    Tough unit for mowing fun

    published

Bought the mower zg122 unit to mow a slopey 5 acre block with cow pasture up to a meter tall. Can mowing the lawn be fun? Apparently it can, wife can't wait to get back on it, she's now mowing more than me! Cuts great once the grass has been kept quite low, otherwise needs 2 goes at it to a lower enough point, once to first trim it down and the second to finish it off, if that's what you want. It's what you would expect though with grass this tall!

The only thing I don't like about it is frequent servicing requirements, and I wish it was fuel injected - still it isn't bad on fuel, the entire paddock in around 15L so far. As it is still new I haven't got much else to say just did the first oil change, was easy.

    ZG122E

Looking to get the z122e 48"deck with a grass catcher. Does anybody else have this and does grass chute clog up on it? My other option is gravely because theirs come with powered bagger whereas Kubota does not.

I have had Z122E for a year now, has got 55HRS and no problems so far.

I have the grass catcher. It has no blower so yes...it clogs up all the time. Best bet is to run your engine at top rpms when using this grass catcher. Remember, you should not put your engine into high do this for the first 50 hours of run time (according to Kubota). So buying the grass catcher with a new mower is a waste as they'd most likely tell you that you voided the warranty.

When, not if, the chute gets clogged please make sure you are wearing gloves when you clear it. Those Buck Moth Caterpillar are out there this time of year. I had the misfortune of finding one in the chute. Scarred for life now. Thanks Kubota.
