is the only one my fussy boy liked to be carried in until 18 months when he was simply just to heavy. It was fantastic I can't carry him for long periods due to back and hip problems it just distributes his weight evenly and it is comfortable for us both

Baby loves it!
I got the hug-a-Bub when my baby was around 6 weeks old. It was the best baby item I purchased. My baby always wanted to sleep in my arms and would wake when put down, which meant a lot of my day was spent on the couch. It also took a while to soothe him to sleep, by rocking and breastfeeding. The first time I popped on the carrier he fell asleep easily within a couple of minutes and I had my hands free to get things done! He also slept for longer stretches in the carrier. I used it until he was about 7 months old and then I bought another carrier which I could clip on and off more quickly. Cant wait to use the hug-a-bub again if we have another baby! :)

Was great but...
The wrap worked well but was hard to tighten at the top once baby was in. My friend lent me a different type of hug a bub which had strings to tighten which worked much better. I felt my baby was much more secure. Ended up buying a more structured carrier.

Lifesaver!
We used the hugabub for our second baby who had reflux. The wrap was simple to use and kept bub securely next to me, and upright, which was the only thing that would settle her reflux.
The hugabub is the only way I could prepare meals, a definite lifesaver for us!
We are now using it for our 5 week old.

Toddler wrangling with a newborn life saver. Great for hands free baby holding when you have one even better for toddler wrangling when you have a second - could not live with out it! Buy far the best item I've bought for a newborn. Also great for breast feeding on the go!

Good
Enjoyed using it, but found other models easier to put in when I was alone with Bub. I found this one quite convoluted and hard to use, so didn't end up using it much. Loved the colours and how comfy it was, but it took too long to put on when Bub was crying and I was home alone.

Could not have lived without this. Definite life saver
I'm a cold frog, but my LO is a hot body. I don't have any issues with being too hot. I loved this carrier, i balked at the price, but let me tell you mummies or future mummies out there, this is a lifesaver. I was able to get washing done, dishes done, shopping done because of this sling. Bub was a reflux baby so this sling was so helpful. Head remains steady in this sling. Not like some other brands other choose to use, and you often see them using one of their hands to cradle baby's head. Don't they realise there is a better option for hands free. It does take a bit of getting used to tying the fabric, but it also comes with a DVD. I am keeping mine to hand on to any future grand children I may get, it's that good.

Invaluable.
I bought a hug-a-bub because I thought I would be able to breastfeed in it as I had a very hungry baby! I never figured out how to breastfeed the baby in the wrap, but it has still been the best baby purchase I made.
Cost wise, I was unsure of coughing up $80 but after seeing the price of some other wraps around, Hug-a-bub is the most accessible baby wearing wrap imo.
In terms of comfort for baby, the material is thick which makes me wonder how we will go in summer. My baby is a winter baby. He was warm and snug. He would fall asl...Read more
eep within minutes of being in it. As soon as I put him in the hug-a-bub, he looks around and I can tell he feels very secure and happy. Now he is older, he is trying to twist around to see the world instead of my chest, so I can tie him off-centre to accommodate his curiousity. As for my comfort, I have a weak back so I need a back brace when wearing this. I have to pay close attention to tying technique to make sure the weight is spread over my shoulders (not on top of). As for safety, paying attention to wrapping technique is absolutely necessary. If not tied tight enough, baby will begin to sag. The test recommended to me was the kiss test: If you can kiss baby on the head without difficulty, s/he is in the right position. Also, there were some articles about baby's suffocating in their wraps. This has never been a danger to me as my baby's head was never pushed into my chest. His head was always free to move around, though supported well either by my hand or by the back panel. I am very happy with my purchase and enjoy its versatility. My baby loves to be wrapped and the hug-a-bub is an accessible option for baby wearing.1 comment
I just want to add with the topic of heat, I have found that the hug-a-bub original is not as bad as you might think. In Bundaberg, it can get quite humid and temperatures get to 30 degrees celcius ... Read more
or higher regularly in Summer. I fold the back panel down so it sits under the baby's bottom and there is airflow that goes along my son's sides and up along his arms. It was an issue of mind over matter for me. Because it is cotton, it will only get so hot and definitely not unbearably so. Also, the material is not as thick as I originally thought in comparison to some other woven wraps.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best purchase I made
For the first 3 months of my baby's life he spent more time in the hugabub than he did anywhere else! It was a way of soothing him when he was crying, a way to get things done around the house with 2 hands, and taking him out to the shops or a cafe was made easier by putting him in the wrap. The tying didn't take very long to learn at all, and it was easier to tie and put bub in the wrap than it was to get a pram out. The fabric of the hugabub is perfect and provides lots of support, however when the weather was very hot it could all get a b...Read more

