Hi Klaudia.
To be honest I haven’t noticed it as a problem. I guess because it’s at the back of the car I don’t notice it. Do you mean the camera screen stays on? If this is the case mine doesn’t do that. I’ll look next time I’m in my car and let you know.

As soon as mine leaves reverse the screen goes off the camera. I don’t know if there is a cap or not? I know mine was dirty so it’s obvious able to get mud on the lens.

Klaudia. No this must be normal as my cap take about 10 seconds to go back down so it’s all good.

I haven't got the 2017 model so not sure my answer will help. You can check out the photos at practicalmotoring.com.au/our-cars/week-4-hyundai-i30-sr-long-term-test/. This shows the rear seat cushions in position to allow the rear backrests to lay flat. The reviewer states "if the driver is, say, six feet tall you definitely won’t be able to have that section of the rear seat down completely flat." Being of average height I've never had that problem! Along the front lower edge of each rear seat cushion there is a loop that you have to pull firmly. This allows you to lift the seat cushion upwards then forwards so that it rests in the foot well. Each rear backrest then folds forward by lifting a lever located along the top of the backrest next to the side wall. To return the seats to their original position simply reverse the process. The seat cushions will click back so they are secure. Not sure if I've explained that very well. Hope it helps! Maybe go to a car dealer and ask them to demonstrate?

Thanks so much for your response. It is helpful. I have been to 3 dealers - non of which who knew that the back seat folded in the manner it does. When I called Hyundai - I was basically blocked from speaking to anyone who may have been able to help. Surprisingly enough - I still bought the Hyundai i30 !! I'm always astounded that businesses still survive in spite of their glaring shortcomings and I have just contributed to that support !!!!!

Anyway, moving on. I very much appreciate the time you spent in responding to my query.

Thanks for the reply, actually mine is really 2017 as well. I did have the 2015 model before and camera was chrystal clear compared to this one .Hyundai sales staff and tech .dept told me that the camera in latest models isn't as good .Hyundai head office in Sydney are ''looking into the issue'' for me but no joy from them yet .Would be interested if you could compare your reverse camera with previous model i30 .Can you see anything when it is dark? Mine looks like a terrible picture on an old analogue tv with indoor antennae

I use my navigation system constantly on my Hyundai i30 (2017) A problem I keep running into is not being able to enter the desired street number because the system will not give me the correct street number option. For example I may need to drive to 7 main street but the choices will not allow me to enter 7. It might allow me to enter 10 or 17 but not 7. This happens all the time. Can I over-ride the system and add the correct address number? I know that the number I want is correct and does exist on the street. I live in Scotland. Thanks

Hi Steve, I’ve found this as well with a couple of destinations I’ve put in. I haven’t found a way to override it and I know sometimes it needs updating and even when the GPS is updated it still won’t find the all address but some. =)

I'd be taking it to a mechanic if it was happening in my car. Good luck.

Hi Sandra. Sorry i don't know why this is happening. Maybe go to your mechanic and see why its doing that. Or if under warranty go to your Hyundai dealer.

I have a MY14 i30 Elite. In the last 2 weeks my proximity key has started to fail intermittently viz. not unlocking/locking doors or, if it does unlock the doors the press start button doesn't work. My wife's key works fine. I'm thinking this is a battery issue with my key but wondering if there could be something else at play. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated, please

@Adrian Thanks for the response. I tried a replacement battery & the problem continued, so I ended up with a $682 replacement fob, fortunately the car was still under warranty, from my local Hyundai Dealer.

Apart from Apple Car Play/Android that you can connect also, I have found the SatNav to be one of the best I have ever used. Have you spoken to/been shown by the Dealer's Service Department? They are usually very helpful. What's not working properly?

