I love it
I've had an eye on this car for a while because I liked its looks...a lot. When I finally test drove one, I was sold pretty much on the spot. I still looked at other cars and while other mothers have very pretty daughters too, I happily went back and bought a Koup Turbo with the touring pack recently. Now I can't speak for the long term, as I have only done about 2000km but what I've seen so far, I like...a lot.
The body with its swooping line and the long frameless doors makes the car stand out from the masses. It's a good combination of sp...Read more
orty ambitions and style you have to look hard or pay a lot for elsewhere. The interior is mostly standard Cerato with the exception of the (faux) carbon fibre inserts around the console and the dash. The latter is ergonomic and clear, the console is not overloaded with buttons and the infotainment system is very easy to use. The 2-zone climate control works well but due to the flat angle of the wind screen sometimes has a lot of work to do to keep the temps down when the sun is burning down from the front. The leather sport seats are very comfortable and even after 500km one doesn't suffer from a numb bum or stiff legs. They offer decent side support when moving through tight corners. A big surprise is the room in the back. Thanks to a wheelbase of 2.7m, there is a good amount of legroom in the back and despite the falling roof line of the coupe shape, headroom isn't that compromised. I'm 180cm tall and can sit comfortably in the back without touching the roof. The build quality appears excellent from what I can tell so far. The doors close with a solid thud, not a tinny clank. There are no creaks or rattles, everything fits nicely and there are no uneven gaps to be seen anywhere and the materials used are pretty decent. The switch gear is very solid, not flimsy like often seen these days. There are some hard plastic surfaces but by no means cheap and soft materials are used where required. The touring pack also ads a 7" touch screen and a very easy to use sat-nav. iPod integration is working well, Bluetooth Audio works a treat as well and the phone integration is also quite handy. The only niggle I have with the latter is that I have to download my contacts every time the phone connects. The ride is a little hard but not uncomfortable and the Australian suspension tuning is very beneficial on our bumpy country roads. The Koup handles well and likes being taken around bends. It's doesn't handle like a sports car but isn't supposed to be. It's a GT style coupe and as such, it is tame around town and when it is required but is good for some fun when let loose. The zesty 1.6 litre turbo engine and the 6-speed auto are a good match and acceleration is very linear with no turbo lag to speak of. Peak torque is available just above idle, so there is always plenty of shove available when requested. The auto does its best to keep the engine in its sweet spot and shift's very smoothly. It also offers a manual mode with sequential shifting on the gear lever or can be overridden with the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters at any time if you want to lay hands on yourself. Fuel economy is, while certainly not class leading, not bad either. So far, I average around 9.5l/100km in urban peak hour driving and on a recent long distance trip over all up 1400km (mostly highway, with cruise control set to speed limit) 6.5l/100km. Verdict: The Koup is a stylish, comfortable, well handling and surprisingly spacious car with pretty good performance for a decent price. If you want a car that turns heads, looks quick, has the grunt to back it up and doesn't cost a small fortune, the Koup Turbo Touring is the car for you.Similar opinion? Kia Cerato Koup Touring Turbo Blk 2014
Only fault is the paint we have this car in a black pearl the doors are extremely heavy and long being a Koup so if you and your passenger are not careful the paint is prone to chipping on the door edge!
When we bought the car we didn't opt for paint protection for an extra $2,000 as we thought the quality of the paint would be high due to the price of the car, and not be necessary if taken care of.
Comparing the quality of paint to my 2007 Blk Toyota Corolla Lvn which I have owned for 8 years and has no protection, to my Kia which I've h...Read more
ad for 1, the paint doesn't compare as it is delicate and vulnerable without some kind of protection. For servicing go to a dealership that ONLY sells KIA cars, in our case we found you don't get the full knowledge or service if theres a problem from dealers that sell heaps of different brand of cars. Besides the above, overall the car is great. It is fuel efficient, fast, and has very nice interior features; one being the space in the back considering the car is a Koup.Similar opinion?
