Check your equipment first

Works fine on your mobile. I purchased to watch the NRL as was cheaper than Foxtel subscrition addon. I already have standard Foxtel. If you want to stream on standard Chromecast foget it. Myself and my son inlaw have an early version of chromecast and it stutters and freezes constantly. Another freind has later model chromecast which he upgraded because of buffering. Works fine.

Signed up for trial to see V8 Eracing. I restarted router & computer, 100Mbs connection, even tried to drag back off live. Still buffered for about 5 secs per 10 secs

Why the negative reviews?

published

Have been using Kayo for about 6 months and experiences have all been positive.
- Have used on Apple TV, Computer and Samsung S9 - all no problem
- Works fine on NBN and 4G. Initially 10-20sec might be a bit grainy but after that all good.
- Online and apple TV app is great - When watching live it highlights wickets/4's/6/s or Trys in NRL and you can move back to watch those moments
- have just unsubscribed (due to Corona and no live sport). No problem at all. Single click on a website and no need to call and be badgered by customer service.

No problems very pleased

published

Read a number of very negative feedbacks, A couple of friends had good experiences, so only joined today, gave it a crack on the basis of quit any time.
Had no drama, have just watched women’s AFL and 3 NRL games with no issues whatsoever.
Couldn’t be happier for the money

We will be watching Rugby League when for no reason it changes us to another sport. We have to sign out & sign in again & miss half game because it does this 6 times a game

Garbage website that never runs properly

published

I tried to sign up to Kayo but was unsuccessful due the website freezing and booting me out. That did not stop them charging me two weeks later, despite never having used the service and assuming my signup attempt did not work. When asked for a refund i was basically told 'too bad so sad'. Forget this company, you can do better,

Flawed technology worst application

published

Buffering buffering buffering that's the MO for KAYO. 100mbit internet connection but still have trouble getting HD stream, application is a nightmare to navigate. Fed up with being constantly pushed on the home screen sports I don't care about (WAFL) only to have to navigate through 10's of menus to find what I want to watch.

Pointless.

published

I use it with Google Chromecast with high speed connection and the quality most of the time is awful and pixelated. It often buffers every 5 seconds making watching sports frustrating. All other apps stream perfectly on HD. Looking for a different streaming service now. Don't waste your time.

Greedy Foxtel (Kayo) at it again.

published

I have been with Kayo since Feb 2022, the service covered all the major sports, and although the website was a minefield to navigate, I put up with it to watch my favourite sports AD FREE.
Kayo (Foxtel) have now introduced advertisements (March 2020) during game time which is totally unacceptable.
I have now unsubscribed. Typically of Foxtel, Kayo offered me one week free if I would stay with Kayo and resubscribe, they would not answer my question about the continuation of ads during game time - I am not paying Kayo (Foxtel) to watch advertisements.

AFL is 45 seconds delayed!!!

published

They advertise live but 45 seconds delayed is not live . When I rang to discuss they acknowledged that it was indeed delayed but they thought this was ok. Have left based on this alone!

Very hard to unsubscribe, Beware

published

They have very misleading wording in the manage my account area and I thought I'd unsubscribed but they kept charging! Beware of these people's dishonest practices. I have now unsubscribed and am wiser but poorer.

Picture Quality

published

The picture quality is absolute rubbish. The bigger the TV the worse it gets. It's embarrassing asking mates over to watch an NRL game when it's almost not possible to recognise faces or read the numbers on the jerseys. The ACCC should investigate this as a rip off.

Pakistan super league Kayo Edition

published

They are streaming only selective games of a cricket tournament. That is unacceptable. That is ridiculous. Along side endless buffering they're only giving you a quarter of the action just to make sure you miss most of it.

Disgraceful

Disgraceful customer service.
Barely offer any content that can't be found on youtube and will not offer refunds when their product is found to be lacking and defective.
There has to be something better than thia

Not good enough

published

Has the potential to be awesome, horrible lag/buffering throughout events even in standard definition with nbn100.
Unfortunately it's just not worth the price right now I may come back if they sort out the issues.

Kayo is Buffer City

published

Useless. It buffers about every minute you are watching something and is very expensive for such a poor quality streaming website. I tried to watch a Kayo mini for ages and it buffered every ten seconds. The match replay was slightly better, buffering about every minute. WTH.

Thursday night NRL is disgusting. The game always freezes. Why does this happen. Can we cancel our free trial and will this happen all the time.

Yes you can cancel the free trial you may have to call them to do it though.
Why did this happen, well it could be one or many of the following reasons.
1: No crowd attendance for games means more people watching from home, and if using Kayo, then the service was probably overloaded.
2: our pathetic excuse for a broadband network called NBN, again over loaded.
3: Kayo is a streaming service designed around a certain workload, that workload would have been 10000% higher given the situation with Covid-19 and people wanting to watching streaming services.
4: I have a 100mbit/s internet connection, to get HD stream from Kayo requires 12mbit/s, I could not watch the AFL last night it was buffering and falling back to lower than SD quality requiring only 1.5mbit/s bandwidth.

This tells me the Kayo service itself was the problem, too much demand and not enough infrastructure to service the demand for the streaming requested.

IMHO Kayo fell over big time due to unprecedented demand, and they don't have the infrastructure to support the user demand, this coupled with our pathetic NBN is why you didn't get a reliable stream.

It used to be easy to unsubscribe, but they have removed the simple option. Go through the chat line. They are bleeding to death because of the poor quality picture so they have made it harder to leave them, instead of fixing their servers. I will never go back to them.

Why does my kayo sports keep freezing.

PxbVic

Please read above, it's not a simple answer there are many factors as to why you are suffering from what is called "buffering" the 2 main reasons are:
1: Do you have enough of an internet connection to support a streaming service?
2: Does Kayo have sufficient back-end infrastructure to support user streaming demands?
