I am looking at Koala for my new bed and just had a question about the bed base. I've had issues with mattresses moving on bases before, and I can only imagine a koala mattress on a flat wooden surface would move around too? Has this somehow been addressed or will the mattress move around? (if someone gets into the bed without carefully sitting down etc)

Hi just got our mattress last night just wondering do you guys recommend rotating or flipping the mattress? Would we be okay just to leave it how it is? Just seen a few people saying they’ve gotten indentations where they sleep.

I don’t actually work for Koala, but I bought my own a few weeks back
Koala do recommend rotating it 180 degrees every 6 months to make sure you are using the mattress evenly

Sleepwell2000 is right! We definitely recommend rotating your mattress.
Body impressions (where your shape is reflected in the mattress) are completely normal in all types of modern mattresses, including the Koala mattress, and you shouldn’t be alarmed. These occur over the first few months of use where the comfort layers on top of the core are settling to the body weights and most common sleeping positions used on the mattress.
We recommend rotating your new mattress to help create more even settling of the comfort layers especially where there are two individuals with different sleeping styles or weights using the mattress.

Anyone else had issues as it got older? We have a King double and there are two pretty bad indentations from my wife and I on each side, with a noticeable hump in the middle.
About to go down the warranty path but really disappointed - this isn't even two years old.

Unfortunately yes, they definitely do develop indentations.
They seem to get better with every new iteration as they come out. Our first was replaced under warranty and really hassle free. The new one (pushing 3 years old) has 2 indentations about 15mm deep, so not too bad, but I am concerned that it may not last to the expected 10 years.
Yes, it's concerning to have to go down the warranty path, but they do make it easy. I simply used a slat of wood over the mattress with a ruler showing indentation depth, New one sent with no further questions. Can't fault the after sales support when I had questions either.

A breathable, waterproof mattress protector is a great option to protect your mattress. Look for a protector with a natural fibre content to ensure that it is breathable and keeps you cool. Tencel is a great option because it absorbs moisture efficiently and provides an unfavourable environment for bacterial growth for added protection.

Can we machine wash the mattress cover?

Hi Vera,
We recommend that you spot clean your Koala cover for smaller spills. If you need to clean the whole mattress cover you can wash this on a warm wash, no higher than 40 degrees.

Hi Koala, I have had a koala mattress for several months and I just cant get used to it, it's so firm. I wake up every day with aches and pains, it's like I've been sleeping on the floor. I've added a mattress topper but it's just like sleeping on a mattress topper on the floor. Perhaps my mattress topper is too thin? I don't want to keep throwing food money after bad. Perhaps I should cut my losses and get a different mattress?

How long does it take the mattress to fully inflate? How soon can you sleep on it?

Their website says that you can sleep on it straight away as it sorts itself out over 3 to 4 days, our awesome delivery driver said wait 24 hours, which we did as we still had our old mattress on the floor. But honestly looking at it we could have slept on it straight away as they said. It inflates straight away when you unroll it from the plastic, maybe an hour or two for the corners to become straight and level.

The Koala Mattress is specially compressed for ease of shipping. It can take 3-5 days for the mattress to come back to its correct shape and feel, but you can sleep on it right away. It will just get better over the first few days.
Compression or pre-crushing is actually great for foam. This compression removes any inconsistencies within the foams hardness and density. The level of compression within the Koala Mattress reduces the risk of body signatures and drastically increases the foams longevity.

Can a koala mattress be kept tightly rolled and stored for years after use as someone has given me his rolled koala mattress that was being tapped and before i untape it just want to know whether this mattress would still be the same?

We have tested the compression for up to a total of 12 weeks in the box. While it is tested for up to 12 weeks, we do suggest taking it out of the box before 8 weeks from the manufacture date which is stamped on the box. I hope this has helped.

Hi there,
My friend has given me his koala mattress which was kept in his house rolled and tapped after 3 years of use as they were not having any room left to use it. Now i am going to unbundle it as it was tightly tapped and rolled. My question - will that mattress be still usable and same as quality ?

We bought our Koala mattress in November 2018 and we love it, but we've noticed indentations where we sleep. It is also noticeable once the bed is made. We're concerned that after a short time we can see the dents and so it will only get worse? Is this normal? Thanks.

Hi, for some reason I like REALLY firm beds and I'm not sure the Koala is firm enough for me yet. I'm yet to trial it on the floor as I'm wondering if my bed base slats are bowing or bouncing. Is it bad to try sleeping on the reverse side of the mattress? Just an idea...

if your bed doesn;t have solid slats it will bow.my bed has thick firm slats and the mattress is firm and comfortable.I was told not to turn mattress over ony rotate it,hope this helps

We recommend using something with a lower thread count, generally the higher the thread count the less breathable the sheets are :)
