Inconsistent service for interstate moves
RemovalsI’ve used Kent 3 times, most recently being an interstate move. Get quotes from other similar companies. Paid top dollar for a large 4 bedroom (two storey) home. Even got a client liaison contact (who was lovely and helped to resolve delivery issues). The uplift was relatively seamless. Packing service guys did an excellent job over one day (in hindsight, get specific boxes labeled properly and marked to be delivered/opened first). The uplift removalists were mostly efficient and helpful.

... Read moreg the company again. Started out with a verbal fight between the removalists. I had to ask them to stop swearing and get on with the job. The supervisor left, leaving behind a team that worked quite slowly, but methodically. Then he returned which amped the pace and tension. Boxes and items stacked everywhere. He leaves again for well over an hour to bring the second container, while his staff rest. Nothing assembled in his absence. The team claim ignorance about the gaslift bed, motorized seating and other furniture. (There could be better communication between the interstate teams on any specialist services needed for reassembly). Some of the bolts have been marked incorrectly, but it doesn’t strike the supervisor or senior movers to check the packages in the ‘bolt’ box packed by the Kent Brisbane team. They leave us in the lurch citing another job. The client liaison organises someone to come at night, so we spend 1.5-2 hours to help him put things together - after an exhausting day which began 12 hours earlier. Takes another few days to get furniture sorted via third party contractors. On the positive, nothing was damaged. I also had to chase Kent over some weeks to remove the empty boxes and packaging (which were ready to go before the Christmas holidays). I’m writing on Product review as I am annoyed that the Kent survey sought a rating on the uplift (good) - but nothing about the unloading/ delivery (which was sub-par). I feel obliged to share my experience.

Got verbally abused by removalist & company ignored my complaint
RemovalsI hired this company to help move a few months back (relatively small move, 2 bedrooms & not a large amount of extra furniture) for a move from one side of Brisbane to the other. On the day of removal one of the removalists (the fees paid for 2) wasn't doing anything other than standing out the front of the house talking to the other one & talking on the phone. Seeing as the company charges by the hour, I called the company office to double check I had definitely paid for 2 removalists & they confirmed this.

Read morest recieved a phone call from the company office & then immediately approached me in an intimidating/aggressive way & shouted at me for about 5 mins straight & then threatening to not do the move at all if I didn't agree that he was doing work. (Also keep in mind that I was a young woman & on my own at the time, & both removalists were large men). While this was happening I was on the phone with a family member that was helping with the move, so that family member heard every threatening word of this 'conversation', & I stayed on the phone with them for the remaining time that the removalists were at the house because it felt like an unsafe environment. As well as this event, the removalists permanently marked a lot of my fabric furnishings, & were really rough with items that were clearly marked fragile (TVs, clearly labeled & packaged mirror cartons etc.). After they completed the move I made it clear to the company office worker over the phone that I had been verbally attacked & that I would be making a formal complaint. A few weeks after that I sent through my formal complaint email, after which their HR team proceeded to gaslight me & ask why it took so long to report & saying if I hadn't submitted an official police report then there was no proof & nothing must have happened. After that email they have completely ignored my reply emails, and apprear to have zero interest in taking any responsibility for how their removalist behaved. [UPDATE]

Agreement was: All contents of the shed were to be moved
There were 2 shelving units with crates and boxes on them.
Sales wrote them down as “Shelving - dismantled” but did not write the boxes/crates on the list separately. Moving team initially refused to move them as they were not on the list.

RemovalsThis was our second interstate move with Kent's and we have always found the whole process a lot less stress free than you would think. The quoting and booking personnel are easy to deal with and even if you make a mistake with the paperwork they quickly help you sort it out. The boys on the ground are fantastic! From the initial call to Kent for a quote, through all follow up calls, the removal guys that dismantled furniture and packed the truck for relocation then unloaded and reassembled at our new address, the service we received from all concerned was fantastic. Kent Removals & StorageWe had two destinations for our belongings. The bulk went to Kent Storage on the first day, the remainder was moved to a new address over 1 hour away on the following day.
The two teams of Uplifters who attended were very polite and efficient.
The move was handled quickly with a minimum of fuss.
Each step was documented and we were kept informed at every key juncture. Kent were the only mover we contacted willing to visit our home and assess our storage and moving needs.

I had been quoted on the move by a representative who had been to my home and calculated, truck volumes man power time etc. I was told it would be a 8 hour move in total. Worst removal I have ever suffered.
RemovalsI am so disgusted! I went with kent because of their old reputation of care, and paid more for it. But my most valued items arrived smashed! At both ends of the relocation, staff piled three boxes high on trolleys that they ran with, really fast, over our bumpy gravel driveway - same situation on uplift as delivery. Running as fast as they could go because of their tight deadlines! Bouncing boxes marked fragile and thudding them into the truck! Then dumping them on the ground at the other end. No training visible here!

Took hours longer than expected & multiple damaged items
RemovalsWe chose Kent for their supposed expertise. We moved just 400 metres and it was a completely shambolic day. Truck too small despite having someone come in first to quote. They started at 9am and didn't finish til after 9pm. We had multiple items damaged including every single dining chair. Complaints to Kent removals head office have been completely ignored. We have given them every opportunity to rectify, however they refuse to talk to us. I will not recommend them to anyone.

Broke furniture, hid it, and didn't fess up to it.
RemovalsMoved interstate and had my items in Kent's storage until I was able to find my own self storage unit. When I found one I scheduled Kent to move my things into my self storage unit. When the job was done and papers signed, there was no "by the way, there was something that was damaged" from the driver and his helper, nor anyone from head office. I was surprised to find later when I was going through my things something wrapped in a Kent branded moving blanket which was purposely hidden away at the back of my storage unit. I admit I was irate but at no point did they genuinely apologize for it, nor did they bother investigating what had happened. They intentionally forgot about my case and never contacted me again. It was a cheap drawer anyway so I didn't bother claiming insurance for it but what I'm angry about is that they did not bring it to my attention from the start and I'm left believing that they will never admit to their faults. If they had simply brought it to my attention I would have been okay with it - it can be replaced - but as a result they receive this bad review and I will never recommend them to anyone just because of their dishonesty and poor customer care.Dear Jan

RemovalsI uplifted several pieces of hand-made timber furniture that are unique and one of a kind from a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home to my 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit in Cairns. Kent Removalists came over assess the pieces, tagged and moved them from Brisbane to Cairns without an issue. It was seamless, professional and my personnel goods were handled with care. I recently moved some other furniture with another well know removalist and they did a poor quality job and damaged my goods as well. I highly recommend Kent in Queensland for all your moving needs.
