Great baby carrier! Love it

published

felt as though it was better for when my child was an infant. Stopped using it when he reached 6 months as he felt quite restricted. Great carrier for getting Bub to sleep and being close. Love it! Will use it with my next child. Beautiful material, excellent instructional DVD.

Excellent

I love my hug a Bub. With my eldest, we would spend hours sitting cuddling while she slept. I was afraid my son would miss out on that closeness. But I was able to wrap him close for a cuddle and still get on with minding my three year old. Even after having my c section, it's always been comfortable to wear. I had a winter baby who had to spend lots of time outside while his sister played. I always knew he was warm when he was on my chest.

I forgot to say!!! I love that I could put it on at home, then drive to the shops and pop Bub straight in. No standing in the rain trying to close buckles etc!! And very good for discreet breastfeeding on the go!! Can't rate this highly enough!!

Disappointing

published

The order was sent in separate bundles and so because I was having it shipped onwards it became a hugely expensive exercise - this separate processing was done without any communication to me.

I also found the fabric is too stretchy, so after a period of baby wearing, the baby slides around and I need to keep retying. This is extremely difficult when I am out on my own and don't wish to put the baby down on a dirty seat. It was much more comfortable with an ergo - both for me and baby.

It just felt right

published

Wearing my baby in a Hug-a-Bub was the first thing as a parent that really felt right. I was never certain if I was being a good Mum, but the instant I could carry her close I knew it was right for us. It was a great introduction to baby wearing.

A little too hot!

published

It took us a little while to figure out how to safely wrap our baby - especially when we were on the go, such as getting out of the car. Once we figured it out, we loved it whilst our baby was very little as we could really snuggle him up. But it became too hot and our baby became quite uncomfortable too quickly. I note that you have a new lightweight edition, so hopefully this will be somewhat more comfortable to wear for periods of time?

What a lifesaver!

published

My hug a bub was an absolute lifesaver throughout the first months of by second child's life! Running around after a toddler, going shopping or just to the park was all possible with the hug a bub. So comfortable and my baby so settled. Even breastfed in it! The best! 9mths in and I still use it! Not problems with my back. My husband and I both highly recommend to all parents.

My favourite carrier for newborns - so snug!

published

I used my hugabub for all three children for the first few months of their lives. It felt wonderful having them held snug against my body, nice and cosy and secure. It left my hands free to do my shopping or help my other children and my babies loved sleeping it. I quickly became a whizz at tying it on, even in the rain... without getting the ends wet! It doesn't take long to master.

Best baby purchase

published

I used my hug a bub wrap every day with my first. She wanted to be held for all her naps and would not let me put her down. This was the most comfortable carrier and I tried a lot!! the fabric spreads the weight across your body so there are no sore pressure spots- it's like having bub in your t shirt. When my second came along he spent a lot of time in it too - he was happy and I had my hands free to look after my toddler. Third baby came along and has lived happily in there while I carry on with the older two. So it's lasted 3 babies and held them close and snug. Really highly recommend!! Best way to care for baby and get on with things. This was my most used and loved baby item!!

A little disappointing

published

I loved the hug a bub for the new born phase but found that a wriggly baby meant the fabric would shift as I wore her making the harness not as secure. As a dissapointing result I stopped using it after about 4 months due to safety concerns for bub.

The Hug a bub was my saving grace

published

I loved my hug a bub, having both the original and the ring sling.
It was a much better option than the others on the market at the time, although there are some quality options now which would impact on my choice if I were to make it again. It was frustrating that it stretch over long periods of using it, but always shrunk back in the washer and drier.

Great!

published

I found this to be very convenient. Easy to wear. No stress on the shoulders as the fabric streched out and spread the weight of the baby (babies). Easy to wash. We bought 2 and wore three babies over the period of 3 years or so. Perfect for newborns too as the head is supported.

Gorgeous wrap - would be lost without it

published

I absolutely love my hug a bub! I used it everyday and my bub loved being wrapped up and close. It felt very secure and so light, unlike other carriers I have. My only regret was not buying it sooner, I got it when he was 9 weeks old, I wish I had it from day one.

Fantastic, I wear my baby for hours every day

published

Fantastic wrap. Very supportive for bub and for me to wear for hours each day. I've had it for 10 weeks now. We live in SE Queensland and this fabric is great for the hot weather. Would love to see it come in different colours. Fabric stretches out a little with wear but regains its shape after washing. I tend to move the middle point of the fabric around my waist to ensure bub is placed in different parts of the fabric for each wear, to help avoid stretching out the fabric in one place.

