Very Disappointed in this mower
I also have had a T2380 for about 4 years and it has to be the most useless, costly mower I have ever had ( and have had quite a few) As mentioned in another post it leaves a grass strip, it doesn't mulch very well. It is extremely costly on consumables ie blades & belts. When mulching hard grass the blades wear out very quickly, they loose the "wing" which creates the down draught airflow so it stops mulching properly. You can not change the main drive belt ( engine - trans) without dropping the steering rack out. if you are changing one it p...Read more
ays to fit a spare and cable tie it up & out of the way because you will need it soon anyway and its a real pain the change. They aren't the "cheap" option mower and you expect a little better from Kubota, it's a very disappointing mower and I tell a lot of people about it.Purchased in December 2021 for $7,000.00.

Not much chop.
I have a 2015 T2380 and as others have said it leaves a strip of any type of grass long short Ky or dry. I sharpen the blades and the underside is clean but this makes no difference.
It has done more belts than I've had hot dinners and now they are $90- each. It has done two pulleys also and this week I need to order one pulley and two belts. It has plenty of power for towing a small trailer and the drive seems Ok. The deck is like one of my older John Deere's and collects rust. Although it sometimes sits outside and I don't have time to clean...Read more

A big disappointment and sold as quality
This is the third rideon of this model i have owned. The first two were great how ever the one i have now is dreadful. While under warranty it has blown two head gaskets, had the carburetor replaced and still severely backfires when turning the motor off after doing a couple of hours mowing.

Worst mower ever
This mower has been nothing but a headache from day 1. Cut is uneven and constant part replacement and repair work necessary. What a disappointment. Have always bought Kubota mowers and never will buy another, nor will I ever recommend one. Pulleys need constant replacement. Just JUNK. Repair/Replacement parts are expensive. Had in dealer for repair 3 times in first season.

Bitterly disappointed. Totally rubbish cutting deck
Parts used within 50hours of use:
2 x tensioner pulleys
4 x deck belts
2 x deck drive belts
2 x drive belts
Cutting deck required straightening after 15 hours.
Won't cut grass. Flattens it rather than cutting it. Leaves a strip between blades.
Low engine power. Been to dealer 3 times.
This is without question the worst purchase I have ever made.
Signed Totally Disappointed with my mower

KUBOTA T2380-A.Well Built Tractor Mowet!
Kubota T2380A-48 Tractor Mower chosen over prior major brands. This unit built better. Much easier to use to go forward and back to mow in tight space and there is red blinking light to let.you know it is bidirectional mode. Product advertised as 23hp Kohler motor. Delivered unit just built this morning had label with 22hp Kohler??
Why tractor mower? I have lawnmower trailer attached to tractor mower's trailer bracket loop hole to attach small trailer to pick up fallen broken tree branches off mow areas. This saves wear and tear on the blades.
Prior brand 54" ride tractor mower, spindles replaced 3 times.. The new delivered unit (unused), had bent spindle.. New replacement belt kept coming off after install..

Utter rubbish for Kubota
To reduce wear and warranty risks, this unit only drives ONE rear wheel !
Traction was hopeless . The infinity deck can only cope with short grass
since it's actually a mulching design . Kohler SV23hp range engine was a
disaster . Knocked under load . I had unrelated blocked carby problem due
to Dealer not flushing alco-fuel out of system and not using a petrol
additive as expected . The PTO safty switch was faulty and engine cut
out . Dealer didn't fix this either ! I ditched at 22 hours on another
Kubota Dealer, for a BX2360MMM : a real machine ! Was informed by
this Dealer that Kubota wouldn't pay for rectification of what they
considered was T2380 dealer fault . Isn't that wonderful . Lies all around.

T2380 - Expensive, Over-rated belt-chewer!!
Moved to 5 acres and bought my first ride-on, a Kubota T2380, because of reputation and smooth talking salesman at Dural near Sydney. My father-in-law said it sounded wrong from day 1 - should have listened. Threw mower deck belt 3 times in 6 months and drive belt twice. Drive belt damaged after 9 months and replaced by the people that sold it to me - they claimed it wasn't a warranty issue. Still throwing belts and finally chewed 2nd drive belt one month after warranty expired. Dealers said "out of warranty" but only charged parts because serv...Read more
ice in warranty should have picked up problem. They said pulleys needed replacing and said I must have been misusing!! I only have grass, no bush, so can't see how that is possible. Hundreds of dollars later, supposedly repaired, and it chewed another drive belt after only second time out. Service people don't want to know about it now because repair was start of winter and destroyed belt was start of spring so 3 months warranty on repair has expired even though only 5 hours of mowing since repair. So, rubbish machine and rubbish after sales service. I won't touch a Kubota ever again. If Kubota was once a reputable brand, those days are well gone. Comfortable when running Runs roughly, throws belt and destroys them,1 comment

