Fantastic Fridge

published

This fridge has temperature control you can make it colder if you like or less cold. I like the design as I prefer upside down fridges. The doors open easily however if you open the door then close it you have to wait a few seconds before you can open it again which is a good thing.

Good, reliable work horse.

I have had this fridge for over 5 years not once has it let me down even up here in Brisbane during the hottest of days it still keeps my food lovely, crisp and cool. The shelving can be adjusted to your requirements so there's no worries about storing large bottles, I would and have recommended Kelvinator to my friends and family.

Decent, while it worked

published

Purchased new at the end of December 2013 from the good guys, this fridge kept things cool pretty well even on 30+ Celsius days, and the freezer was enough for two with some frozen vege, tub of ice cream and some misc. frozen stuff.
Shelving was good, being able to move it according to what was being stored, and the door shelving held milk and soft drink bottles fine. Everything was easy to remove to clean and was simple to take out and put back in.
I was generally happy with the fridge except for the lifespan, as it died at the end of February 2018, so only lasted a little over 4 years. With repairs being quoted at 3/4 the cost of the fridge, and it being out of warranty. I will not be recommending a Kelvinator to my friends.

It's a good fridge

published

Its a spacious fridge and it has a big freezer at the top, it's also not very noisy. Even though it is more of a budget fridge, it is good value. I think the energy rating is not the greatest but it does the job well. The temperature of the fridge is easy to control. I've had no issues with the fridge.

Works perfectly fine at a very good price

published

This fridge/freezer is very energy efficient, I checked with a meter and it exceeds the specification. Keeps the temperature very well in both the fridge and freezer compartments. Nice sturdy shelves, easy to keep clean. Spacious, we can fit a week's worth of fresh things easily. We are very happy with this purchase!

Love the 2 door & the light in the Freezer

Though freezer all the containers inside to start with then gradually all on the outside and starts a few days after being in the freezer. Therefore thigs get dried out and off to quick.

good fridge for a reasonable price

published

I was reluctant to buy a Kelvinator as i had heard they were so so.but it was within my budget. I have been pleasantly surprised! After more than 3 years it is still working fine. It runs on a cost effective temp, is very quiet & standard to clean.
The only issue ive had is you need to be careful that the fridge isnt pushed up too close to the wall. If it is the engine seems to struggle & starts working "overtime.

Bad for soft drink bottles

published

Can be loud in an open room. The bottom of the door cannot be used for soft drink or milk bottles, as it is too small to hold them, which can be quite irritating, and causes a loss of space, as all those bottles have to be stored on the internal shelves. This is the major problem with this fridge, and has made me aware to check the internal size of the door shelves before any further fridge purchases.

I bought this fridge 3 years ago. And the best fridge i had. 1 month before christmas the compressor broke long story short. After alot of phone calls and stress i spoke to a lovey supervisor lady who sed they would replace the compressor and pay the labour fees. As it was so close to christmas i couldnt bear to part with the 500 dollars it was going to cost. Having a big family its the perfect size very quiet and easy to clean. Lucky i got it back 1 week before christmas. Thank you. If you have trouble ask to speak to a supervisor. I wont say your name supervisor lady but thank you. You are very kind

We bought this item almost 6 years ago from Goodguys at Carseldine and we've had no issues with this fridge/freezer what so ever, seals are still good, temperature has no issues and we've moved 3 times in between those years.. We still have this fridge today.
It's ashame this product had been discontinued..

Under five years, needed repairs

published

Both door dairy compartment lids broke within first year as they kept falling out, didn't bother replacing as not willing to waste money. Just had repairs done as needed a new defrost timer which stopped whole fridge from working, cost $200 which was annoying, expected fridge to last longer without needing to be repaired. Over all the fridge has functioned well but I think it is a sign of the times that nothing is of good quality any more even when you have tried to support local manufacturers.

Hasn't lasted 3 years

published

Started making a lot of noise from the freezer- and not freezing food properly. Noise crashed to a halt- then the fridge stopped keeping food cold! It seems to come good - then stop for a few hours at a time and come good. Gets very hot on the back panel. I can feel it's about to completely stop!!

Zero warranty.

Door broke off in first month, no warranty.2 years later fridge has completely failed. No support from local betta electrical dealership. Will never buy kelvinator, Electrolux or related product again. Leaves a sick feeling in your stomach. When installed support leg should have been wound down but dealer installer did not do so.

Still working after 3 years and several relocations

published

I kept the receipt and had to look at it to verify that I bought it almost 3 years ago at HN. The reviews aren't great here but my housemates and I have had no complaints about this fridge over the years so I thought I should say something. The fridge has also survived several moves and lots of usage as I'm a renter and I share with randoms. I bought it for a decent price at the time so I feel like the fridge is great value for money. The bad reviews here make me nervous though. Will it continue to work after its 3rd birthday (buy day actually) next week? Time will tell. Based on my experience so far, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Kelvinator after checking reviews of course.

It is a lemon. Don't buy this fridge

published

I bought this fridge Oct 2015 and it has been playing up since. The freezer is always not cold enough to freeze anything. The other day I had the technician came to check and told us everything is okay. We have been asked to turn up the freezer control to 3/4 and the fridge control to half. It works for the freezer but my vegetables and fruits on the fridge also get frozen. I have been using Kelvinator fridge all my life but not anymore.

The doors are heavy, however I would check that there isn't anything impeding the door when trying to close it.