Upwardly mobile baby

We used the Hug-a-bub from 2 weeks first time in the middle of the night in a dim hope of alleviating colic and it worked! Then hands free snuggle transport. I transported buba all over London on public transport (buses, trains & ferries) with ease. Then travelling just buba and I across the world. Great in crowds such markets. Super easy, super comfy and machine washable! I would recommend the hugabubb as an essential to every parent.

Love this - easy to use once you're shown how

Agree with all the positive reviews. Also, want to add I got fast shipping / delivery. Rang Customer Service to ask for help - as I was a bit confused when putting it on first time. Staff sorted everything out with me over the phone. Helped me figure out how to put the wrap on safely and snug. I was confident from the first time I carried bub in the wrap, now I don't use anything else. Customer Service staff also gave me you-tube video instructions, I saved them on my phone. So easy.

Loved it!

Loved it for both my two kids, was particularly good for newborn Bub with 17month old toddler so I could put one in the hug a Bub and carry the other. Bit warm in summer but lovely in the aircon, took a while to learn to put it on but felt so secure and safe once on.

Too tricky

published

I'm not talented enough at origami to make the Hug-a-Bub work. It was really difficult to tie in and couldn't get it firm enough to hold my baby safely. I know someone who really loved it but it wasn't right for me. I'm trying to sell it on gumtree. I've have better luck with the Bjorn One.

What is the weight limit on the hug a bug newbie?

Hi Angel, the official weight limit is 3.2 kg. If your baby is smaller or premature, it is possible to use Newbie but you would need to check with your health professional first.
We hope that helps. Kind regards.

Ring Sling

Hi,
I'm after reviews of the Hugabub RING SLING, not the wrap?
Could someone please comment?

I am a certified babywearing instructor educated through Die Trageschule Dresden. I love the Hug A Bub ring slings, especially the new mesh one. It's cotton weave is cool and easily washed. I also like that they use quality rings and fabric from a ethical manufacturer. I have not seen any other mesh fabric slings out there. I also like that the fabrics used are not too thin/thick or cheap run of the mill cotton. Hug A Bub has great customer service and good instructions to help if you are unfamiliar with using a sling. I love ring slings because they are beautiful easy and compact. I feel like a natural mam in a ring sling. When I wear other types of carriers, I feel like I am going on a trip and have my baby packed in a back pack:)

Hi Mandi78. Just wondering if you ever purchased a hugabub ring sling? I'm thinking of going down the same path. If so how did you find it? Thank you Rhianna

Hi,

I don't have a HugaBub ring sling. I was looking for a light cotton everyday sling as I don't want to wear out my beautiful P-Sling.

I have a silk blend P-sling in slate grey. Although I wear it casually, It's quite dressy and I have had quite a few mums stop to ask me what type of sling it is.

Also, I have a BreezeBaby (same as Taylor Made Sling. Absolutely swear by it for bathing an infant. I could never manage a bath, too awkward.

My 'Seven' sling lives in the car and is my arms free kit when holding my young bub while collecting my toddler from daycare.

Wear any sling on your shoulder and not your neck or you will soon feel neck pain. Practice without a baby in until you feel what's right positioning.

Had a Natures Sway sling and regret selling it off but, at the time, I felt compelled to minimise.

Is it worth me getting a hug bub even thou my baby is now 8kg? I previously had a carrier but it was soo uncomfortable, has anyone used the hug a bub with a bigger baby

It's really hard to say. I've got a big baby, and still use it every now and then. My guy weighs about 11.5kg now. I can't exactly remember but he was probably 6-8kg when I bought it. You could always Google or eBay a Moby Wrap and find a cheap one to see if you like it. I didn't realize a Moby Wrap is the same as (and a more generic name of) a hug a bub. And, as good as the hug a bub is, I would have tried to find something cheaper before committing had I known what they were called :).

Kellie W.
Kellie W.

Hi Julie, I'd get a woven. I had a hug-a-bub and was amazed at the difference in support. Hug-a-bubs and Mobys are invaluable for small ones, but as they get heavier, more support is warranted. Wovens can get expensive. I recommend starting out by going to a local baby-wearing group. They normally have libraries and you can try varying carriers there. Otherwise, there is the "BWBSS Aussie Babywearing Support" and the ladies in that group can help you out.