ious occasions and that has caused a number of my problems. They have provided free parts for the latest problem and offered complementary service next time around to make up for the inconvenience. It's good they came to the party and resolved the problems their service caused but that still doesn't explain why the Kubota itself was faulty from day one.Similar opinion? Why do I get a strip of uncut grass down the middle after I have mowed? Checked tyre pressure, had dealer, hills district farm equipment, look at it in their workshop. No fix. Also bends grass a lot instead of cutting it. Run at full revs, tried different deck heights, tyres ok. Blades ok according to dealer. Machine is 4 months old, also, it just stops by itself for no reason after running for about 15 mins but will start again after a few cranks.

From time to time we hear of Dealers who don't do the right thing by their customers. From the day you put your machine on your property he should have been making sure the machine was suitable for the work you were going to be doing with it, and the machine was capable of achieving the finish you required. Plus adjusting the machine accordingly to the manufacturer specifications. There should not be any uncut grass down the middle as a general rule, you may see a mark after passing but not uncut grass. That's why two blade decks have one spindle slightly ahead of the other to overlap the other blade. The argument for having a three blade deck then raves on, and removes the possibility of any misses. As a suggestion make sure you are using full revs when mowing, just because you have revs you don't have to drive fast, and if the grass is too tall and the deck is folding it over, make two passes with different deck heights. Blades don't have to be super sharp to achieve a fine finish and I have no answer to that question. However the machines engine is not running correctly, could be many reasons, blocked fuel filter, air locks, pinched fuel lines, but that's the dealers job. In NZ we have something called the Consumer Guarantee Act where if anything is not suitable for the purpose it was sold to you, you get your money back, no argument !! I don't think you are ever going to be happy with this machine, I wouldn't be either, don't let it tear you apart get rid of it.
I see with other correspondent. Bending grass over is often caused by going too fast keep revs up and slow down.
I would take machine to another dealer regarding cutting out and leaving a gap. It should be adjustment.
Good luck
Thanks for your answers on this. NZ's approach with the Consumer Guantee Act is a great move and shows genuine concern for customers. Not like here where dealers get away with very poor after sales service. I ended up doing exactly what was advised after the dealer was not going to rectify the issues. I just did not want to do battle with him and have to deal with toothless tigers who pretend to be authorities. I have traded it in on a completely different and far more appropriate machine. Solid as a rock, not like the plastic rubbish put out by Kuboto these days.

ou researched your purchase properly. Losing traction suggests you have a few steep pinches on the property, more suited to a tractor, which you have now bought, rather than a rideon mower. You have probably fallen into the same trap that many of us do, by purchasing a machine that is not suitable for your land. Many times that is price driven. Almost all (Hydro Gear & Tuff Torq )Hydrostatic driven mowers run a system that drives both wheels through, for want of another word an automatic diff lock. If one wheel loses traction that wheel stops driving and rotates in reverse. To set the auto lock, to return drive to both wheels, you take off the power, then the drive returns to both wheels again. Your replacement BX 2360 mower is a Compact Utility Tractor a far cry from the T2380, it has a Hydrostatic drive also, but with one important difference, a manualy operated Diff Lock, which you have to kick in and out with your foot. Remember to take it out on corners or you will complain about turf damage, and difficulty in steering around corners. Diff locks only work in a straight line!!. The machines weight and the big lug tyres will probably never let you lose traction again. Most of us would not like the tyre marks left by that type of tyre on our lawns. The mowing deck on that unit will do a far better job for you,it was designed for taller and heavier grass, as obviously the T2080 deck was not meant to cut the height of grass that suits you on your property. Kohler engines are fitted to Husqvarnas, John Deeres, and many other mowers, and to be fair, they must from time to time have problems, and the dealer should be there to action those complaints. The diesel motor in your replacement will go forever, and you no doubt will be able to fit all sorts of Hydraulic driven extras that have been designed for it unlike the T2080 which is a very good basic lawnmower. If there is a lesson to be learnt, it is that you need to carefully research your product, get the dealer on site, and get him to demo the machine, and mow your lawn, as you would like it. !!!