Chelsea3157
Chelsea3157

Yes I am experiencing problems with my sat nav. I have an i30SR premium 2017 model. I put in an address and if you didn’t know where you were going you would never find your destination. Just had an update and to be honest it is worse. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Chelsea3157
Chelsea3157

Yes, I have had problems too, but just had the 2018 update and it has improved, can now find addresses. Still have problems with lanes as when there is a slip lane nearby tells you to get into right hand lane as lane ending( not even in slip lane) and in many cases if you did change as directed you would be head on traffic. I have a Navman that is about 15 years old and has absolutely perfect navigation and correct lane guidance. It has taken 13 months to get this far, but still not right.

Hi. I have a Hyundai i30 - Premium, that is a little over 4 years old. It has had lag (when I accelerate it takes a long time to respond) since I got it and I have complained non stop when taking it for servicing, only to be told they checked the computer and nothing is wrong.

Last week, I drove it about 300kms from home and on my return went to overtake someone. I put my foot down and the car blew a thick cloud of white smoke out the exhaust (it covered the cars behind me).

I pulled over and got it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer which is still 1 and a half hours drive from where I live.
I checked the oil and water and all was OK. There was liquid like coolant in the exhaust and it smelt sweet.
Hyundai have the car and have looked at it telling me it needed a ECU update.

Has anyone had this problem? I am too scared to take the car especially having to drive it for and hour and a half home on a 110km road. Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen, As far as the lag is concerned, there is a minor lag on my car as well, when taking off fast. I believed that it is in ECO Mode, in which I drive all the time. You can try putting it off ECO Mode and see if the lag is still there. It is only a slight lag, and then the car takes off pretty fast. As for the other issue, let Hyundai look at it thoroughly and insist on it getting fixed, before your warranty expires. It could be coolant leaking into the engine. After they have fixed the issue, have another mechanic assess it and see if the problem is still there. I had an Audi 80 long time back and it had a problem of coolant leaking into the engine compartment and smoke used to come out. I believe the head gasket was leaking. I never got it fixed as it was too costly to fix and not worth the value of the car. Ask Hyundai to keep a record of the issue and if it repeats just after warranty, you should be covered as they have said that they fixed the issue. I don't think an ECU can control the coolant going into exhaust. Coolant pipes are pressurised and the coolant will go somewhere only if there is a crack in the system or gasket leak.

Hi Karen .I agree with Rak make sure your car is fixed properly. ..I haven't had a problem with Hyundia fixing my car under warranty. .I also agre with taking ECO off it does cause a small lag ..Good luck... Kath

Hi Karen. I had the exact same experience with my 3 year old I30 Active automatic last weekend. The NRMA had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer. The dealer's work report reads: "Tow in, vehicle revving high and blowing white smoke. " Carried out full scan test, no fault codes evident. Carried out latest software update as per bulletin, all ok"
I questioned the dealer as to how there should be a problem, since I had the car serviced only 3 weeks ago. (at another Hyundai dealership)
I did not get any straight answers and was told that, if I had an issue to take it up with the mechanic who did the recent service.
The question is, if you had the same problem almost 4 months ago, are there any other cars out there who have the potential issues. The scary part is that the NRMA roadside mechanic, who did the initial call out stated that " You were lucky that the car did'nt catch on fire"

Hi,

I have 2011 hyuandi i30. The car was beginning to fog, so I put on the front window air conditioner (bottom left fog button on front dash) the light turned on and was working fine... but now I can't manage to undo this- no matter how hard I press or how I press the button the light and mode is still on for de-fogging the front window... does anyone have any suggestions for this?

Hi Britt, Im sorry to hear that the fog button won't switch off, that would be so annoying. Mine has never done this so unfortunately I can't offer any advice to fix it.

Emily
Emily

Britt, I don't think it turns off by pushing the same button again, I think you have to push another button to switch it off such as, rear window, or leg, or foot, face.

I think you have to switch it off by switching something else.

There is a huge difference between the 2009 model Hyundai i30 and the current series so I doubt compatibility. Also, due to overlapping run outs, it may be that we are looking at three Hyundai models here so it is not easy to answer your question unless you provide exact model details of the 2009 Hyundai to establish just which model it is. The best way to establish compatibility is to call your local Hyundai dealer and have a word with their spares department.