Love this wrap
I love the Hug-a-bub and so does my 7 week old son. It keeps him nice and snug and allows me to have my hands free to do shopping or house work. It keeps him settled on grizzly days too and he will fall asleep without fail whilst he is in it.
My son is a hot bod (needing one less layer of clothing than an adult) so I need to make sure he's wearing even less if I'm going to pop him in it. I am not sure how this will fare during summer. As it is winter the added bonus is that he keeps me nice and toasty!
The wrap appears confusing to put on...Read more
but after watching a youtube demo, I just practiced a few times at home before leaving the house. I also found it easier to put it on before leaving home and adjusting in the reflection of the car window once at my destination. My back feels supported and I was told by a post natal physio that the design of this wrap is better fr your back due to the crossed back and lower back crossover. Although I find it kind of annoying, it is possible to breastfeed whilst wearing the wrap as once baby is out of it, its easy to move the straps out of the way. Cosy for baby, comfortable, enables mutlitasking, good back support, adjusts as baby grows. Expensive for what it is.1 comment

Thankyou for your review. There are ways of wearing the Hugabub in summer to allow for more airflow. Gathering up the straps, pulling down the logo panel etc. As long as the carrier is worn tight it will still be comfortable for both wearer and baby.

One of the best baby purchases I've made!
The Hug-a-bub is very comfortable. Not just for the baby - he falls asleep easily when wrapped in the Hug-a-Bub - but for me as well. I've tried the Baby Bjorn Original carrier and it hurts my shoulders after a while, whereas I can carry my baby in the Hug-a-bub for several hours and not feel at all sore. I love that I'm able to shield baby from the sun and keep his head secure. The pocket also comes in handy when packing the Hug-a-bub for travel. It takes a few tries to get the hang of wearing it, but the DVD is a definite help with that!
Comfort!

Comfy way to cary bub
I bought the hug-a-bub after doing a large amoung of research into carriers. I have found it to be very comfortable and distributes weight well. I recently did some longer walks with miss 8months and was plesently surprised how comfortable it was. I did take the time to make sure the fabric was not bunched or twisted to allow for the best weight distribution.
It is also versitle enough that at 8 months if I place bub in the in facing position she can snuggle in for a good sleep on the go and be tucked away. I found it equaly good for wh...Read more
en I had a new born and sleeping on the go. I was initialy a little reluctant to wash my hug-a-bub for the fear that it may need ironing or not wash well but was very happy to find that it washed and was ready to go straight off the line. It looked as good as when it went in the machine less the dirt. In the begining I found it alittle long winded putting on the carrier but after half a doz times I found I could wrap one side around and tuck the end into a pocket to prevent it falling on the ground while I did the other side. It was a little lilke learning to tie shoe laces. with a little practice you can do it in your sleep. I have recently had baby number 3 and was loaned a baby Bjorn - I found this made my shoulders ache after a very short time with a small baby under 6kg. Back to the Hug a Bub. Can carry baby facing both in and out facing, comfortable for the carrier even with a large baby and long distance. Took a little practice to get fitting down pat with out dragging the ends on the ground.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nice idea but difficult to put on
I love the idea of the wrap and baby being snug in my chest, it seems comfortable for the carrier and bub. However, i feel that i need a university degree to know how to put it on! i find that there is too much excessive fabric, probably due to bub and i being small and i can't seem to wrap my baby snug enough.
i cannot imagine how i can easily put it on and off when i go out and about or have to do it quickly.
one piece of fabric that wrap around with no attachment
Difficult to put on

HI SukMaan. It sounds like some good old fashioned customer support is what is needed. There are a few simple steps that if not carried out precisely will affect the overall look and feel of your wrap... Read more
. It is a simple tying technique which merely involves wrapping and crossing the fabric in three different places around your body. It is however important to have it tied on very tight before you pop the baby in. It should take no more than 1 minute to put on and about the same or less to put your baby in. But there is a system to learn and a skill to develop. We would love to help you work out how to resolve these problems and are confident it can easily be done over the phone or over Skype if you'd prefer. Too hot to wear in Summer
I live in QLD and purchased the hugabub because of the great reviews. I have only used it a couple of times and personally found the wrap too hot for our weather. I am disappointed as it is very comfortable to wear. I would not recommend using the hugabub if you live in a hot climate area.

Hi Amy. There are summer wearing adjustments that allow for more airflow, less layering and less body coverage. Please feel free to call head office for product support.

Is it worth me getting a hug bub even thou my baby is now 8kg? I previously had a carrier but it was soo uncomfortable, has anyone used the hug a bub with a bigger baby
2 answers
It's really hard to say. I've got a big baby, and still use it every now and then. My guy weighs about 11.5kg now. I can't exactly remember but he was probably 6-8kg when I bought it. You could always Google or eBay a Moby Wrap and find a cheap one to see if you like it. I didn't realize a Moby Wrap is the same as (and a more generic name of) a hug a bub. And, as good as the hug a bub is, I would have tried to find something cheaper before committing had I known what they were called :).
Hi Julie, I'd get a woven. I had a hug-a-bub and was amazed at the difference in support. Hug-a-bubs and Mobys are invaluable for small ones, but as they get heavier, more support is warranted. Wovens can get expensive. I recommend starting out by going to a local baby-wearing group. They normally have libraries and you can try varying carriers there. Otherwise, there is the "BWBSS Aussie Babywearing Support" and the ladies in that group can help you out.
