I brought a Santa Fe 2017 highlander seven months ago which I pay cash and with out a trade in either I'm not very happy with the sound system first of no CD player. The second thing is the sub woofer in the back made a popping noise soon as I picked up and drove it out the i made appointment to get the customer service to look at it the woofer needed to be replaced it sounded good for a week than the popping noise came back in the same place which was the sub woofer again so took the car back and the dealers told me that could not find anything wrong with the sound system perhaps I might have to change my type of music well I seen red how dear these people say what music I can play in my own car that I OWN out right. The popping sound still in the speaker and I have ever turned the bass down to 0 which it sounds very crappy to much high tones even if I put all tones down below the settings that are programed in head set already . So question is what else can be done about the noise

Hi, I have a Sante Fe Highlande"r" - (Petrol) - 2011
I have just bought a 16" caravan and am now on the net researching and learning as much as I can about towing caravans! Wondering if anyone out there could give me any handy tips, tricks, ....petrol consumption (which I am pretty worried about) and any useful advice. I bought the Redarc brake controller and had that installed all for under $400 bucks which I was pretty pleased with. Just want to know as much as I can before I go pick this van up?
Thanks in advance,
Ingrid.

I have a 2008 diesel with 180000ks on it .bought in Feb this year and it has cost me 3k to fix. Cracked exhaust manifold, replaced the turbo and now the brake light comes on and the brakes dont work! Have taken it twice to mechanics and they can't find anything wrong with it. Hyundai did a software upgrade and didn't fix it. And there is also a surging/lack of power issue. Any ideas why brakes fail?

I have 2012 DM Santa Fe with 120,000klm owned it from new. It has developed a single clunk when I move 5 to 15 metres in reverse, has anyone experienced anything similar, and do they have an easy fix? Other than taking it to the doctor's of course.

Hi Dan,
Did you ever get an answer for this or a resolution ? I have the same issue - the clunk only happens intermittently - but the mileage is the same as yours.
Thanks

I have not heard from any one, it has been in for service since and mentioned it to the technician and believed it was a sensor in the drive train which they have sorted. Haven't had any issues to date.

Hi Dan,
thanks for the quick reply. That is very interesting information - as what I didn't mention was that my rear diff "blew up" at about 108k - big crack down the middle and oil all over the ground (was going about 15km at the time...). Anyway car was 2 months outside the warranty - but in the interest of customer goodwill the repair bill of approximately $6K was shared between myself and Hyundai (and much appreciated by myself). However the "clunk" only appeared after that diff replacement - and your reply makes me think that *maybe* said sensor was somehow displaced at the time. Would you be prepared to share the name/location of the garage which serviced the car ? In private if necessary ?
Many thanks.

I have a Santa Fe 2014 diesel, maybe 45,000km on it. I forgot to put gas in it and it died. Went and got petrol, started the car up, it didn't start at first. On the maybe 5th try, it started, took it straight to the gas station and put more petrol in. Now my trunk door won't close. It comes down when I push the button, but it won't lock and the door light in the front won't turn off. Some electrical fault maybe due to the car running out of petrol??

Have a 2009/2010 diesel Santa Fe. Every so often the turbo light will come on and the car will slow down, but then after a minute or two it'll go away and the car will go back to normal. Is this safe to drive until I can get it looked at?

Hi. I have 2013 diesel santa fe. For about 2 years now when i try to start engine it tries to crank but just wont kick over. It is intermittent and doesnt care if it is hot or cold weather. I have to turn key off, wait a few secinds and try again. Sometimes it will take 4 or 5 goes before it eventually starts. Dealer cant find problem because it is intermittent. Nearly out of warranty - cant help feeling like i am being played by dealers. Does anybody have this problem or knows what might cause it?

Hi
I had this problem a few months back but nothing since. I would recommend getting a NRMA roadside end of warranty check over car and get them to report it so then you have proof during the warranty you adressed this matter . Hope that helps

Had same thing for a couple of years. Turned out to be the smart key sensor in the ignition switch. Check when you put the key in the ignition that the light on the dash which looks like a car silhouette with a key across it goes out, if not it hasn't recognized the key. Have your keys tested by a locksmith also.

we have got 7500ks on ours in 4 months and I,m very impressed with its touring and towing capabilities,a recent trip of 800ks used 7.5 ltrs of diesel per 100ks with two occupants and loads of luggage and pushbikes. We also tow a boat which weighs 700 kgs and I,m very happy with its towing ability fuel usage increases to 10.5 ltrs/100ks.Just be careful with cars GVM when you,re loaded up with family and trailer,They handle exceptionally in most conditions I,m sure you will find it a great car for around OZ.

Hi I have a 2007 diesel Santa fe. It loses power up hills to the point where it will go down to 3rd gear and travel at about 60km/h. Its had a new engine installed but still produces the problem. I've spent thousands trying to find the solution but have failed to do so. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone know how to fix it. Also the engine light will stay on but sometimes it will flash.

Hello this will be caused by a blocked PDF. As the DPF is block it will cause so much back pressure in the exhaust it will almost stall or stall. The simple question is to replace it. If you need helping finding one please let me know.

Check Turbo house or Turbo switch. Or turbo itself might be causing the problem.
I have same model, it had engine light on and i lost power when going up hill.
It had replace the turbo switch

I have got also an Honda 1996 . Few times that engine sign came when I did not heat up engine after start and straight away running on high speed. After that I have started get engine warm first and then start moving. If that's not case check oil engine level, if engine heats up and radiator fan does not turn on occasionally that may be causing that. There may be electronic issue check if any wires connectiond have got oily.
If non of above best to show some proper mechanic to see real issue.

Most likely plugs and / or leads. They should be changed around 160,000.
